I think those X blocks are part of the ghost house tileset. You can find them in the tileset itself.
@ZMann: I like the level you got there, as well as the mix of graphics and the BG.
@Neutron: That's a nice level. Also, did those fireballs pass thru the corner at 2:35? Also, I think there's a cutoff block at the boss room.

So, I've decided to work on Super Luigi: The Starry Race again. Here's some stuff:




Which of these two trees (which I have dubbed Mushwood) looks better? The bottom one's meant to take after the Forest of Illusion trees from the original game, hence why it looks so symmetrical and why it has random brown dots in it.

(Please ignore the cutoff tip of Luigi's hat in the first screen; I'd like to change that entire thing to a powerup symbol or something, but I dunno how to remove it. Also, notice that I changed the level tiles...)


Also, this is what I'll be using for a midway point! You can also see the new BG I made for the level. I'm very pleased at how it came out. :D

Good level, Maxodex. It has a good level design, the graphics fit with the rocky hill and I liked the 1-up and goal concepts. Nice work.

@Riolu180 - I like the idea of a Luigi hack, and I really like that sprite you used. Looks promising :x

@Lunatic Wolf - very impressive level. I like the theme around it. Only thing I seen was the initial fg/bg screen position in the first underwater section. It had to scroll way up.. other than that, great job :)

@Maxodan - Excellent work! love the music used. I liked that secret 1-up too. I just wish it was a little bit longer... but that's just me
Riolu180: Great news. :D I've always been interested in your hack and it's awesome to know you're still working on it. I prefer the first one, the cap of the Mushroom looks much better than the one in the second screenshot IMO.

Also, does the midway point animate? I'm assuming it does.

@Underway: i didn't know that in Germany, when the sun is barely setting, you can already see the stars =o
and at 4:39, I may be a slowpoke but I'm sure i would have committed suicide here. but anyway, nice usage of vanilla graphics and nice gimmick.
I really like the thing you did with the bubbles to influence the enemies behavior (hello i'm jumping super high)

Looks just like kaizo, doesn't it? Look again. The roof is 1 tile higher than it was in kaizo. That makes this much easier to do.
