Regarding team hacks.

I have had to clean this forum out of team hacks made by people who don't even know how to lead one correctly. Examples are Horrid Henry's Christmas Hack (in which he refused to do any work on) and MMD's team hack (uh, he's permabanned, so that's a sign right there.

Therefore, new rules are going to be set in place for here. Let me start off by telling you, the reader, a fun fact - do you know how many KNOWN team hacks have been completed? As far as I know, only 1 - Sonic 1 Megamix. Let me also add it was led by an rather genius person known as Tweaker. Not only did you play a HUGE chunk in organizing the hack, he also did a huge chunk IN the hack - including music, level design, and probably more stuff I'm forgetting. He knew his team members VERY well, and they all had their special strengths.

Here are the new rules set in play:

1. If you are going to post a team hack thread, do not make it say something like "hey I'm starting a hack, who wants to join?" If you're going to do this, plan out specific things in advance, and recruit people you KNOW are going to do work. Don't be afraid to say no if you don't feel comfortable with someone.
2. Do not post a thread starting a team hack, and then saying "oh, I'll do .. uh .. I'll design the title screen border and you guys can do the rest!" No no no no no .. if you start the hack, you're doing the same amount as everyone else, and then some as you are the leader (planning, organizing, etc)
3. If you really feel that you can pull together a successful team, you need the following:

-Teamwork
-Communication
-Intelligence
-Responsibility skills
-Deadlines
-DEVOTION

The reason most team hacks fail is because of the lack of devotion. If a bunch of members have their parts together, and another member did not do their part, it bogs down the team, and 99% of the time, discourages them from finishing.

The best way to have a successful team hack is to work together. Make sure the people you recruit have specific strengths, and assign them to do that part - but make sure they do an equal amount as the others.

That is all. I'm not the only one who feels this way about the vast majority of team hacks bogging down the forums here, so this needs to be read and understoof if you're planning on starting a team hack. From now on, if I see any threads that look immediately pointless, or just a bunch of people together saying "OH MY GOD PICK ME", I'll just close the thread. Organization is the key here.

"Put a bunch of monkeys in a room, and they'll produce Shakespeare" does not apply to team hacks.

This will remain stickied for a little bit until everyone catches on, and then it will be taken down. If I feel the need to leave it up a little longer, I may do so.

Thank you.
Three Days and We got alot done D:

I guess Custom Music is a slowdown to success :P

Only reason I started my team hack was because the original leader was perma-banned and their was a team already. It was set :D

What my team has:
-Teamwork (good job story guys)
-Communication (God knows how many PM's I recieved D:)
-Intelligence (I'm leading it, and Sind is in their with acouple others)
-DEVOTION (well, as much as I know too well the probable end, I'm going to try to get it done right)

We haven't had any deadlines yet. Nobody cares (because there won't be custom music :P)
I wonder what a HFD opcode would do in ASM...
The thing about Fire-buu's hack is that it seems only a fraction of the people that signed up are doing anything:

Buu-Huu is obviously taking part, he has ripped amazing graphics and is doing a good job organizing it.
MDD - Banned.
Level designers - Haven't seen them do anything, in fact, I've only seen one level completed in the ROM, and that was by me.
Ersanio - He's done some stuff, but we haven't really needed anything done yet, as far as ASM goes.
Aiyo - Making useful ideas, and working on implementing them.
smwedit - Haven't seen him provide anything yet.
Pieguy1372 - Once again, zilch.
Mattrizzle - Did the logo, but that's it.
Myself - I've been designing a few levels, and it feels like I'm going basically all of the hand drawn graphics.
Music composers/porters - Done thier part, but it doesn't really feel like their part of the team, more like they were just recruited temporarily.

Advice to Buu-Huu: We should eliminate some of the members that aren't doing anything for the project.
OMFG YAY FOR SNN!! Thank God we actually have rules now, and the team hacks have been cleaned up. Good Job!

QFT

Thank you snn!!! Team hacks were becoming the new fad-man XD.
my layout sucked. so here to fill in is giggles the clown.
I always thought that a hack should be in a state of development before being posted anyway, team or not. Showing a hack with one level partially done or something isn't smart.

Part of the problem is it's not organized enough. Someone gets a job, and don't really get instructions for what they should do, and when it's due.
I'm not making music for fire-buu's team hack because in the thread, I asked him what one he wanted.... I'm gonna pm him this time, and if he doesn't answer....
Just back here to browse a bit.

O RLY?

I've contributed, I've made a level, which is more than some team members have done. Plus, I've got my other hack and other stuff to do. D:
Your layout has been removed.
My point was I haven't seen you add anything.
If you don't have time to put in a good effort towards the hack, you should drop this hack and work on your other one(s).
I posted that video...
Your layout has been removed.

Hey! Where's me?
My brother (metalgearhunter) and I do a lot of Team Hacks, but since we're brothers, does that make it to where it isn't a "Team Hack" Just wondering. Because we've completed alot of team hacks, but bugs are being worked out... not to mension we are also working on our individual hacks.
This thread was pointed at "HEY IM MAKIN A HACK WHO WANTS TO HELP" threads.
Heh, now I know why my thread got locked.
