Team Hack Planning


This thread shall serve as a location for both hack leaders and aspiring team hack members to locate helpers and intriguing projects respectfully. The intention of this is to restrict the great number of threads requesting help, and this will allow people interested in participating in a team collaboration to more easily discover a thread that fits their desires. As a result of this thread's existence, there should be no outside threads or posts searching for helpers or team hacks; team hack threads may be opened in the Works in Progress subforum once relatively significant progress on the project has been reached.

Rules

Leaders

1.) Make especially certain to define the main story or theme for your hack. Not many people are going to join your project if you vaguely describe it in a single sentence. Thus, it would be wise to have a well-defined idea of your hack, preferably within one to three paragraphs or so.

2.) Attempt to make the goals for your hack realistic. Most team hacks fail due to their outrageous objectives; many members are simply unable to accomplish various tasks. For example, many people on SMWC would be unable to make bosses at the caliber of those in Brutal Mario, so you should not expect them to be able to create a boss or sprite to such a great magnitude. If you yourself cannot imagine a possible way to make an aspect of the hack work, then you may wish to hold back on including that detail for the hack.

3.) Please identify which roles will be required for your project. Without knowledge as to which roles require positions, other users will not know where they fit into your hack, and they are much less likely to apply.
-a.) Other than positions that remain unoccupied, you should not be managing your team hack in this thread or an existing project thread. Clearly, you may show off work in a team hack thread that you may release on a later date, but try to make contact with your other members through outside means, including PMs, the Discord, and more.

4.) Similar to other related scenarios, do not whine if you are not acknowledged at first. If your hack is truly appealing to others, people will come by eventually. As such, you should not "bump" your post for at least a week's time; it typically reflects poorly upon your person anyway.

5.) Being a team leader does NOT exclude you from working on the project itself. If you cannot create levels or fulfill various roles in the project, then you should simply not be a part of the project at all. Your "leadership" position should entitle you the rights to assemble and manage the various pieces and positions of the project, but you should also fill a role or two in the project. Overall, you should always be working as an organizer and member together in a single position.
-a.) Although you have the main authority when it comes to what is finalized in the hack and who works on the hack, you should listen to the members involved in your project. They will have great ideas for the benefit of the hack, and if your co-operation is an issue, then your project as a whole will have holes in it.

Regular Members

1.) When you are posting in this thread, make sure to identify the hack you are joining and the role(s) you are taking. By doing so, you will make it easier on the team leader to add you to the list. If you fail to identify either of those, it will require further work from others to discover what you wanted to do.

2.) Do not repost if you are not noticed immediately. If anything, the team leader has not checked the thread since you posted, and he or she will most likely check the thread eventually. If worse comes to worst, you could send a PM to the team leader and indicate your post.
-a.) If you are not accepted by a team leader to join a project, do not become disheartened. There should be many other projects that you can join, and through practice, your hacking skills will improve. Eventually, there may be an even great project underway that you will be applicable to join. So, do not become discouraged; it is simply something that happens in life regardless of experience or enthusiasm.

3.) By signing up for a project, you are assuring the leader that you will fulfill your specific part in the project and complete your tasks as necessary. If you do not pull through with your work, then you are only going to delay the project, and you may be dropped from the project accordingly.
-a.) As a member of the project, however, you are also permitted or perhaps even expected to provide insight about various subjects regarding the project. Doing so will help enhance the quality in the project, and it will strengthen the connection between all of the members of the project.

As said, follow the rules, and have fun with your team hacks! Try not to let them get too out of hand.
The Frozen Volcano Collab

So, there's already a thread in Works in Progress, but the hack needs more publicity.

What this hack is about is Mario is travelling across the world. He wants to collect 1 animal from every continent. But his ship crashes on the coast of Antarctica. There is a volcano nearby. However, due to its location, it's frozen.

What we hope to achieve with this hack is mainly to try to bring some life to TFV (my forum). We'd also like to see how well our members can work together in this tough project.

We need some more members of the TFVC crew. This includes GFX artists, ASM coders, boss coders, and music porters. If you can't do any of those things, levels are still open! ;)

Okay. Here goes nothing.

Title:
Mario VS Nintendo: Cross-country (Thanks to Jayfeather for the name [also, this isn't final, so feel free to share your ideas])

Plot:
The year is 2006. Pretty much every store in New Jersey is sold out. Mario doesn't want to spend the extra money on a Wii from the internet. What does he do? He goes on a cross-country trip to California to find a store with Wiis in stock.

Levels:
Undetermined. I'm thinking 1 world consisting of 5 levels per participant. Each world is a state between New Jersey and California, each with custom graphics and music (which will be done using a mix of existing ports and graphics, and some new ones).

Jobs:
All participants MUST make 1 world consisting of 5 levels. Participants can choose any state or area they want, so long as they haven't already been claimed. I'll put a list of worlds at the end.

At least 1 person willing to port at least 1 song by ear (if there is more than 1, I'll assign the rest some MIDIs that already exist) who can also make levels.

At least 1 person willing to make custom graphics for the overworld and/or levels and can also make levels.

At least 3 people willing to just make levels.

Okay, so I don't have any screenshots yet. That's because we haven't started! I'm still trying to decide what graphics/music should be used for what world/level, if we should use existing graphics/music or make some, ect. Thanks in advance to anyone willing to participate! Also, I think we should try to promote use of this on the Wii just because the plot revolves around the Wii and stuff. I'm trying to figure out how to put it as a custom channel. Hopefully this hack itself (excluding the Wii channel part) isn't too ambitious. That's what pretty much destroyed all hope of my other hacks getting finished ever. Trying to keep things simple. Again, it would be awesome if any of you helped out!
Well. After all the excitement of SMWCP II. There where lost of members who didn't get a level. NOW! What I'm going to be hopefully doing is running another team hack.

