Super Mario: The Next Adventure - this hack is dead, don't bother with it.

Standard

IMPORTANT UPDATE.
super mario: the next adventure's soundtrack has been proven to work
on snes9X version 1.41!
the whole soundtrack passed!
it even did well on SMW2's world map medley!
and thats a LONG song that uses a LOT of notes near the end!
should i test it on snes9X V 1.51?
Sometimes, I like to hack SMW. This is rare though, but I always try something new.

uhh...cool i guess...
You should test your hack on all major emulators. Those include: Snes9X, ZSNES and bSNES, newest versions.
I have Changed. Perhaps for the better, or maybe for the worse.

the hack was already tested on the version of snes9X i tried
(version 1.41)
and on zsnes, it was perfect!
although bsnes is different, how do i use it?
it first says "insert cartage" when i open the file tab.
so i assume it means open my rom, but i dont think thats the case,
because i recall it not showing my rom.
how do i work bsnes?

I couldn't find your hack in the Hacks section, the Hacks Waiting to be Moderated section, nor could I find it in the Hack Removal log.

Are you sure you released it? (I want to test this bad for no reason)

Alright, I have to say... this hack is pretty bad. It would probably be removed had you uploaded it to the "Hacks" section. So, here is every single error I could find in this hack. I took a long time getting all of these, so I hope you actually fix these errors.

Here we go:

Three errors here:
1. You shouldn't die on the title screen of a hack.
2. It's a 1-1 remake. You shouldn't remake levels from an official game, as this just makes the hack look bad.
3. The "ack30" letters have a black background.

1. The "item" in the status bar makes the item box cutoff.
2. Why are there random red letters and numbers?
3. You should capitalize "welcome". Also, why does it say "CUSTOM MUSIC COMING REALLY SOON!!" when there is already custom music in the hack?

Unedited overworld?

1. Bad status bar palette.
2. The ground's palette is iffy too. It's too bright.

Capitalize "mario", "i", "my", "peach", and every instance of "bowser".

1. Yoshi is really cutoff. Why?
2. Two moons? That's really not necessary. And they both have different colors for some reason.

Mario's climbing pose is cutoff, and doesn't fit with the normal small Mario.

A clearer look at cutoff Yoshi.

Why is this turnblock solid?

Why does this block act like a POW-block? How am I supposed to know that?

1. That slope is cutoff.
2. What's the point of the coins?

1. There is some dirt around that land-pole thing.
2. Why do I bounce up and down on this block?

1. Mario's hat is cutoff here.
2. The pipe palette is weird.

That palette is very bright, and clashes with the pipes.

Why is this "used" block the same style as SMW, but not SMB, which the room is themed upon?

When I break these brick blocks, it makes the pipe cutoff.

Why can't I jump through these bridges?

1. All of these corners in the water are cutoff.
2. Remove the line on that corner tile.

Why does this piranha plant have a red stem? It's ugly and might cause VRAM errors. Use the piranha plant fix patch in the patch section.

Those cement blocks are cutoff to the water.

1. Why are these throw-blocks here?
2. This section is really flat.

That pole looks very weird, and is cutoff when it connects to the cement block.

I have a lot more, but please fix these first.

You can find the hack in his My Files section.

Oh wow! That was pretty bad. I mean, I've played bad hacks before, but the one reason this is really bad is your egotistical attitude, making you seem like you're going to be the higher-up on hacking. With this kind of quality I've gone through, I'm actually quite more confident about my hack.

Seriously, just quit this hack. I can't say anything that hasn't been said already. It's not good at all, and adding patches and sprites does not make it better.

Convert your ROM to a .sfc file with snespurify, which should come in the download for bsnes, then open it.
Your layout has been removed.

i might quit this hack, but there is a chance i'll delete the IPS patch and redo the BAD things about this hack.
i'll make the bridge in the SMB themed bonus room act like a rope,
and put an info box telling you about the blue ! blocks of this hack,
and no more craping around with custom Map16 blocks,
and more mario sprite re-doing.
so im killing the IPS patch until improvments are made.
in other words, the hack is dead until further updates.

Big hint: It do not matter what or how many custom stuff you re adding into it. Be it custom or not, what matters is how cleverly and criatively you use what you have.
Well, if you're improving it, the hack's not dead!
Looks like this hack has a lot of issues. Well, submitting it to the hacks section won't give you any chance of approval but you can improve your level design. Try to improve it first. Maybe your hack will be better with them.

Play hacks like Rise to the Challenge; that one has some superb level design that you could get inspiration from. It did for me.

okay, i have fixed SOME problems, but others will have to be removed althogeter, like the left vertical pipe. its made in map16,
but doesn't work so well, and the water cutoffs is just a unfixable problem, but level design has changed slightly.
check my latest photo of the hack.
plus, the shell bro warning message block is a little more helpful,
because theres more invisible blocks near him,
and the tilesets have changed for world 1-1/alternate world 1-1.
its now a ExGFX tileset.
i am fixing my hack, so when the IPS patch is reuploaded, check it out

yczedit: was it really necessary to quote that whole post? (hint: no)

EDIT: i just released a IPS patch of my improved work
2nd edit: OH CRAP! i forgot to remove the hammer sprite! its GFX is glitched up!
3rd edit: okay, i think i fixed everything i wanted to fix, so now its being modderated as a hack.

Actually, it isn't. You can make a simple edit in YY-CHR to make the cement blocks and ground tiles square.
Steam: controversialbread
Or with some palette messing, colour the transparent colours to the blue colour. Something like in caves (Vanilla Dome 2 is an example).
Delta's already done it, but I'm going to list the errors I found when playing the one you submitted:
---------------------------------------------------------

Cutoff where marked.

Unedited overworld.

Cutoff item box.

Why is Mario's head inside the block?

Cutoff water, handrail and bush.

Big Mario discrimination.

Cutoff swimming animation and lots of cutoff water.

Weird climbing animation.

Cutoff water and handrails.

Same thing.

Bad note block palette, and HORRIBLE background palette.

I can jump in here. Remove the bottom layer of cement blocks.

I shouldn't need to have a shell to get one coin. Either move the block one tile to the left, or put something of more value inside it.

Cutoff where ground meets pipe.

I need to bounce on an enemy to get up here. Lower the invisible coin blocks by a tile.

Cutoff.

Random tile?

I fall through here.

Cutoff on flowers.

Cutoff rope. Twice.

Cutoff running animation.

Wrong mushroom tile.

Completely unedited.

Weird wall tiles.
-----------------------------------------
Yeah, you`ve got some work to do.

i AM going to fix this in the next version.
most things will be fixed, like wrong tiles, and i'll use an unedited climbing sprite,
the climbing animations are weird, sure, but i sprited it myself. im not a good spriter.
can't think of a message for the end of 1-3.
because you fall at 1-1 (normal path) at the red staircase, i'll remove the brown platform, and lower the cement blocks at the start of the level.
still trying my best.
not sure if i can fix cutoffs.

yczedit: please don't quote posts that big if you don't absolutely need to

Did you really have to quote all of that?

But yeah, you have quite a few things to fix.

The main thing I'd work on if I were you is the palettes, and most of all, level design.
