LOOK WHO DROPPED INTO SAY HI?

After listening to Sky Fortress Act 2 from Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 2. I've decided to make this thing.

Please ignore the ocean tile.
That tileset does not seem bad Skoda though I would have liked to have seen it used as an example in a level to get the idea of how it would look like when playing the hack.


I'm Taking a break from my other rom hack. This will be the demo for now on, and you see this overworld I made so far. :D
Well, it needs decoration, but other than that it's a great overworld.
Although there is height variation, I think it still pretty flat. There are three big masses of plain land, and I personally think it's not enough to make it not look bland. You could try to add in some smaller hills here and there, more water formations such as rivers, lakes, waterfalls, and you could as well split this big island in smaller islands if you'd like (there are some great overworlds that are only one island though, see Brutal Mario's as an example). You should also use colors other than just green so it looks more varied.
Note that this is regardless of the decoration.

Also, you might want to be a bit more careful with perspective errors, I can spot a lot of these in this map of yours (you've got to make sure that the shapes of each wall are the same in the top and in the bottom).

Designing a really good map is pretty tough, so good luck to ya. :3
ASMario - Level 3 (Secret Caves)

There are a lot of secrets in this level, and they are not shown. This was rushed, but I tried to make it good as I can. By the way, the layer 3 water, the music and the blind jump is fixed.

Interesting level gimmick you have there. The level seems to have a good sense of variety!

@1UPdudes: Your design and palettes are great as always; but I especially like the palette, it is so smooth. Also, I find the water kind of.. weird?

@Zildjian: That palette.. that damn palette. Man, that palette is so.. different. While it looks nice, it also is very original, it gives the level a very nice feeling. About the design.. well, as always seen in your hacks, (No, I'm not trying to say it is bad, if I sounded like that, I am so sorry.) a nice design with lots of SMB3 materials with a very nice background. It looks like a nice level overall.

@Jack Kitetsu: Holy mushrooms.. just wow. You are really skilled at graphics. I CANT FUCKING WAIT TO SUBMIT MY SHITTY GRAPHICS TO C3 AND GET A FUCKING NOTHING These stuff look really detailed, as I am sure you put a lot of effort in it.

edit: oh look level up. im a fuzzy now?

1UPdudes: Hey, it's nice to see more progress on Ninji Jump. I'm expecting more from you.
@1UPdudes: oh, some lovable color choices you have there. :3 I just think it would be nice if you made that first waterfall have darker colors below the ledge surface, to simulate some water transparency, y'know. Curious to see what you've been preparing. ;>

@Jack Kitetsu: that looks great, however, I think you should remove that black outline in those archs, as they don't look much passable that way. I suggest using the same style of outline those bricks (above the ledge) are using, if possible. Good job. #tb{;)}

So I redone that Mario GFX by adding some shading and made it compatible with the SMW palette.


Nice work, Pikachu! I can definitely see the improvement. The definition between the colors really adds a more professional look.
@Pikachu - nice graphics n all but small Mario's hat looks a little off centered if you know what I mean. Maybe move the white half circle left by one pixel to match up with the large Mario hat. Also, I think the hat on both states would look better if it went a little bit behind his ear (idk 100% for sure though if it looks like garbage that way ignore this).
@Pikachu: Wow, those look very nice, but I think big Mario still is too small. It would be a nice if you drew him bigger.

Pikachu, you did pretty okay on those graphics. I like them. A very nice grassland variant using the vanilla tile placement. Good job.
