This thread is for asking questions, not for requesting music.
EDIT: You may post music code here freely in any form; however, your post will be edited if you post an absolute ton of it with no noticeable modifications.
★ HEY,LISTEN ★
We should just have 1 thread. It'd make less cluttered up stickies, and since we gave to repost anyways, it'd be a good idea. Request them here, and also have the first post as all the links in a single list.
I'll get around to remaking the Music Request thread soon, once people get settled in. To clear up stickies, we could have the list on the first post of that thread so people can find them easily.
or just create a new section related to SMW Music hacking.LWares87
Well, since there's no where else to really post this right now, I guess I'll post it here...
I think it sounded pretty good, except for the guitar in the chorus is a little off...
Any comments/criticism appreciatedYour layout has been removed.
Ok, I will post my music up here if someone tells me how can I put my custom music in game?Just back here to browse a bit.
It isn't easy to insert music at all. You need to learn how the music for SMW is coded.
Depends. It's very hard to code it, but it's easy to insert it - you just need TXT files with the data in it (which - gee, what do you know - COME with addmusic!)
(note: if someone has the link to addmusic for people to download, I'd recommend sticking it up)
Both versions of addmusic are in the Tools Section.
The New Version w/ level music and ow music is called "Level Music Editor"
The Old Version w/o level music is just called "Overworld Music Editor"
The only upside to using the old version I guess is that you don't get messed up stars/ p-switchesYour layout has been removed.
Question:
When I use command prompt to locate my folder, it says path not found. I want to insert custom music.
Copy cmd.exe into the addmusic folder. Then you don't need to write a path at all.
Hey Guys, just a quick question.
I've put the level music in my ROM, but how exactly do you actually use it in levels, because I looked around in LM and you can only use the regular songs... do you have to use a hex editor or something to set the other tracks for a level?Your layout has been removed.
Click the music note block button. The rest is self-explanatory.
Ah, thx. I honestly think I'm blind.
But now I have another problem...
When I put in one of the new songs, when I play, I can't hear anything... not even sound effects. When I change it back to an old song I can hear it fine though.
Hmm... tried it on a different rom and it worked... weirdYour layout has been removed.
Umm just a question, will we ever have an midi -> mml -> txt converter? Well i know we have a midi to mml, but will there be a mmml to txt?
Um.
MML is TXT, it is just a different format.
The only way to convert it further is to learn how to do it manually, as the text is already there.
Oohhh, ok.

But it don´t work. It says, path not found.
You don't need to type the path if a copy of cmd.exe in the addmusic folder. Make sure its a copy of the actual program, not a copy of a shortcut.
And how do it copy the actual program? It just copy the shortcut.
Here is what I did:
1: Extracted the Mario game.
2: Created the folder "Music".
3: Put my game in this folder and called it smw.smc
