@underway: whoa, is it vanilla? Awesome man, and good palettes, they give a cool feeling to the level.

Although you yet didn't fixed the Piranha Plant palette.
It's easily the best thing I've done
So why the empty numb?

Thanks, but isn't it kinda impossible to fix the piranha palette without using any tools but LM?
Nah, it's possible.

Enable custom palette;
Open the palette editor and put green colors on the black area of the sprite red palette;
Replace the piranha plant body and enjoy.

But you'll want to replace the palettes in every level you use them. Not really anoying.

Well, that's not Vanilla because it uses either the 8x8 editor or YY-Chr.
Wrong Austin if you do that you have the risk to corrupt the VRAM of the game (or crash the game badly), instead, search and use this patch: Piranha Plant Fix Patch Fix.

Also @Underway: Nice GFX and palette although I didn't like the purple lava, maybe using the Mud instead of Lava can work. (I assume that's poison)
Thanks, but I won't use the patch (because I want to keep it vanilla) and I won't change the lava because I kinda like it that way. Also new screens and better (?) version.

Ah, I understand.

Also your level is ok, I like these decorations and stuff. Keep it up.

The second screen Mud (lava) it's much better now also put some decorations but overall it's okay.
I love it! Underway you never cease to amaze me with your level designing skills.
Just fixed the water:

I submitted today this:

What think about this?
@Roberto: I think this ExGFX looks good.

I really don't like the palette in this level. It just looks washed-out.

The design looks great. The enemies are varied and from what I can tell, the level is well decorated.

Something small here: my friend saw me playing an SMW hack wanted to play some, but hasn't played Mario for a while.

So I made a level for him, that functions to help him become comfortable with the emulator controls, and to help him learn some of the game mechanics.

He hasn't played it yet, so if anyone has any suggestions to make this better, tell me.

EDIT: Here's the three sublevels of the level, if anything passed by too quickly in the video.
the vanilla mix of that platform thing and the trees is very awesome !
but purple lava is one of these things which are often used as toxic stuff, but I really don't like that purple lava thing.

How does this palette work?
Mario's Vanilla Journey

Progress: 22/72 levels complete

Partially inspired by Norveg's lab (i don't think it fits but eh), and partially inspired by SMB3.

I should have something witty to put here (even if it's just to update dated info), shouldn't I?

It's worth at least trying out, though it will need more lab-specific aspects added to it.

@ Neutron: It's a bit basic. Maybe you could add some statues, banners, portraits, stairs, etc.

I didn't exactly want to post this right now and I wanted to save it for C3, but I feared that someone would beat me to the hack idea.

Super Mario Mania: 1-1

Oh look, something that isn't from A2MT or SMWCP2. This is actually my own hack, named "Super Mario Mania". It doesn't really sound like an original name, but I'm trying to aim for a feel between Super Mario Bros. and Super Mario World. This is the first level, and although I planned to save this for SMWC's C3, I really couldn't wait because I thought someone would beat me to a hack idea again.
I brought the Fear Factory stuff from DKC 1 to SMW !

it flashes between black and normal.
I drew the FG on myself.
I used every ExAnimation Slot .. that was hard work.
The boss fight in this castle has got that flashing effect, too.
But the boss isn't that hard to beat.

Damn, your graphical skills really are better than ever. That's a really awesome atmosphere you came up with - I am especially loving the Layer 3 clouds. They remind me quite a bit of the Yoshi's Island cave mist, and they definitely give an extra touch to the whole highlands vibe you are rolling with.

Great work!

Thanks, a lot Broozer. Always glad to hear from a fellow graphics maker. The layer 3 is actually from Yoshi's Island, and the only ripped thing in the hack thus far. With that being said, almost any screenshot/video I've released recently, all the graphics are hand drawn... er, mouse drawn. I like to use YY-CHR (The old version) when making my graphics and what not.

You're the one telling me "Damn", then I should I say "that is the shit". You're always up there Broozer. So many ideas, it must be hard to contain yourself. LOL. I find it surprising that you haven't made your own player yet... or have you?

*Cue close in pan shot with dramatic music.

Eh, I'll have to take another look at your screenshot, too busy paying attention to the awesomeness of it I forgot to look at the player. But seriously, me and you are going to have to talk sometime, I feel we (meaning I) could benefit from a slight graphical conversation, because you really got some things going on right there.