Story


Well. Peach has been kidknapped (again). But this time not by Bowser. BY Yoshi! Yes. You heard right, Yoshi. What happens is that Yoshi is fed up of being the guy that just sits in the background while Mario and Luigi does all the work. He is asked to help out once in a while but that's it. So he decides to take revenge. He kidknapps Peach and takes her to his secret place. BUT he leaves a note saying that Bowser has taken her. The hack is going to be split in half. The 1st four worlds are going to be leading to Bowser's Castle. While the last four worlds are going to be going to Yoshi's secret place. The hack will be called Yoshi Snaps!

What We Are Going To Need


Well. Of course we need levels, ExGFX, custom sprites, blocks, patches, music, NPCs. We are also planning to have an RPG feel to it.

So. You want to sign up. PM me for know until I make a thread in WIPs. If I can get enough interest. I will make a thread for this collab. But if not I will cancel it. And why should you sign up. Well, this hack is going to be a full 100+ exit hack. We will have levels to build. ExGFX to make. Music to compose and sprites and blocks to code. So if your interested in doing any of that. JOIN!! This is also a great oppurtunity to make a level for a collab if you didn't get one in SMWCP II!

One day, Bacon man was out for a walk. He was at the northern edge of the park when he heard something from behind the bushes. He looked back and saw a bunch of mean-looking people all wearing shirts that say "Dinner Gang." He listened to them, and from what he heard They were planning to enslave all of Breakfast City! He sprang into action to defeat them! But before he finished off the last one, he told him to spare them for some info. He told him how to find their leader. And then Bacon man Sprang to adventure!

An Anti Super Mario World Central Production

OK, maybe some explanation what's going. An Anti Super Mario World Central Production (for short AASMWCP) is project which started when SMWCP wasn't completed. After Coin mootbooxle left project, it was rather dead, no levels were done. After that, Coin Brad172 took control over the project, but he essentially forgot about it. But after some time, from three days on my board, the project restarted for real. The old levels were removed, because of hard was to use base full of not sent levels (note: if you've done level before, feel free to resend it). Everything will be more organized. If you ask about leaders, those are:

We need level designers. You can claim 1, even 5 levels, just be sure to make them, or you might lose your position. Zeldara109 will make overworld, so don't ask about it. Also, if you want to create some "Dwellers of Discord" music for our project, feel free :P.

This is my new Team Hack I'm starting up, the Point of this hack is to bring Minecraft to Mario! hey guys im posting a thread to ask if there is anyone out there willing to help me with my hack basically im new to hacking so far i can use sprite tool custom music romi's addmusic so im looking for a team member that is good at doing overworlds and custom blocks as i am crap at overworlds i tried my best doing overworlds and im no good so if anyone wants to be my team member i would be so happy and i'll give you credit and also create some levels if your interested please write back thanks

Okay, I'm a little nervous here, so here I go:
A DarkBones Production (Yes, this is a blatant ripoff of the title "A Super Mario World Production" just a working title to avoid something like "Luigi's Adventure") I'm planning a relatively short hack, possibly one world, and I would like 3 team members to assist me. I'm currently adding patches, GFX, etc. I would like someone good with Graphics, Composing/porting, and ASM, I pretty much am required to help with everything. Also, everyone helps with levels.

Short story summary:
One day Mario goes off to save the Princess from Bowser. Luigi stays behind because he's tired of saving the Princess, only for Mario to get rewarded. After a while sitting around, Luigi grows bored. Not too long afterwards, a toad leaves a message on Mario's answering machine saying an unknown villain has stolen a precious item from a Mushroom Kingdom museum, and Luigi travels to get it back. He goes back to villains of Mario's past to see who may have did it (because if it was Bowser, Mario would handle it...)

Now I'm currently planning only one world (not counting a secret world). Special World levels are now signups (...do NOT dump a Kaizo level here and say you're done...).

For other bosses, if you're not good with ASM, you can edit the GFX for a boss sprite (i.e. Wart to SMB1 Bowser, or Fawful to Mouser)

Alright, so i'm going to discuss my team hack...because i haven't worked on it for a long time.

Name: Mario: Lost in the Forest.

This is a chocolate hack, with custom sprites, blocks, music, ASM, etc.

Story: It was a peaceful day in the mushroom kingdom. In Peach's castle, Mario got bored and decided to take a walk in the mushroom kingdom. Mario told Peach he was going to take a walk around the mushroom kingdom, then he went off.

While taking a walk in the mushroom kingdom, he met luigi in his house. So luigi wanted to go with him, and he accepted. But things got bad when mario went wandering off in an unknown forest! Mario didn't know at first, because he had his eyes closed while walking, then he ran into a tree, then mario saw he was in the forest!

He looked for luigi in the forest, only to know luigi didn't go in the forest at all. Meanwhile, luigi went off to Peach's catle to tell her that Mario was gone! Mario in the forest is now lost! Can Mario get back to the mushroom kingdom? Will he ever see Luigi and Peach again?

Hey, i have an idea for a cutscene in the forest maze world! Mario walks in the forest trying to get out, and then he finds geno in his forest maze! But the entire unknown forest isn't all geno's...
