What is the status of this boss now?
I've been trying to finish up Doc Croc first since it has been easier to work with than Dryad. But everyone has made good points though I'm not going to start all over from scratch.

Mind posting a progress report on this?

I haven't updated this in a while o_o

Anyways, I've looked into some of the suggestions above (in the previous pages). Here are some of the things that I've changed in Version 2.

- Boss is moved over a bit to not run into the wall.
- All enemies disappear when defeated.
- Apples don't bounce as wildly as before.
- Less spamming of leaves.

I still have the code on when Dryad smashed into the wall for creating apples. Using it conflicts with Dryad's nature hence why it's not an available attack. In trying to incorporate flashing fruit before it falls, there just doesn't seem to be enough room to do that especially since they are disguised footballs. Inspiration for this boss has been kind of lacking for me ... hence why updating this boss has been a bit slow.

EDIT: Let me know of any other suggestions to make this boss more interesting that is implementable.
My suggestions...

-I suggest to add Throw Routine, where mario throws green apples at the boss.
-If you want, add the Ground Pound Routine for the boss. This is a boss for the World 2, there's something easy for this.

Other than the ceiling being 2-3 tiles too low and the hilarious side frame she has, the boss is fine on my end. I can come up with another decent-looking room if necessary.

I'm not sure about the frames, that would have to be done by ladida because I'm not good at graphics. As far as the room I can move it up one tile but not too much more because of the footballs and slopes to make them have some direction.

From Lightvayne, as far as the apples themselves I slowed down to about 1/2 the rate at which they drop. They still bounce high but they do land pretty slowly for a W2 boss.

This (alongside Boss Jelectro, but eh that name will probably be kept) is the only one without a name.

The only name I can think of is Crasilva (portmanteau of crazy and silva)
... isn't the current title, the Dryad, enough?
It sounds good to me, but if it's thrown out the window I recommend the "Force of Nature".

We're going to be adjusting this boss a bit. First off, she has a proper name "Alraune", instead of just calling her Dryad.

Secondly, while I did try to fix up and polish the old design by Ludus, Magi thought it was easier to just start over and rework her design entirely.



Right here, Magi gave Alraune a Piranha Plant motif for a few reasons:

- Recognizable entity from the Mario franchise, tying the character more closely to the universe smwcp2 is set in and bringing familiarity for the player;
- Ties in with the theme of the entire level of being about piranha plants and related species;
- Makes for a motif that's easy to work with on the character, making her cohesive and implying she's some sort of ruler of the species (which, again, ties in with how [Briar Mire] has vines and piranha plants everywhere);
- The player is able to tell immediately that the sides of the sprite are dangerous and should be avoided


While I wasn't keen on the rework at first (I thought it was a little too busy), I can definitely see it works well in her favor considering she loves Munchers and Piranha Plants.

Let us know if you guys think the name "Alraune" works well for her, and if her redesign by Magi works well, too. We'll be tweaking the boss a bit to make her a bit harder and more interesting to fight, tieing in with her theme rather than just flying around, diving, and dropping apples and Munchers.

...Oh yeah, and "Deltarune". Magi said that as a joke every time I said her name. There, I did it. Happy?
