It would be nice if you could tell me what his hacking title is, but for a simple screenshot, you can use scrolling to insert the graphic design and the original music for fun and popularity.

Yes, I drew most of the graphics, and to fill up the rest which had artist block on ideas, I used some of NO Body The Dragon's graphics. I am planning to insert custom music.

The hack name is Puyo Maguro World: It's War Against The Tediz, or just Puyo Maguro World to short.

Well, all I need is somebody to help me on the overworld, since I don't have experience with these.

Hey there SMWC! It´s literally been years, since I last touched Lunar Magic, but some streamer got me back into designing levels and I completed a level, that I started back in 2017:



now, while this is a normal difficulty level, the hack I´m mainly working on right now, will be a short Kaizo-Adventure, based on the same Rom. I´d like to show some screenshots, so here they come:

Hey I remember you, I went back to SMWC in November too after a several year hiatus.

That looks nice so far. You've used a good mixture of aerial obstacles. It looks fun to play. The pacing is quick enough to be exciting and engaging without being overly unforgiving or difficult. I would probably fix the first hammer bro as the timing appears quite tight for the very start of the level.
thanks for your feedback! The hammer bro part truly is frustrating, I will change it. It´s usually supposed to jump down, which makes passing way easier, in case of the video it just took too many cycles, so I might just as well re-think the section.

my cool overworld map. It's a bit messy and incohesive imo, but it looks fine when in game, since you only see a bit of it at once. I'll probably change the forest island, to not be touching the giant tree island, not sure
This is such an amazing map. Props for stepping out of the map making comfort zone completely and making something this good looking.

Yo, I really like what you've done here. Unconventional design and creative use of existing assets always piques my interest. I think you owe it to yourself to explore drawing your own graphics and replacing the vanilla ones, the results might be incredible.

I want to show off a pair of images, you may have seen them on discord. I'm rather proud of these.

First, the title screen for Chapter 2. I based this off of a painting done by my grandpa, who was an incredible talent and passed long before I was born:



Second, the boy in his bedroom. New graphics and atmospheric palettes.

my simplistic title screen. usually avoided making custom graphics for them, but turns out its kinda easy if I just make it in an art program then paste over to yy-chr lol.

damn, this is crazy. Ive seen progress on this throughout the years, and it doesnt even look vaguely recognizable as SMW anymore. I mean that in a good way.

also, glad you guys like the OW, but I'm probably gonna redo it. I kinda made it without thinking of levels/ progression, and I've changed my mind about what kinda world themes I want.
the next one will be better though, I think doing a drawing first would be helpful, to have more flow. sort of hard to design it without some kind of sketch

I think you could submit that overworld you made to the Overworld Design Contest, but it is your call. I wish you good luck on creating your new one!

As long as you're absolutely sure the contest judges haven't seen this masterpiece yet. It's an anonymous contest and organizers of those try to prevent possible bias.

It is unfortunate how the image of the overworld will likely only end up forgotten in this thread though.
This is a level I made a little while ago, and it is probably my least favorite out of my creations. While I wouldn't call it bad, I feel like it is missing something (especially for the normal exit). I'm not sure what this missing thing is though, or if it even exists.

So, what do you think about this level (and both of its exits)? Is it well-designed? Creative? Tell me what you think!
I would just say it - the invisible pipe for the secret exit is uhh. You could swap it for a door or custom block.

Yeah, it might be a little annoying to get into, especially since you can't see it. As the creator of the level, I'm definitely not the best person to say how clear it is to players; I already know where everything is. I might just end up having the player walk into a visible pipe rather than have to blindly jump into one with only coins as guides. While using a custom block (such as the teleport block) would be nice, I'm making this hack strictly vanilla with the exception of custom music. I think it forces me to be more creative with what I have.

I just finished a new level. It is a bit longer than usual. The original idea I had for the level actually isn't used here; I'm saving it for the next level I make. I think it would work better as an entire level's gimmick rather than just a small section in part of a level.



What do you think about it?
