Debating buying Watch Dogs 2 at full retail price to support the developers. The fact that the game's self aware and deliberately campy and the PC port is actually good is coming close to persuading me. It's just (understandably) so much money. The game has mostly positive reviews, and the negative reviews don't offer an actual legitimate reason to avoid the game (they're mostly just complaining about drm and frame rate drops which is like, "ok").

tbh i haven't actually sat down and played a game in a month and i just want to be excited to play a game again! Fallout: New Vegas and Portal 2 have been the only two games I've ever felt legitimately excited to play and I want that feeling again. I hate scary games, but with what I've seen of Resident Evil 7 that might be the one that can get me excited to play a game day one again.
ask me if i give a f*ck...
I found this review pretty insightful. Playing it as a stealth game as he mentions sounds very interesting. I say go for it.
That's the video that got me interested. I saw it and when I saw those cutscenes I ran right to steam. When I saw it was a pre-order I sat back and waited to see a review of the PC port. When one came out it was very positive so yeah.
Either way I forgot christmas is right there so I'm just going to ask for it and hope I get it. If not I can always just buy it later.

ALSO I FOUND THE GAME I SHALL HYPE
It's called Seven: The Days Long Gone! It is an isometric stealth RPG designed by Witcher devs, but what really hooked me was the game director's take on their post-apocalyptic world:

Yes, they are aware that it took place, but they are focusing on everyday affairs. Nobody is despairing about how the world was a great place before. Life is hard enough and you need to take care of your own business.
Also you need travel visas to go to different areas of the map, so while you can sneak past a checkpoint and skip the visa, you're always running the risk of getting caught.
I'll keep myself open to disappointment, but I hope this can be a game I can get behind. They have a video of 20 minutes of gameplay so at the very least I can see what to expect.

Looking forward to getting Pokemon Sun. Is it as good as people have been saying or at least better than X and Y?
As someone who's been playing Pokemon from the beginning and has played every generation, it is miles better than gen 6. I couldn't bring myself to complete either Y or Alpha Sapphire out of boredom and lack of interest, but Moon is a refreshing change while still feeling familiar.
had to give up at the final boss of romancing saga 2 'cuz i didn't have the necessary spells and "mikiri" moves that make the whole fight possible. i expected a difficult fight but this one tops everything. maybe next time. for now i mark this game as "beaten".

You may think about Final Fantasy XV whatever you want, but holy shit, that music! After the mess that was Final Fantasy XIII, finally a Final Fantasy game with a good soundtrack again. No surprise, knowing who was responsible for the music, but it sure makes an already great game a hundred times better.
Feel free to visit my website/blog - it's updated rarely, but it looks pretty cool!
I've been playing some Freedom Planet lately. It's a very fun game. I can see why a lot of Sonic fans love it. I enjoy playing as all the characters.

Freedom Planet, huh. One of the games I should look into sometime, I heard about it quite oftenly along with various other games.

This is me playing some Densha de GO Professional, got an "Excellent" unexpectedly (it basically means stopping exactly 0cm away from where you should stop in the station, which is really freaking difficult to do). This is really way more unknown than I thought it would be, then again, a lot of series are.
Densha de GO! isn't really popular outside Japan as it, well, never came out outside Japan.
Also train nerdery isn't as mainstream outside of Asia lol

Wrapping up Adventures of Lolo 1. At Floor 10, Room 2.
Navigating the Gols (the fire breathing pink dragons) after they wake up in this stage is hellish, what with the NES' controls.

I like the solution to the Leepers (the green Jigglypuffs that fall asleep when Lolo touches them).
Puzzle games are nice.

Yesterday I completed Final Fantasy XV and... holy shit. I just... WOW! I really need to put my current feelings into words, so a long-ass post is coming, but I'll try to put everything that's somewhat spoilery into the spoiler tag.

First of all, let me say that if you are even the tiniest little bit into Final Fantasy or even JRPGs in general, you just owe it to yourself to play this game. If you're one of the people who won't play the game just because the main characters look like a Japanese boy group or just because there is a car in the game, you're making a big mistake. In my opinion, both of these things have a deep story meaning to them (yes, even the characters looking like a boy group). Just give the game a chance if this is the only thing bothering you.

So now, where to begin. Well, probably with the story, as that was the aspect of the game that had the biggest impact on me. Better should put this whole segment into a giant spoiler tag (although I'll try not to spoil anything from the story itself, only what kinds of feeling the story invoked in me). Let me just say that the story turned out amazing in all unexpected kinds of ways. Basically, everything I expected to happen didn't happen and and instead a lot of unpredicted things did happen. Basically, if you think that you can predict the outcome of the story miles in advance, you'll probably be surprised more than just once.

So for the slightly spoilery part: this is "unfortunately" not a Final Fantasy game with a happy ending. Nope, this is no FFXII, no FFX, no FFVIII, not even FFVII. If anything, this game comes closest to Final Fantasy VI in impact of story, but even that game ended on a way happier note if you ask me. Though while I said "unfortunately", this fact really is the game's strongest aspect. I can't remember a single game that had me so emotionally invested since... well, EVER. Once the story gets started, it just draws you in and won't let you go until the very end. This happens way faster than you expect it - that is to say, the story turns out way shorter than expected - but it'll surely leave its mark on you. On multiple occasions, the game just feels like ripping your heart out and tearing it apart, and when you expect it to put your heart together again, it instead jumps around on it. By the time I was done with the game, I just felt beaten.

