Maxodex's World v1.5 [Demo] - by Maxodex

Hack Name: Maxodex's World v1.5 [Demo]
Author: Maxodex
Description: Yeah, finally after like 3 months of doing nothin'. This version features a totally new main overworld, and of course, brand new levels. The only level I eliminated is Bridge Passage (Not for long). Finally, FINALLY I learned how to use custom sprites! The only glitch I saw was a custom palette in the ow, when a new path is revealed, it turns black, if you know how to fix it, please tell me... Of course, a lot of new music and new bosses! Hope you like it!

----------------------------------------

Reasons:

This is an awesome hack, so I'm sad to see that I still have to remove it. Here's the main reason of the removal:

When I enter this level...

I get an infinite level 0. :( I guess you didn't test this level so this mistake could happen.

Other smaller errors:

Bad sprite memory value could cause this odd glitch (this happened after Lakitu appeared on the screen).

And that's a really minor cutoff there.

Also, I'd like to point out that the music crashes in bSNES. Read this thread to learn how to make your hack SNES-compatible. It's highly recommended.

I haven't found any other errors, so good luck on fixing these.

EDIT: It took me a li'l bit to resubmit it because I didn't make a whole level, so I had to create it from scratch. Also, school is getting tough, so...

Reasons for removal:

Please don't put solid ground off the screen were it can't be seen

The half pipe sticking out of the ground can cause you to fall off the screen like this.

A little bit of cut-offness here with the bridge and ground.

more half-pipe goofiness

Water it a bit cit-off on certain frames.

Nope. Check to see how the original diagonal pipes where use in SMW to see how to use these properly.

If you don't want Yoshi used in your level, use the "no yoshi' entrance. Dont have him hurt right at the beginning of a level.

eh...a key hole...with a non working key?

Gah! which freaking key is it!

I did finally get it to work, but it set off an unused event on the overworld and took me nowhere. I'm not seeing how to get the goal sphere from this point without having to use some sort of glitch, so I gave up. Regardless, the issues listed above are enough to have the hack denied. Overall it seems like a decent hack with the exception of the goal sphere puzzle.

EDIT 2: Okay, looks like the mod didn't understand level "reach me" so, i'm saying the answer. NYou DON'T have to make ANY TYPE of glitch to complete! The second info box has a hidden clue on it! BREAK THE BRICKS. Run to the blue triangule, go to the top and then jump to the left. The cement blocks (they have some li'l broken tile) will start to break, and then you get to the goal sphere. The key is just to trick you...

Reasons for removal:
First off I'll admit I missed the hint, but you may want it to stick out a bit more, remember, its just a world 1 level.
Anyways, on to the pics.

Still a bit of non-visible ground here

Not really a glitch, but this would look much better with the correct corner tile

Might wanna fix the bounce block so it matched...

I see what your trying to do with the little hill tile, but if I didnt have Yoshi, I wouldn't have known that was a corner tile that would let you run up the wall. Change it back to the old gfx.

why is this invisible vine tile block still solid?

bit so slowdown here

Bridge cut-off

maybe move the pipe down one tile so Mario isn't cut off
I see you created some no-fly zones to prevent cheating. However I can still get past this because of the walk-through dirt above me

Don't put these guys on slopes. They don't like it.

Move up that lava off the bottom row

If I walk up to this part I die. Please move it.

more bridge cut-offness

rope cut-offness

Goal cut-offness

Nothing really wrong here, but you may want to change the placement of a few things on this level since i was able to beat it by using the cape and just spin-jumping off of a few things

Remove the invisible blocks, it doesn't look right.

...

There really isn't much of a warning about where these things come down. You should put something in these areas to give people a warning.

1. Not sure what the blue dots are on the pipes
2. Can't get past this part.

And don't just fix the areas that I have spotted out so far, but go through the entire hack and find any other issues like this and fix them.

First off, sorry for the long moderation time. I had a lot of personal stuff going on (not a lot at a time, just spread out so it was annoying), so I wasn't able to work on this as much as I hoped. :(

The background seems a little bit bland up here. Maybe prevent the screen from scrolling up?

Lots of slowdown in this area.

It's not really logical to have these fire pillars appear out of thin air. That, and they are gone by the time you reach them.

This was addressed earlier; the key in this level sometimes doesn't work with the keyhole.

Let Mario finish his goal walk. It's just not natural like this.

Some things in this level get blocked by the status bar. Either rearrange the level, or let the screen scroll up.

Slowdown here as well.

This part was insanely difficult compared to the rest of the level. Maybe just remove the chomp.

Also, the Hammer Bro's platform can push you through the ground if you're not careful. Adjust him so this doesn't happen.

This message seems like it should go at the beginning of the level, not the end.

Some of the elevator blocks aren't placed correctly. This allows me to run into the ground like this.

There are weird specks next to some of the letters.

This doesn't really make much sense.

Some slowdown here.

You might want to enable sprite buoyancy. This makes enemies float through water, unlike they do here.

While the events occur, the shadow of the bridge looks very ugly. Make sure you are using a black tile, not a transparent one.

If I happen to press the P-Switch here, I fall through the ground. No biggie really since you can just jump back up.

Some of the wooden poles have the checkerboard effect on them and some don't. It looks very odd.

At first I didn't know what to do here. Then I found out I had to duck under a one tile gap to go on. Plus, there are glitchy looking spots on these pipes.

Some more slowdown.

Just some priority problems if you hug the wall to the right. Maybe you should make these tiles have priority too?

These two screens look a lot like that one level from Bowser's Valley. A not-so-blatent level edit.

You can fly up here and maybe get stuck if you go farther right.

These aren't really the best graphics for hurt blocks. You can insert ExGFX, why can't you do that here?

These coins don't go away when they are collected for some reason.

Lots of slowdown here as well.

Just something small: this edge tile looks just like the solid ones, but isn't.

No, I haven't found the 3nl exits. (Wrong tile after the 3.)

So close to acception. Just a few places where slowdown is an issue, and a lot of minor mistakes. I'm sure you'll get it soon!
