GN: The pallettes really do give off an icy feel. :D
Nice work, I hope to see what it looks like with a BG. A little suggestion could be adding layer 3 fog?

JDC: Overall the level design is great, mulitple paths and lots of places to get coins if you need to get them. Only thing that bugs me is the BG colours. The violet clouds and orange sky clash imo, but then again the pallettes could be worse. :P
JDC: The level design is pretty tidy. Only a couple of things. Firstly I noticed the hanging vine near the start was cutoff. Secondly, I think you could pick far more fitting music for the level.

May I suggest one of these?

A cutoff vine isn't really too big of a problem, plus the hack is having a vaanilla feel, so ExGFX isn't allowed. Meh, I don't really see whats too bad about it, to be honest. It's only cutoff by 2 pixels.

About the music, I thought it fit quite well for a calm cloud level. The ones you provided are
1.) ports
2.) not fitting for the level.

Well thanks, but I'm not going to be changing of that, unfortunately :(

Looks nice, reg. I'm not a big fan of the green on the bottoms of the cliffs on the OW, though. And Mario in the levels, but Luigi on the OW (the sprite on the map is Luigi, but the sprite next to the life counter is Mario)?

A Hack - Night Hike
This video is from my currently unnamed hack. I was planning on keeping this secret until the first world, but I was in the mood to record stuff.
I finished a fall level for my hack. I just need to know what you guys think. Here's the video.

I gave him a black outline, because he was hard to see with a background.

I was so surprised that a darkness and color gradient work together without any problems I took this nice little picture. In the future I have full intentions to add a cluster sprite of rising sparks like in New Super Mario Bros, world 8, but the movement is so haphazard and organic I have no idea how to even approach that. I'll get to eventually though. Promise.

Lynnes-To be honest, that red could probably be a tiny bit duller, as it's actually really hurting my eyes whenever I look at it. It's a pretty cool idea though.

I disagree the gradient is fine but the lava itself is bright and looks almost pink. Besides that it looks great and your idea of having sparks sounds fantastic.

Maybe a desaturated red would be better? I think it is slightly over saturated, but not to the point of being an eye sore. That's being nit picky anyway. Love the concept of the level, it's dark-ish cave palette seems to be nice as well. Not to mention the idea of the sparks also seems interesting. I hope that you can get a sprite like that for this particular level. Great work Lynnes.

Wow you have very sensitive eyes.
That gradient looks good and it goes well with the palette IMO, but yeah the lava looks kinda pink.
... Actually, I've found that my eyes seem to be less sensitive then other peoples' most of the time (I really don't see how some palettes are so "eye-searing" to other people), but, that, just, ugh... #w{O.O}

Also I don't see the pink. :/

which rising sparks? coincidentally, i made this level the for contest, and i just so happen to make this cluster sprite for it.
