Yeah, after playing MrDeePay's level (directly before yours), I'm also getting the "too easy" vibe in the Loopy Lights-esque room. The only thing I could think of which might help at thus point is a couple of Red Elite Koopas in cubby holes, firing stuff at you. Also, I may have missed it, but are you planning on dimming the sprites in there as well? Seems odd how everything else dims but they don't. As for the crosshair room .. well, I'll hold off until it's done to judge the difficulty.

I know you are planning on having one of the other rooms contain a gravity gimmick. You might have to end up patching that to the ROM yourself until I actually get stuff transferred over to a new base ROM. I don't know what your fourth door is going to be, but I guess I'll wait and see.

Checkpoints .. you could do what the Void did in SMWCP and stick one right at the entrance, that way each time the player completes a door, their progress is saved. If you had a different idea for this, that's cool too.

I don't really have much else to say at this point. Like I said, I'll need to see the ASM in action to judge the difficulty. You've got 17ish days left, so I'd start bugging Sonikku for that crosshair.
Update 9-7-2011

A few testers said the bottom left room was too easy so I improvised. I tried to not make it too hard. I got about half and half responses though. The top left is still missing the crosshair sprite, the bottom right is a WIP. It uses MarioE's antigravity patch as it's gimmick.
Don't posting screens, cuz it is a bit much (most nitpicky).

My major issue is that you have put A LOT of power ups in this level. Let me show you how much:

131: Screen 0 and 4
180: Screen 2, 4, A, C and E
181: Screen 0, 3 (2 power ups), 6,
182: Screen 3, 6

That gets up to...
(math, math, math...)
13 power ups.

I could expect... like 18 power ups in the whole level if finished. That's a bit very much.

Now to the what less major/minor issues:

131
-Why is there a midway point here?

-Why aren't the conveyor blocks animated/Why are the conveyor blocks glitched?

-Place the power up block left beneath the room 1 tile lower, it kills me if I pick the mushroom while getting into it.

-Red koopa right beneath the room gets stuck while trying to walk.

180
-What purpose has those lasers?

-The door isn't working

-It feels a bit weird having the top half doesn't get black.

-Most important (mostly the bullet bills) also get black. That could lead to some annoying blind hits.

-1-up gets behind the pipes.

Couple things:


Bloop already mentioned this, but lower that by a tile.


A Mario-only block might help here, as this Elite Koopa will simply walk off of the edge and die.


Raise the roof or put spikes on it, as it's easy to get wedged and fall through the platform here.


Completely unfair. These Koopas will fall from above.


Unless you plan on allowing the door to be enterable, I'd mark it with a red light instead of a green one.

Other than that, I'm looking forward to seeing the rest.

This may be me, but I do not like how the first SMWCoin still requires almost no real effort or risk to get, especially for the penulimate level in the main game All other SMWCoins in World 8, both completed and WIP require at least one of those. At this point it feels like it would be better off in a side room hidden from plain sight or have some risk factor into it.

You're due for an update. Do you have anything ready to show?
I finally have some free time away from work so I'll be working on this basically nonstop for the next 3 days. If I can get an extension to get the ASM and such, that'd be great. For the past week or so though I've been reviewing the responses I've gotten and I'm fixing the "dick moves" and other errors in the level. I'm trying to not make it too hard though.
Wow! This level reminds me of Marching Milde's Fort in Yoshi's Island! Here are some level name ideas.

At the moment I'm still waiting for ASM I need to make this level. Aside from the lack of ASM, I fixed the little problems I had in the level to start with. Sorry for the late reply too. I've been really busy with irl things and work too.
Who's making the ASM for you? Is it still p4plus2? If so, start nagging him to get it done so you can get this level finished and we can declare world 8 complete.

Is there anything past the sprite Sonikku was doing? (Although I think he gave up and threw that at me?) Either was I am not sure what is going on for this one, so you'll need to catch me up to what actually needs done if you need me to do something.
