That's right, I'm reviving Star World. Because I have other Star World ideas that wouldn't fit into any other hack I'm making.

I will definitely remove the status bar in the first picture, and I do have a lot I want to work on still graphically in the 2nd (just a small graphics show-off, nothing to do with design). But yeah, it has been ages, and I decided for nostalgic reasons to come back with a dark themed hack that will only be 5 levels long.

This looks good! However, if you only want to show your graphics, you have to show them there.

Submaps for Super Mario Hack 2. The first submap is the main world, and the second one is the final world.
The submaps look really nice. There's one weird thing: the icy area on the first submap looks inconsistent (doesn't match the grassland terrains, is lower than the green areas and on the middle-left side of the map and not in the upper area if the upper areas are on the north). If it wasn't supposed to be ice, you could've told what the blue area is.

I find that Mario looks a little weird. His hat is kind of all over the place like it was pasted on. The overworld is good enough.

Thanks, guys. The forest and ice world parts of the OW are swapped, so now it should be more consistent. As for the Mario, I didn't draw it. I found the GFX here.
Kyanite, those maps look really impressive. I like how the graphics look that detailed. Makes me wonder how the levels look in the actual gameplay.

I've been working on Super Mario World: Again in Dinosaur Land. If you haven't known yet, it's a pure vanilla Super Mario World hack which tries to emulate the sequel of Super Mario World. I'm trying hard to capture that sequel as much as possible. I haven't started the hack thread and I think it's still not enough to do it because I've made only two levels, including switch palace.

Here are some screens from the first level. Yeah, it's yet another level 105 clone because I have no better ideas I do what I want
and nothing and no one stops me from doing it
. Unlike the original level, this one introduces Yoshi. Here you can find out that Yoshi can eat berries on the bushes (duh!)



And the yellow switch palace. Its idea is like the original, but you can receive only one 1-up if you have 0-91 coins and the coins appear on multiple platforms, not just one solid block row. Also, the background color is changed to adapt the switch color.

Been messing with Lunar Magic for the first time in a long while. Outside of small tests, the last time I really used Lunar Magic to make full levels was 2011. I'm pretty sure I'm awful with it now (Although I was probably awful with it then as well), but oh well.

Split the image in half because it was really wide



The beginning looks a little empty, but I'm not sure what I can squeeze in there to make it look better. Maybe another bottomless pit would help spice it up.

I think you can add some pipe with a piranha jumping out of it or a chargin' chuck. Other than that, the level aesthetically looks quite great. I'm assuming the palette of the FG is made by you?

Not sure I can fit a chargin chuck in there, but I'll try squeezing in another pirahna. I did make the pallete. Not sure if I got the BG pallete right, but I think the FG looks good.

Showed these before in other places, but here are some random tilesets I'm proud of ;)

Wow, I love those graphics. Especially the 3rd screenshot. Might just be because I love sunset backgrounds, but nice work. Also, the greenish glow in the sewer level really makes everything pop.

Anyway, I added a little more detail and upped the difficulty a bit with my test level. How does it look now?


Might move/remove that blue Koopa, but I'm not sure yet.

It really looks better than before. You should move that blue Koopa to the right, indeed. A player will be prepared for this better.

I just replaced it with a Rex lol. I think I had too much going on already in that level.

Here's another level I've been working on. This one originally used a lava cave tileset by Gamma V, but I wanted to go for more of a toxic cave look. Still pretty early in progress, so not a ton to show off.


Not sure how I feel about the pallete so far. Might have added too much purple.
