This is the finale for SMWCP2, make sure to make this a fairly difficult level that correlates in difficulty with that of other levels in World 9. Phase 3 is all about the theme of perplex and enigmas. The initial idea is to have Mario feeling a sense of loss and confusion as in the maze or puzzle of finding his way out. Make this maze and/or puzzle something unique that is not already done beforehand such as described (going behind and in front of the foregrounds as in Kirby's Epic Yarn). You can extend this idea or change the idea around a bit, so long as the theme is portrayed and there's a consequence to that.
ASM - PM me if you need Blocks/Sprites for this area.
Music Choice - Any fitting song or one that you can propose.
P.S. YUP, YOU BET, NO KAIZO OR ITEM BABYSITTING.
EDIT: Don't make this level any longer than 2 to 2-1/2 minutes long. (this is a puzzle so there's a small extention but not a big one).
EDIT2: Here's the ASM for Going Behind And In Front of the FG: ASM
Section 3: What If I Can't Figure Out This Puzzle? (Perplex) - Mario is transported into a world with a confusing maze. Only when he gets out of it can he get win. I have some ideas about this maze though it's a go behind the BG and you can walk to another section of it (kind of like what was in Kirby's Epic Yarn). The consequence is to wander aimlessly thorugh the maze.
I have drawn and trashed like 5 or six pages... trying to think of one that would fit excellently. After we start this level, we are really going to have to communicate between each other, to make sure this goes swimmingly. We should decide how many screens we should split between each other too. And how are we going to progress? One of us work on half of it then send it to the other person? If that is the case, which one of us should start it off? I wouldn't mind starting it off, I got a ton of ideas floating around in my head.
Camoslash and I agreed on doing a maze for the level (of course, using the custom blocks cstutor made for us). And I tested out those said custom blocks, and they work just fine. I reserved Map16 tiles: 3190-3193 by the way.

Alright, I have changed the color of the Background Color to a glowing Purple (like it is ex-animated =D), and the palette of the FG is a combo of purple and blue. I am just using these palettes temporarily though. I will show it off later, just wanted to let you guys know I am making some progress haha. Also I need to claim a spot for the block too before inserting it; or that would be bad if I took an already used spot haha.
I was thinking that we should reconsider how we're going to work with this level. Perhaps camoslash could design the maze and I could either touch it up or recreate the maze in Lunar Magic itself.

Wow! I'm loving this concept! I was say "Wow! This so cool!" while trying out stuff. I was a bit confused at first, which is part of the level, but the kind of confusion that's amusing!
Well, I hope you and Camo can communicate on what'll happen on this!
Interesting usage of the maze blocks so far. I think using those blocks in combination with the ON/OFF switches will work nicely with some small puzzle elements.
BTW here's a little something I was working on (just randomly) when I was testing this stuff out. It shows a full bodied work or usage of the indoor/outdoors gimmick (you don't have to follow this example): Video With Doors.
Sorry haven't really been active here =/ Been trying to get my A2MT level cleared so I do not have to worry about anything else. And I am going to check that out Tom =) Need to actually get going on mine, Since I have had 1 or 2 screens done since a few weeks ago. Also, where did the block get inserted into the ROM? Eh, I will just check the reservations on the blocks instead haha.
That's great. Anyways, I reserved Map16 tiles 3190-3193 for these blocks, for your reference:
3190: backmario.asm (The door that allows Mario to go behind the background)
3191: behindwalls.asm (Works as a cement block when Mario is behind the background)
3192: frontwalls.asm (Can only be passed if Mario is behind the background)
3193: insideledge.asm (Has no effect normally, but acts as a ledge when behind the background)
