ShadowFire, I played Astral Forest. There were some errors.


Why is the message box empty? Also, the palette of the wooden platform seems a little weird. Maybe change the darkest purple in it to a purple lighter than most of the platform?


Why did this block kill me? Are the cement blocks just placeholder graphics?


Ehm, layout priority is iffy here. You go behind the trees, but in front of the canopy, which causes some really awkward moments. I'd say it may be best to put the trees in front of all of the leaves on the bottom.


Move the goal post down a tile (the object, not the sprite). Also, change the palette of the goal post object from blues to purples, because the blue looks weird.


Use a generator to stop the autoscrolling, because the autoscrolling killed me after beating the level. (It didn't push me off the ledge. It just killed me).

One final thing. Isn't this supposed to be for the last world or close to the last? You may want to make it a little more difficult, as it felt easy. Maybe add in a lakitu (that may push it, but test it out with lakitu)

Maybe make this area wider, since you don't need the gray platform to make it across.


Feathers should be pretty rare. I just got one a few screens back. Can this second box contain a fire flower instead?

I couldn't get passed here without taking a hit. And although I didn't take a picture of it, the Yoshi coin had a bad palette.


Why is everything green, but the podobos are red?


Why can the bottoms of the spikes hurt me? They don't look like they hurt. Use directional hurt blocks.

Why is the magic thing there? It seemed pointless.

This level felt like it should have the difficulty Astral Forest had, and Astral Forest should have the difficulty this level had. This level seemed too hard for world 2.

The message block was supposed to tell you about the blocks hurting you, but since it isn't there(I had to move to a new rom, Musta forgot to edit in the message)

That ruins the point, but i suppose it WAS iffy

And i dunno what you meant by move it down, since that would put the ground on the bottom row....

To address some of the questions...

I mean make the ground cover up those bush like tiles on the goal post, since they aren't supposed to be seen.

I guess you could remove the platform if you want. If that level is for an early world, then keep it there. If it is for a later world, remove it.

Directional hurt blocks are blocks that will only hurt you from one direction. For example, for the left hurt block, you will get hurt if you touch it from the left, but if you touch it from the right, bottom, or top, the block is solid and won't hurt you.

Just remember shadowfire: The bottom of the goal post is supposed to be behind the ground (remember you can press - to remove layer priority)

-And i have no knowledge of custom blocks, and im assuming that kind of block is. Since i have No knowledge of that WHATSOEVER I'll just remove the spikes to lessen the difficulty.

-The cave is for an early world, so i'll just leave it there then....

EDIT: how can i make a tree go through the ground with it stil being solid....?

Well Falconpunch i made another level. It's kind of finished (I plan on making it about a minute longer) but here's what I have so far.

The Level

Where ever you think it would fit in best. I'll list what I claim later; as I'm kind of busy today. (Also send you an updated list of the claims)

Whoops, completly forgot about this....

-Changes made to the levels-

7-3:
Changed the Slow Auto-scroll to Meduim Autoscroll
Changes the BG pallete a little
Changed the platforms pallete to suit the new BG
Fixed the message box
Due to sprite memory issues,and difficultu optimized on many parts of the level
Removed the sub-level, since it was not neccesary
Fixed the layer priotity issue

2-5:
Fixed the Podoboo's pallete
Removed many of the sprites and spikes to lessen difficutly
Fixed the Yoshi coin pallete

Crystal Cavern...(dk64 referance?):
Fixed the door>pipe issue
fixed the powerup issue

All in all, the levels are way better. And the new graphics really helped 7-3#w{=)}

Nice level, evilguy. What world do you recommend i should put it in? I also got an idea for a name for it. It's called, "Spring Flowers". Since you put in the SMB3 Venus Fly trap, and the SMB3...whatever-it-is.

Shadow, I played through the levels that you just posted (Except Crystal Caverns).

For Astral Forest, now I felt it was too hard. I think it should be changed back to slow auto scroll, because trying to jump from moving platform to moving platform the whole level was pretty annoying with the screen scrolling faster.

For the castle level...


There was a midway point about 2 screens away. Is another mushroom really needed?


Big Mario discrimination. Switch the box with the coin with the box with fire flower so duck jumping isn't required.

Also, the spike issue still has not been fixed. It's not really a big issue now, but... before the hack is released, I hope they are changed with directional hurt blocks.

All in all, good job.

Hey, I have a question. Whenever I create a level, is it okay to use custom map16 blocks? I mean, when the level's inserted to the baserom. Or do I have to claim a map16 page? :/
If you have space for a custom block, yes. If you are out of room for your level to have custom blocks or GFX, PM evilguy your claim.

And I think it would be best if i ask falconpunch how hard he thinks Astral Forest is. Its meant to be 7th world difficulty, so its meant to be very difficult
