Mega Man 16-bit remix project

I've thought for a while that porting and using music from 8-bit games is a dilemma: if you port it accurately, it will have only 4 channels (or maybe 5) and probably sound empty when put into a SNES game. On the other hand, if you try to fill it out more, it's no longer accurate to the original. It's kind of a lose-lose situation that way. What you can do, however, it deliberately make the music sound more like something that would actually play in a SNES game, averting both problems. You have 8 channels to work with, and since it's a remix, it doesn't have to be precisely accurate to the original. Thus was born the Mega Man 16-bit Remix Project, which has no official name. (It wasn't intended as a successor to Project Megasong, nor was it inspired by it, although if we want to do something similar, that's fine.) I'd pick one Robot Master stage theme from each game, along with a few others such as the odd boss theme or fortress stage theme, and turn it into something more fitting for the SNES. After one round of this, I'd submit the collection of ports to the music section and start another round. I'd keep doing that until either I got sick of it or ran out of tracks to port. I don't know what to do about Mega Man 7, 8, Mega Man & Bass, or Wily Wars, since those are already 16-bit or higher, but either making some other kind of remix or just outright porting them would probably be the best solutions. I made this thread for two reasons: 1) to let people know about the project, and 2) to invite anyone who wishes to join in on it. You don't have to use all 8 channels for each track, but I'd recommend it for most of them. You don't have to use samples either. Some of the ones I do will use custom samples (I use Addmusic 4.05, so that means .bnks) and some won't. If you do sample them, though, it would be nice if you could use one of my 8 general-purpose sample banks, which contain a variety of samples from various games. (I used to have 9, but then I realized that while $E5 doesn't work on the overworld, my method of getting samples and ADSR with $DA works just fine.) So, here are the basic track lists, minus some short extras like stage select themes and "weapon get" themes (those are still available for porting, though):

??? I was 100% sure I already replied to this yesterday ???
Maybe I didn't press the reply button, I don't know <.<

Anyway I'd like to claim Dr. Wily 1 form Mega Man 3.
I'M TAKING MEGAMAN 4 - FINAL BOSS AND NOBODY'S GONNA FREAKING STOP ME.

Also, I'm pretty sure I know how this works, I just don't have the best eyesight 'roud, and can't read blobbed paragraphs.
All right, I've updated the first post with you guys' claims. I should mention that there are a couple that I'd like to do, but not until after Addmusic 5 comes out, and in the meantime, anyone else can take them. (The final boss music from Mega Man 9, for example.) Also, when porting stuff from the games that are already 16-bit or higher, you could either remix them or just make a straight port...or even both if you wish.
For the record everyone. Me, Atma, BusterBeetle, Tornado and a couple others did something similar to this in 2009 but back then our skills were rather lacking and we used exceedingly overflowing echo, we were just a bunch of n00bs back then so hopefully this one turns out better according to the new standards.

Click here if you want a few shits and giggles =P
I thought Project Megasong was just for porting the music outright, though, not remixing them to sound more SNES-like.

Also, Slash Man indirectly reminded me on IRC of something that I hadn't thought about: using Mega Man 7 samples for them if desired. The samples you could use would be pretty limited, since Mega Man 7 uses about 47 KB of ARAM for sample space, but I or somebody could make a couple of .bnks that at least contain the smaller samples. In fact, I'll do it.
I have a question, are you remixing Shade Man or just porting it normally? I'm asking this because I was going to do it myself on request, but if you're going to do it then there's really no point in me doing it as well. Also I'll go ahead and take Elec Man. Don't know when I'll get around to actually doing it, but we'll see, I guess.

I'll probably just port it normally. You can still do it if you want, though, since it will be a while before I get around to it.
Question, do I like have to do this quickly? I'm rather slow at both completing and remembering ports.
MM3 Wily stage 1-2

I used the first of your general-purpose sample banks. They're really useful.

I'll tell EvilGuy this. Will you be doing it sampled, unsampled, or both? If you're only doing it sampled, I'll have to do it unsampled because that's what he requested. It doesn't really matter at the moment anyway. I still have to finish Terra before doing anything else.

Nope, take as much time as you want. I probably won't be doing mine very quickly either.

Nice! This sounds really good. You might consider making the rock organ just a tad quieter in some parts, such as the beginning (and by the way, you don't need to set the echo buffer to $1D00 in that case; $4500 will be fine), but this is the kind of good work I was hoping for. And good use of the samples.

I'd be doing it unsampled.

Edit:
Mega Man 2 - Wily Stages 3-5
Mega Man 2 - Boss

I know those are two of the lamest music tracks in the history of Mega Man, but it's because they're so lame that I decided to do them. I thought maybe I could make them sound at least slightly better.
I might give Flash in the Dark another go since I hated my old port of it, if so; I'd like to add it to this project if it's good enough?
(maybe some other 9 songs too if I have the time)

REMOVED
(I hope this isn't too big a bump)

I'd like to claim Commando Man. I was originally just porting it for the heck of it (I liked the melody of it), and then I thought of this.

So yeah, I'm claiming that song.

EDIT: Done! Commando Man (RockMan10)

Also; I might give MM3's Wily Stage 3/4 a shot. a shot.
Ok, I'd like to claim Spark Man, Wily 3-4 the fortress boss theme from MM3, and wily stage 1 from MM7. For the latter I don't think the samples will fit in a bank, though, so I'm most likely doing it unsampled for now.
Note that I won't do them quickly, since I have the bad habit of porting songs by ear.

Also, @imamelia, we're supposed to send you our finished ports, right?
Should we do it by posting them here or via PM?

Since when is porting music by ear a bad thing?

Posting them here would better, although you could submit them to the music section if you want. I was just going to submit mine one round at a time (one Robot Master theme from each game to start out).
Here you are.
The bnk I used was misc 1, it's specified also in the text file.
RM3's Wily 2 is still a very big WIP, but here is a preview of what I've done so far: Wily Stages 3&4.
Just ported this so why not?
Mega Man & Bass - Magic Man

Enjoy.
