Tip: Layer 3 backgrounds and tides disappear when you hit a message box, so unless you apply this fix, plan your level around that. For example, you can add a sublevel without layer 3 at the start/midpoint, and include your message there.

I'm making a hack called "Mario and the missing memories" and the only thing I cannot do well is level design. I have got a story line and an overworld. I have used all 6 submaps but not the overworld. There is no special world. I have custom music, custom bosses and custom sprites. you must complete every level to win. It would be helpful if you give me level ideas of any kind. Thanks to everyone who helps. You will be mentioned in the credits if you wish (for helping this project).

Sounds like you're off to a good start. Have you made ANY levels yet?

It would be great if you could share the storyline and maybe some screenshots of your submaps and any levels you have already made so that people might be able to get a feel for the flavor of the hack. That makes suggesting levels/gimmicks much easier.

What is the basic theme of each of the submaps/worlds?

Anyway, project threads need to have screenshots to show within 24 hours or they will be closed.

If I moderated your hack, there was apparently a 90 percent chance it was rejected.
If you are using ZSNES, you can press F1 to take a screen shot, and then just switch the format of the screen shot to PNG and hit enter. After that just upload it to a file sharing site. A really good one that I use is imgur, it is only for pics though.

He DID use screenshots for when he uploaded his hack (I think its been
rejected. :P), But it Draaloff has not uploaded screen shots for this

Hi everyone! I can only garantee a reply at weekends, and at other times you may have to wait until then. Sorry. Also, i can upload some screenshots at the weekend hopefully. SS1: The BG palete looks ugly. Please, change it. If it's a completely vanilla hack, use another palette option. I'm not really sure but shouldn't there be a comma between "here" and "I"? Just saying.

SS2: The sign has an odd palette. I'm not sure what are those slanted hills doing here? The world looks like space or a void of nothing. Also, their palettee isn't the best one.

SS3: I don't like how the glass blocks are used as a ground. If it's a castle level, why not use castle ground?

SS4: Looks kinda plain. Some holes or rivers would make this submap much more fancy. Also, what's the black on the sides? Is that WIP?

SS4: The palette kinda reminds me SMWCP. Maybe because it looks really similar (or identical) to the W4 submap. Again, the sign has a bad palette and why is the black on the sides?

SS5: This palette also reminds me SMWCP for some reason. I don't know if you imported these palettes or what but they looks similar. Issues are the same like in the previous submap.

SS6: Looks like a ghost :D. I know, I know but why do some upside down ledges have lighter or darker cliffs than the ground? Shouldn't they have the same palettes?

SS7: Not a fan of the castle look but whatever.
World 7 (True final world)
I decided to make one more world on the main OW. This is it. Mario will normally begin on the star, there is no level where he is in this screenshot.

This is the final castle in world 7 with the path event triggered.

I have changed the corners in world 4 for similar ones to fix a problem. If you want to see what they look like now, let me know.

It seems that you have something going here. I do like the palette in the fourth world, and the design of the fifth overworld makes me smile a bit. But your execution is dragged a bit, as the designs seem out of proportion or just really plain. I would recommend planning out the worlds better. I would do this by sketching them out. It helps me out. Also, there's a real lack in levels for the hack. For the first world, in my opinion, there should at least be five levels, then you should progress on that number for each one.

So far, not bad, but not good either.

I have made world 7 bigger, and I can post some screenshots at the weekend. I have also slightly edited the other worlds.

This hack looks cool. It's defenitly progressing better than any of my hacks.

I think the palettes for the signs in world 1 and 4 should be fixed. it just looks wrong.

I like the SMB3 feel I'm getting from this hack. You know, in the sense that all the worlds are submaps.

The black border is kinda weird. Is it suppoesed to be just sort like a "Fadeout" effect? If so, the rom does that well enough itself.

One last thing. I don't like the way Mario talks in the beginning. It's just my opinoin, but couldn't you just explain it like a narrinrator?

Other than that, good hack so far. I really like the idea of a "Castle World". I've always tried to make one of those.

Well, some palettes look ugly. Please, fix them.
I have redone OW 1. It now works better with the level background for the world. I will post a screenshot at some point, maybe tomorrow, maybe at another time. By tommorrow all the bosses will be finished and I might be designing some levels tomorrow, I can post some screenshots of them if I have time (and the new world 1 OW). Thats all. P.S. If anyone wants to design some levels for the hack, send me a PM.

I'm good at making medium or difficult levels. Well, the problem is that I'm pretty busy with some other works. :/
