First off, I want to say that this is NOT a replacement for Yoshi's Mission. This is just something to do while I wait for stuff to get finished for it. Now to the hack.
Hello, folks! Did you go to this thread thinking this was a misplaced emulation thread? No? Well good for you. If you did, then this is a hack. I've been working on this for the past week or so in secret. It's much simpler than any other hack I've worked on. Time for some content.
Story: Mario was playing his Game Boy and got sucked in! Now it's up to you to get him out.
This is the title screen, which is still a work in progress. Note the words "Push start to play". As soon as you push start, you go directly to the first level. No intro, no overworld. It's very much like a Game Boy game such as Kirby's Dream Land in that sense, which is what I was going for. Also I drew the graphics myself.
Yup, the first level is based off of Super Mario Land. What did you expect, it was one of the Game Boy launch titles!
At this point you might've noticed that literally everything is in black and white. Once again, I'm trying to capture the feeling of playing a Game Boy game. And if it had color it just wouldn't be the same.
Watch out, Fly! You're about to receive one hell of a concussion!
Looks like that Fly isn't the only one getting a concussion...
Mario, you know looking at the Sun will make you go blind. Oh wait, Game Boy screens don't seem to have a Sun because they're always so dark.
Well, now you know what path to choose for the highest amount of coins. Good for you.
In traditional Super Mario Land fashion, there are two level endings! The higher one gives you a bonus, and the bottom one gives you... absolutely nothing.
So yes, that's it so far. Each level in the hack will be based off of a classic Game Boy game. Can you guess which one is next? ;)
Oh yeah, and you have to beat the whole hack in one sitting since there's no save points. Heh heh...
