snes9x ruined all snes roms

Link Thread Closed
I downloaded an emulator called Snes9x because the game Bubsy In Claws Encounter Of A Furred Kind wouldnt work with ZSNESW. But now all my roms like "super mario world.smc" and "yoshies island.smc" are now "super mario world snes9x rom". ALL my roms are like this now, when i click them it opens snes9x, even when i download a new smw rom or any other snes rom its only for snes9x. I cant even uninstall snes9x because its not a program you install int the first place. Luckily i can still do smw hacks but this is a huge inconvenience because ZSNESW is what i used to make videos, i could fast forward and rewind games, save states and etc. But snes9x is an utter piece of crap.

Please help me, i dont know what to do! :(

When life gives you lemons, make lemonade. Or give them cyborg implants and conquer the British.

>zsnes
>far better emulator

lolololol

Also, you can change the file association for file types like SNES ROMs. I hope you're smart enough to change it to open up in your shitty inaccurate emulator.
layouts suck
...you're saying that your ROMs now don't work with the Lunar tools? Nothing has happened to the actual files; they just now have a program associated with them, so the .smc extension doesn't show up anymore.

Well, you did say zsnes is a "far better emulator" than snes9x, that was silly.

As for your problem, most likely you just don't understand file associations. Try opening up the programs you are attempting to use directly and using the open ROM options within those.
Guys shut up, this is Tech Desk, not general discussion.

To fix this problem, right click any of your SNES ROMs and click "Open With" and then "Choose Default Program".

The screen will come up with several programs, if you're lucky it'll have ZSNES, if not, click the browse button and search for the ZSNES .exe

When you find it, click "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file" and then press ok.

Dude, most people are unaware of ZSNES's problems. Rather than insulting, why not try educating?

Ok, what ROM's are you opening with LM?
You can only open a specific types of SMW.

Question: What is the correct version of the Super Mario World ROM?

Answer: Most hackers use a headered ROM image of the American (U) version of Super Mario World.
Nintendo released four versions of Super Mario World for SNES. These versions are Japanese (J), American (U), European (E) (V1.0) and European (E) (V1.1).
Nintendo also released SMAS+SMW for SNES. This ROM contains both Super Mario All-Stars and Super Mario World. A few SMW hackers use SMAS+SMW.
Nintendo also released Super Mario Advance 2, the GBA version of SMW. The hacks and tools for the SNES game do not work with SMA2.

Mod edit: Sorry, but we don't want ROM links around here.

You can only open certain SNES roms in LM, nothing else.
Semi-off-topic, but when I try to select the default program for SMC ROMs and select ZSNES, it won't register, and instead selects some other non-sequitur thing like Notepad or 7-Zip. I have ZSNES in DESKTOP>Emulators>ZSNES.

You should've started a new thread, this is a 2-3 month bump.
But anyway, are your snes roms in .zip or .smc?
Oops, forgot to check the date... Sorry about that. And yeah, it needs a new thread anyway.

Anyway, they're SMC.

Hi, sorry for replying to this old post. I have snes9x downloaded and instal on my pc but when I download the ROMs the emulator can't find them. When I click open in the emulator I go in the folder where I download the ROMs and there is empty. I download the emulator from *redacted* if I switch the website and I download the Snes9x Emulator from another website should work or the problem is another. I want to play Super Mario or Super Mario Kart with my friend.
firstly you should of made a new thread instead of bumping this one which is 7 years old. second we don't hand out roms or sites where you can find them so I went ahead and edited that out of your post and lastly you need to make sure the roms are either .smc of .sfc Also make sure your emulator is up to date and get version 1.6 from either Snes9x.com or from our tool section

I'm going to close this but if you still require help please make a new thread for it.
