You know that section in 2-3 where there are switch blocks (the ones above those teetering platforms) that lead to four red coins?
I couldn't find a reliable switch for them anywhere. Granted, there was one a little past the teetering platforms, but that one was too far away, and I couldn't make it back to the blocks in time.
Therefore, what I had to do was flutterjump down and carefully throw eggs at the coins. It was very tedious and difficult. I may be missing something obvious, but is that the way you're supposed to get those red coins? Or perhaps I'm missing some hidden Winged Cloud with a switch inside...
Aside from that, brilliant job on the levels I've done so far. Currently at 2-5 on the finshed hack at the moment.
Wow, that brown Chomp rock puzzle in 3-3 was... surprisingly complex. Pretty fun though. (Was that added after demo 0.95? I don't remember it.)
Edit: Also, that one room in 3-4 where if you fall in the water, you're forced to suicide on the spikes still exists... didn't you say you were planning on removing the water (or otherwise making it so it's obviously death if you fall down there)?
You can find the switch by jumping into an alcove right before those blocks. It's in a hidden ? cloud. (This hack tends to hide a lot of invisible ? clouds in places that seem to be dead ends.)
Wow, I haven't had that much trouble with a YI boss in a long time. (To anyone who hasn't reached the new boss of 3-8 yet: Expect a challenge, especially if you're going for 30 stars.)
Sorry, I completely forgot about removing the water... Other than that, if you jump very accurately, you can get back on normal ground. (I'll remove it nevertheless)
Yeah, I admit the passage in 2-3 is cheap, so I will add some cross-section platforms plus move the Midring a little. (And I'm going to try and make it impossible to reach the red coins with eggs)
The Chomp rock puzzle was added after 0.95, since I found the former room rather boring and bad.
Also, I'm glad, that people actually have trouble with 3-8's boss, since I like him quite much.
Also, once you get there:
Please don't complain on how Secret 6 is too difficult, since I know it's RIDICULOUSLY HARD (and unfair at times). If you can make it without Savestates you're definitely a pro.
I don't usually play SMW2 hacks but this one looked pretty good so I gave it shot and so far I have to say that I like. I've gotten through 6 stages of World 1 but it's starting off really well without it being a totally overly hard one. Good job.
Well, I demoed the first 4 levels of this. My pics of areas that concerned me is at home and i'll post them later, but one thing bothered me right off the bat is how the hell did anyone get 100% on Marching Milide without getting hit? I couldn't jump high enough over him? How did anyone else do it?
Replaying through this and I'm gonna echo the praise for that chomp rock segment in 3-3. I love how you can incorporate tricky exercises in logic relatively early in the game while still keeping the difficulty at an appropriate level, since you're not really in much danger of dying during that section. Just tearing your hair out trying to figure out what's going on! And once you do it's not super-precise to set up or anything.
OK, so I'm home from class. Now I can show the one area I was talking about:
With the way that cross section is designed, I jumped down there thinking it was floor, only to be greeted to a pit. It was so inviting to go down there.
I also thought the area in 1-4 where you had to destroy those thorns before the platform drops in the lava was pretty intense for just World 1. Cool, but tough.
So far I like it. I'll keep updating as go along about my progress.
Personally, I would have loved to see Baby Luigi as the star this time instead of Mario. It would greatly separate and make your hack more unique from the others. that alone would make me want to play it more, but it's just a suggestion, though. Good job.
Nah, not changing the Mario thing, I gotta protect the tradition.
The only thing changed anyways, then, is the color of his cap...
Also, sorry if that looked inviting, but I actually find it pretty obvious as a pit, since how the heck are you supposed to get back up there? (Also, the name's "Use The Eggs!")
The 1-4 thing I actually don't find that hard, because you are well-prepared, since you can see it coming.
Anyway, I'm glad you enjoy it so far.
Since it's pretty likely all of you need help for Secret 6, I'm preparing a guide through the level.
