Briefing: The Final Factory leading up to Norveg. The first area will lead to a miniboss created by Sonikuu. Other details have yet to be decided.

Don't bother claiming any sublevels or ExGFX right away, since I only want someone to design the main room itself. I'd also prefer if it is someone who has already had + completed a level in this project since they'll have a good idea of what I'm looking for here. Please don't consider this an "official" sign-up though - anyone who wants to try their hand at it can, and if one appears to be shining above the rest, we'll use that one in the final version.

Electricity remains a very good gimmick for the first half of this level. I think we'll need to get a custom BG made (something with either computerized tech-y stuff in the background, or even something with a few portraits of Norveg).

I imagine this section will play out for 2-3 minutes at the most, at which point we can throw in a midway and link it to Sonikku's sub-boss. Looking forward to playing this.
This one screen shot owns practically everything! All it needs is a Background that says "We're in the deep shit now".

I'd need to play the IPS to judge it; but for now I can say that if they aren't too hard to dodge, and they give a warning before they appear, then they should probably kill Mario instantly, especially considering this is the final level. I suppose you should warn the player about this in a message box though.
SMWCP2 is only using custom graphics though, not rips.

Well, I suppose it time for an update. Currently, I do not have anything IPS wise for this level yet as I am still awaiting for the laser sprite before I throw up anything for testing.

I do however need a background for the level...

What kind of BG do you need? Do reply in detail however, and I may be able to cook one up, since nobody else seems to be taking up the offer. (If TheGamer sees this and is like yeah, then you can give it to him as he's much more oriented with the style of this hack than I am)

Other than that, it might take time since I'm already cooking up a background for my own project.

I think what we decided on was that the first section of the level (what Lightvayne's covering) would be a laboratory, so there's a base. He's running with the concept of electricity, so you should play around having that worked into the BG. Looking at the tileset in LM, you'll have BG1, the entire right half of BG3, and bits and pieces of FG2 to your disposal.


Actually I'm using parts of BG3 for the animation.

Also pretty much what MrDeePay said. The 132 tileset is already in the base rom so you can kinda of get an idea off of that.

An idea with the background, since you are working with electricity, how about some teslacoils being shown in like some "window" hole in the walls, some spacious columns like on SMB3's fortress levels or castles, shelves with beakers and chemicles on them between the window holes, and above it all, just some fancy wall with a picture of Norveg.

This is just a BG idea... nothing special really.

You and S.C.O.R.P.I.O.N. are particularly good at drawing backgrounds, actually. If either of you wanted to try something final-ish for this that fits with the foreground, you're welcome to. I'd actually be interested in seeing what you could cook up.

Just a suggestion.
I guess I'll try my hands on that. I've always had a feel for "Final" level things as they are my favorite types of levels to design in a hack. The thing to finish it all off! The epic finale!

From what I remember, it grabs the first 100% free bank it finds (it ignores RATS tags, no sane person ever protects 32 kilobytes of 00s). Porting to a new ROM and using this tool before inserting ExGFX should solve it.

...but yeah, that tool is pretty crappy.

Well, Just for another update, there still hasn't been much progress as I'm now currently waiting on SNN to insert this into the next base rom per Alcaro's request.

There was one p4 was trying to code for me that so we wouldn't have to do this, unfortunately it didn't seem to work. :/

I remember recoding the spike cluster sprite because it inserted in bank $E0 back in SMWCP. It is possible to fix it.

You can PM me the sprite in question, if you wish. (Idk if you're using the same version as the one available on the site)
I am willing to make it compatible with banks $40+.

Are you going to be able to work around the fact that I won't be able to get cluster sprites inserted into the base until I transfer everything to a new ROM (total pain in the ass and I'm trying to put it off for as long as I can)? If not, uh .. I'll see what I can do. You could always use the cluster tool on YOUR version of the ROM or something in the meantime.

I got it working in my version, so I'll post an update soon. Work has been keeping me busy. :P
