Outdated demo can be found here!

I've been making this hack for quite some time, but haven't made much updates to it. I decided to grab it and continue with it. I don't like making my levels in a set defined order, so I'll make them as I get ideas for them. Just some info: I have quite a few levels in production, but they aren't in a ready enough state to show off, which is why it seems in the following screenshots/videos that I haven't done much. I will also present the story later, since that is something I'm finalising. The only bit it Mario is always in Fire mode, as I figured I wanted this hack to have a little thing different. Note that this means levels will be a bit harder than usual hacks.

With that out of the way, I can show some screens and videos.

Firstly, some...

Screenshots:

The Title screen! This thing took me above 90 colours to put together, stretching to about 7 palette rows. Needless to say, I'm proud of it.

A screenshot of some of the ExGFX I made/ripped.

A screenshot of my OW border, and Toad Town.

One of the first levels (Linked due to size)

Another level[old] (Linked due to size)

Most of my levels will be in videos, with the one above being an exception, so they'll be coming up now:

Videos:

Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga Player GFX

Minigame - Endurance (OLD - I'm still updating this minigame, plus ideas for more)

Peach's Castle ExGFX

Luigi's Superstar Saga 'Battle Pose' GFX

Old-ish video of the Auto-run level

That's all I have for now. If I appear don't update this thread often, chances are that I'm busy with Real Life stuff, working on this hack, or my parents are bugging me too often.

You may also notice that some of my newer videos do not have the Superstar Saga GFX. This is because the 32x32 player tilemap patch I am using is incompatible with the VWF 'Multiple Selections' dialogue, and as such I am working on a walk around (probably be using Romi's VWF tool.)

With that aside, please leave your feedback and comments. Thanks.
Looks great so far! I'll be sure to play it when it's done. The title screen and OW border look amazing.
That looks great, I love that grassland set that Lucas made, it's one of my favourites. Good luck with this project.
sexy title screen and ow border

Good fucking bye.
Niiice things. Also, HOW in the HELL are you supposed to make a custom OW border?

Thanks for the feedback guys, though it was mainly about my title screen and OW border :D.

Firstly, using YYCHR, delete some not needed tiles in GFX 28 through to 2A. (Since 2B is quite heavily used) Then draw your border style into the blank spaces. After which you need to insert with Terra Stripe, which can be found in the tools section. You will have to manually insert each tile, in which this process took me longer to do than actually making the graphics.

There will be more content shortly hopefully - I'm just a little busy today.
That title screen is just fucking INCREDIBLE! #w{O.O}
I also love the custom OW border. Makes it look like the levels appear on an actual map.
Wow incredible Title Screen! However, you could improve the red background by a HDMA Gradient, I think it would work really well. And the OW Borders are awesomesauce! Good Job
MSAhm3d59113, i need a youtube video how to change it, because i don't know what i'm erasing in YYCHR!

I love the your idea of timed challenges. How do you make a timer so that it doesnt kill you but instead finishes the level?
I'm trying to change the border of the OW, but i get this error message: File decompression routine has been moved to an unknown location. Program may not function properly. Why can't i do ANYTHING?

Falcon, things like that don't really belong in other people's hack threads. :/

The HDMA gradient, strangely, only loads after a certain amount of time, rendering it kinda useless...

Eh, A video? I don't really think that's necessary. Say for example, you aren't using the SMW title screen anymore, you can use those tiles for the OW border.

I can't remember it here, but there was a setting with the timer patch that can make it to a variety of things, from counting up, teleporting the player, killing them etc.

That message shouldn't really do anything - just ignore it and continue. I get that message all the time and it still works fine.

With those questions out of the way, I have myself a new level to present! Note that this is a base, and in no way finished, I just uploaded the image to get feedback. A video can also be found here. Note that even after that video, I have added a 2 minute time limit and some sprites, just to give it some sort of threat.

I'm not intending on putting death holes since it seems a bit too cruel as this level will link from another, and since there are no midway points, it would be tiresome for the player to die in a measly hole and start from the beginning.

As always, I'm asking for anything else that can improve this level.
asdf double post.

Well, I haven't got much to show, but through near two hours of work and frustration, and with help from Alcaro and Ersanio, I have made this:

Conditional Energy Display

Basically, the energy display flashes red when the player has less than 25 units of energy, and if the player has more than one energy tank found, then when they are on the last tank (i.e. 99/X99), it will flash from 99, as I will have enemies that deal more damage.

EDIT: I forgot this from a while ago:

TO-be credits level

I discovered it by complete accident, yet it worked quite well.
Download?
Are all the levels going to involve the 'running-mario' gimmick or not?

A download can be found in my files, named 'Mario'sFireworsPre-Alpha' or something like that - it hasn't been updated yet to fit my newest level.

Only a few levels will have the auto-run custom sprite, including the Credits.
Come on guys, I don't want to have to support my own thread - I need some feedback!

Just to let you know, I now have a relatively up-to-date version of my hack, which you can find here.

It's still a bit buggy in places, but I'm working on it. The main reason for uploading this is because I need to know if the level to the left of the staring position (the Auto-run level) suffers from slowdown or not, since I randomly get slowdown. As well as this, I need to know if there is enough time (even though one part is very hard, causing people to lose most of their time there.) You are more than welcome to view other levels, but don't report anything unless it's game-breaking. Thanks.
I haven't updated this thread for a while, and I have some reason:

My ROM decided to hate addmusic. Then it decided to hate loading altogether, so I had to port to a new ROM, which took some time. And to top it off, it wasn't completely successful, the autosave patch no longer works...

I've pretty much finished, so then I can start on new content.
