Game Boy (Cancelled, but enjoy the unfinished demo)

Crap! This is Great!

At first i actually thought it was the old Gameboy game with a SMWsprite..

But no,its all ExGFX.

Its Amazing!
I am a bot.
Still have no idea what Game Boy game level 3 will be based off of. Remember, guys, it has to be a platformer for the original monochrome wonder brick and has to have a graphics set in the Graphics section.
@wiiqwertyuiop I was considering Tetris, but I'm not sure how I would pull it off. Having Mario avoid the Tetris blocks seems like it's been done to death already.
@Lui37 Metroid 2, eh? Well, there aren't any graphics from that game in the Graphics section, and I certainly don't want to wait for someone to draw them. The entire reason I started this hack was because I'm waiting on someone to finish drawing some graphics for me!
@enjoirider 2 problems with Pokemon.
1: It's an overhead game. There is an overhead patch in the Patches section, but it doesn't allow you to specify what levels are overhead and which ones are not.
2: I can't think of any way to make it exciting without some serious ASM skills. I'm not talented in the ASM department at all.
@BBkaizo I wasn't even aware that was a game. Regardless, there are no graphics from it in the Graphics section, so...
@1UPdudes Again, there aren't graphics from it in the Graphics section.
@K3fka That's not a bad idea. Sure, it is SML3, but it really has almost nothing to do with SML. One problem: there aren't any graphics from it in the Graphics section. Sure, there are graphics of every OTHER Wario Land game, but there's like, 2 Wario Land tilesets and none of them include the BG.
@Chanagaburu Isn't that a port of Donkey Kong arcade? Sorry, no ports.
@MarioStarLuigi Once again, no graphics for them.

So yeah, the major problem is the lack of original Game Boy graphics on the site. Maybe I could get off my ass and rip them myself, but I hate ripping graphics. I'm sure I'll think of something.
Well looks like your gonna have to rip some GFX. If you making a GB styled hack then you gotta do some sort of manual work. Its a bore I know but once you get a tileset done go craxy with it and use it to its full in a level. :P

Yes and no. Only two of the many levels come from the arcade game.

EDIT: It's only the first four levels.
Just back here to browse a bit.
This game is amazing!! O.o

I loved the idea! Althought it's a pitty to see such beautyfull graphics in black and white. Dont get me wrong i loved the game boy theme though.
HEY YOU!!! =D CHEK THIS OUT!!

I was trying to look and see if there was anything on Spriter's Resource that you could just copy/paste into an ExGFX file, but I didn't really find anything. But then again, that site IS meant for sprites, not every graphic for the games. The only thing that I could find that would be anywhere near useful is from a game called BattleCity (I've never heard of it). If you want a link to it, I can give it to you, but I somehow doubt you'd want to use them. Here it is anyway

Oh well, I tried :(

Well, I've figured out what game level 3 will be based off of. It will be based off of...
Undisclosed.
Yeah, I'm not telling you all quite yet. Let me tell you that getting resources for this hack is a nightmare. It seems that the Graphics and Music sections get no Game Boy love at all. The Kirby's Dream Land level doesn't even have music yet. I'm not joking. It seems nobody who has porting skills likes Game Boy games. I have the same problem with level 3. There are no songs from the game on the site, and I can't port. If anyone wants to port a song for level 3 for me, shoot me a PM. If you want to help me out and port the Kirby's Dreamland theme, I made this request a while ago. If not, hopefully something will happen.
I wanted to help you so I made this port for you.
If you like it I'll drop the txt.
That has to be the best SPC I've ever heard. You sir deserve s trophy. I must have the txt. I'm going to put you at the top of the credits in the music section once I have the song!

I agree with moltensnow. That sounded amazing.

It looks really good, however, I think you should add layer 3 that looks like the borders of a gameboy screen, and make the colors green instead of grey, for authenticity.
Ok, here you are.
Green Greens
Awesome. Just awesome. Thanks for porting that. You really helped me out there. :)

Might as well tell you all that level 3 is Metroid II. There were no graphics of it on the site, but Lexator used them in one of his hacks so I used those. Oh, and I have permission from him, so don't freak out.
I'm going to go ahead and say right now that I've already finished porting the song he requested and sent it to him, so there's no need for anyone else to port it.
soundcloud / bandcamp / twitter / buy/stream my EP / buy my touhou music / buy my NEW album!!!
Mmm...
Ok, this is an updated version of the port.
Now it should work even in bsnes, but when playing with both snes9x or bsnes it causes the audio crashing when entering in a pipe that leads to an area with a song that uses echo effects (like the pipe in level 105).
I can't figure out how to prevent that.
I tried to remove the echo from the port, but that problem still remains.

(I hope the previous sentences make sense)

Awesome, can't wait to see what you'll do with it! Or at least, how far into the tunnel you'll go.

Also, it's good to see that people are helping you out with some ports. Can't wait to play the finished product ^_^

Speaking of the finished product, do you know how many levels are going to be in this hack?

Cool hack!
@enjoirider I do know how many levels the final hack will have. But my lips are sealed for now. ;)

Also I just wanted to say sorry for not showing any new screenshots. I normally only hack on weekdays after school and I haven't had much motivation because there were lots of distractions this week. I'll try to resume next week, but don't expect screenshots until Tuesday at the earliest.
Here we are again. Would you look at that, I've lost motivation. I've been thinking this over for a while now, and I've decided that I'm done with hacking. Hacking SMW certainly was a novelty back when it was new to me. I mean, who doesn't want to create their own Mario levels? But now, it's stressful to me. I think the biggest problem for me was that I was too ambitious, but didn't have the skills to fulfill my ambitions. I can't draw graphics, I can't port music, and I can't do ASM. That pretty much rules it all out for me. And no matter how hard I've tried to learn any of them, I never remembered what I learned. Always having to rely on others is stressful as can be, and I just can't take it anymore. So I'm cancelling all of my hacks. Mario's Epic Adventure, Yoshi's Mission, Game Boy, and all others are officially cancelled. Don't expect any updates from them. However, I'll still be on the site, simply because I like it here.

Dammit I can't think of a good ending to this post...
