I also highly doubt that people would make fun of you for watching girl shows considering most anime series consists of (cute) girls and it is one of the things most people like about an anime in the first place, hence, why there's so many people with anime girls as their avatars. Hell, they're usually more focused on than guys in an anime for that matter in general.

I've been into anime off and on for about 17 years now so a lot of my favorites are older series.
My all time favorites would be Dragonball (which I like better than Dragonball Z), Sailor Moon (original and Crystal), Ranma 1/2, Tenchi Muyo, and Urusei Yatsura.
Other series I like, including some never ones, are Magical Pokkan, Card Captors, Spice and Wolf, Vividred Operation and Gonna Be the Twin-Tail!!
