Why does everyone misunderstand this? :V

You, as a DJ, can put whatever music you want on the radio as it's your stream. On this website, however, to maintain a legal reputation you're not allowed to distribute (supply download links) to copyrighted music, or in other words, music that hasn't been remixed, edited, ported etc.

So yeah just chuck a bunch of songs in a playlist, hang out in #radio and request to be the next DJ.

Maximum allowed concurrent listeners.

Also Kieran, why is the server on SHOUTcast v1 mode? Seeing as its outdated, I have no idea why you haven't updated it.

Pretty much what FUGGNUTZ said. We also don't have any justification to raise it yet since we haven't gotten up to >50 listeners yet, nevermind close to 100.

I threw my ideas into the radio in my DJings. I apologize that I pretty much got sexual content banned from the radio. (Yes, that is a terrible way to put it. :L)
The first attempt I did at DJing was actually trying to test my output on Ubuntu Linux with Wine+Winamp+Edcast, and the playlist was literally "First thought that popped in my head", and... yeah, I still get "biggest pervert" votes in those "most" things, don't I? When there were complaints about it, I kinda rushed to make a new playlist and... well, then the result ended up being a few tracks from my St.GIGA Ambience albums. Oops.

On the bright side, I do thank the (peaked at) 44 (Tying Slash Man's record! Woo!) listeners who tuned in to eShroom Corp's DJing; that was me. It kinda piltered out at the end (when I basically ran out of playlist), but it felt pretty alive even then.
I felt pretty accomplished when I actually got a high listener count there. I hope at some point I can do more things on the radio that are as "immersing" as the eShroom Corp stunt (particularly in how it tied in directly to an event going on at C3). Maybe SNN won't be as afraid of me DJing now. Or maybe he will. I dunno.

I was thinking at some point of doing a sort of talk program. Does anyone have any ideas for how such a thing would play out? At the very least, I think user-made content specifically for the radio would surely help it out this time - after all, a lot of folks tuned into the eShroom Corp broadcast just for the ads.

I am quite interested in becoming a DJ for the radio how does one become one?

Step 1: Make sure you have a lot of music and a good internet conenction.

Step 2: Idle of #radio for a while.

Step 3: When one DJ is getting off, ask if you can take over.

Step 4: Learn how to DJ from the previous one.

Step 5: ??????

Step 6: PROFIT!

To be more specific on the "how"; Caffie Radio is run on a Shoutcast-compatible radio server. Therefore, you'd want to connect with it through a shoutcast-compatible client.

Shoutcast's website has both the stand-alone "Transcoder" tool that allows you to convert a playlist of Mp3s into a radio stream, as well as a DSP Winamp Plugin.

You could also try finding alternative tools such as "edcast".

This site also has a pretty decent guide. We won't give the connection info out publically, but I can say that we typically use Mp3 128kb/s and play through Winamp Playlist as our primary settings.

My name hasn't seemed to turn up properly as DJ no matter what settings I choose in Edcast. Apologies if that's an issue.

I tend to give myself away, though, because I'm the only guy who uses the bumpers on a regular basis.

I also prefer S.N.N. and Slash Man as DJ's. They play a wider range of music, both VGM and RL music, unlike the others who tend to play more of a certain genre of RL music. At least a difference in music played by the DJ's suits different users' taste in music.

Although, I really hate it when people complain about the music I play when they could just submit music they like instead.

Chikane needs to DJ more often.
Like really, I enjoy about every DJ we had so far, but Chikane is pretty much my genre so I of course like him the most.
