I tried to draw an underwater city themed tileset for one of my stages...but I'm not very good at drawing graphics so I just want some criticism on it.
I kinda drew inspiration from the Sea City stage in Kirby Planet Robobot. The weird lookin' things hanging from the ceiling are supposed to be lanterns of some sort, made to resemble jellyfish. Just wanna know what I can add/change.
I've been experimenting with different palettes and effects, too

your simplistic human mind cannot possibly comprehend the complexities of my thoughts
Those Shields look insane. I take it they are inspired by Sonic.
Regardless I can see a lot of potential use for them in hacks that try to deviate away from the usual formula.
currently coding a venus, later will do ptooie then try to come up with variants as that is the main theme of the stage. i'm better at thinking about setups while making the level so level design progress will probably fluctuate while im making the sprites. idea is to have two exits.
first it'll introduce the standard variants in a safe-ish environment, then use them for real whilst introducing some occasional variants, then the variants will take over, ending in a goal point. alternately, mario can find a pipe near the midpoint (where the variant barrage begins) to find a much harder secret exit route that is guarded by special, much harder variants, possibly some unique enemies mixed in such as hammer bros and the like.
i expect a difficulty spike but i'll try to not have it too excessive. i want a difficulty of like 3 on the normal route, 4 on the secret route, going by vip rules. should make it as hard as 敏感スイッチ on main, 星空のアスレチック on locked.
so far i've thought out
beginning:
normal piranhas
venus fire trap
fire ptooie
part 2:
normal piranhas
normal venus and ptooie
a few lost levels piranhas
a few fire shower variants for ptooie and venus
part 3:
tll piranhas and fire shower only
secret:
temporarily homing fire variants for both
mixed with lost levels
possibly hammer bros and chucks
@lion, seems very promising your hack. Good luck with it. I think that I saw that background before, not sure where. About the Venus Plant, you reminded of a friend of mine, he loves venus fire traps and put tons of them in various stages. I wish you best of luck with that hack.

Here's a showcase of two levels that I made for the Kochobo Dourado 2, a brazilian collab hack. I put a lot of effort in them and wanted to make a great homage to two of my favorite video games series: Castlevania and Mega Man.
Aerodynamics City
Can Mario defeat Tengu Man and restore the peace to the year of 30XX?

@DPBOX: Looks like someone is making a My Little Pony hack. The style is properly nailed, especially in the clouds and bushes, color, and shading. The arrangement of the flowers does reveal the grid-like nature of the overworld though and to offset this, I would consider adding tiles that would let you "overlap" flowers, trees, and bushes so that you can cluster these props with more variable density and make it seem more natural. I am not sure how I feel about leaving the bottom and left as evenly mixed as they are: it has potential to host what is definitively a forest, a flower field, and a plain if the details are less blended, distinguishing these pieces of (presumably) Equestria and giving more suggestion to the sort of level you will enter. I would also do something about the very angular shore line and lack of sand-to-water/grass transitions. The space alloted to the wheat fields on the right also seems large. If less spread-out, you can expand the mountains inland just enough to not shove Mario and the levels into the perimeter where they are close to or hidden by the overworld border. The longer and straighter mountain edges would look good with some angles worked into them.
I am wondering about the forest at the bottom, as it carries connotations of a crossover between these universes.
Just look above you... If it's something that can be stopped, then just try to stop it!
Yes, it is a My Little Pony hack. The forest at the bottom is the Everfree Forest, a creepy and dangerous forest in My Little Pony, as signified by the different, creepier, and more dense trees in that section of the over world. The Everfree forest will be one of the sub maps as will Cloudsdale, a city in the clouds. The area on the bottom right section of the map with the brown ground is the Badlands, a volcanic region.
Also, all of those custom (non-Super Mario World) trees, flowers, and bushes are on Layer 1, so they can't occupy the same space as a path tile.

There's a whole second page of unused Layer 1 paths and slots, you can have a path with decorations (without losing the regular path object), and it's a good opportunity to try making priority decorations.
I finished an entry for the Kochobo Dourado 2, an brazillian collab. The level have as theme Tokimeki Memorial/Kunio Kun series and is one of my best levels (graphically saying). The cutscenes use all gfx slots (FG1/FG2 included) and you fight a yankii in the end of level as boss fight.
I loved so much to work on this level that maybe i'll insert in the Anime World of my hack The Hangover. Here some pics:
I'll publish this level tonight on my twitter.
Bye-bye!
This looks god tier but if I had a nitpick, it's that a girl like Shiori wouldn't use the term gaijin, it's too rude. Sorry for the annoying minor complaint.