The game does allow you to return to doing sidequests at (almost) every point in the story, though there is a "point of no return" for the game's world, and once you've reached that, the only way to return to doing sidequests is, I kid you not, a time travelling dog. This kinda demotivates me from doing more sidequests, since there is always this taste of "pointlessness" in your mouth. It's like "I know the world is going down, anyways, so why should I bother helping it?". The option is there, though, so you don't have to be afraid of missing something in the world.

Alright, with the story part out of the way, let me get to the gameplay. This is where the game unfortunately wasted most of its potential, and there were a few minor disappointments. That is not to say that the gameplay was bad, not even to say the gameplay wasn't any fun. No, no, quite the opposite. I had a lot of fun with the gameplay, I just feel like some potential was wasted and that it could have been a truely amazing game had the gameplay been fleshed out a bit. As it currently stands, Final Fantasy XV doesn't beat Final Fantasy XII in the "Final Fantasy game with the best gameplay" department, though the gameplay is fun, nevertheless.

When I break it down, I mainly see two problems with the gameplay. First of all, the battle system is really, really simple. Again, this doesn't mean that it isn't any fun, quite the opposite. I had a lot of fun with certain battles. However, your options do feel very limited in the long run. I guess you could say that they streamlined the battle system for "real time battles" so much that they had to make a few compromises and drop some variety that would have been "too complex" for this kind of battle system. For example: your main means of using magic in the game is simple alchemy involving only the elements fire, ice and electricity. This magic is usually pretty strong and is often worth using, but it still feels lacking when compared to the sheer amount of spells in previous FF games. You do get another method of using spells later in the game via a certain item, but it only adds two more spells to your capabilities and one of those becomse useless pretty much as soon as you're out of that dungeon.

Another aspect where this simplicity shows is in your partner control. You can give commands to your partners, but you can only ever equip one command per character at a time (which you then use via the d-pad). While you can enter your menu and change equipment at any point in the game, which is a good thing, since this of course slows down the battle flow, you'll rarely ever do it, so pratically speaking, yeah, you do only ever use one command per character per battle.

One thing I do love about the battle system is the warp mechanic. It's a rather simple mechanic, but I don't know. It just works and it's fun. It's fun to attack enemies from a distance (which also greatly increases your damage output), you can use it to dodge attacks, you can use it to regenerate health and MP, it's a simple mechanic, but it works and it's fun.

Oh yeah, summons. Shouldn't forget those. The game has the most amazing summons in the entire Final Fantasy history. That is, the animations are amazing and they wipe out almost everything immediately. Unfortunately they also have a few minor problems. First of all, you have little to no inlfuence over using them. You can only use them once your group is in danger (which is reasonable, since they're so powerful), and the game does a horrible job at communicating whether it's working in the first place. There is no animation and no HUD element indicating that you're doing it right, so you just gotta hold that L2 button and hope that you're doing it correctly. Aside from that, the game also picks the actual summon you get at random - or at least that's what it feels like, I've read that this is actually influenced by a couple of factors, but it does feel random. This means that during my entire playthrough, I actually got Ra Muh three or four times, Shiva once, Leviathian once, Bahamut once (I think this is actually a scripted summon and the only time you can ever summon him) and Titan zero times. I would have loved some more control over the summons, but oh well, seeing how strong they are, I guess it's acceptable.

Oh, there is one more thing about the summons that they absolutely DID get right, and that's the music. The ability to summon is always indicated by some kind of "danger" theme, which really gets your adrenaline pumping, and then once the summon succeeds, some kind of chanting kicks in which really makes the summon all that much more amazing. The music in general is probably the most amazing aspect of this game. Yoko Shimomura outdid herself once again.

Alright. So the second "problem" I have with this game is that it's not really an open world game. Now it probably isn't very fair to say this. First of all, it's hard to even classify this as a problem in the first place, since really the game being linear sometimes is what gave the story focus and probably made it so impressive in the first place. Secondly, I'm not sure if the game was ever really advertised as an open world game to begin with. I suppose that's just the vibe I got from all of the game's trailers, and at some point I just assumed that to be the truth. I expected the game to walk the same path as Xenoblade Chronicles X or Breath of the Wild. That is, giving you a lot of freedom and only limiting that freedom minimally in a few places to push the story. This turned out not to be the case. Now this isn't to say that the game's overworld isn't huge. This certainly isn't Final Fantasy XIII, which just feels really small and narrow and only somewhat opens up towards the end. This game's overworld is really huge and gives you some exploration right from the beginning. However, being huge isn't the same as being open, and this game certainly isn't very open most of the time. Even ignoring the very linear structure of the game in it's second half (which is only really there to push the story, so I can accept it), the game still isn't all that open, because the parts of the game that should be open - that is, its giant overworld - use the streets as an artificial, but very obvious mean of limiting your freedom. You literally can't jump over the majority of guard rails on the street - they act as an invisible barrier - so unless you find stairs that lead into the field, you just can't get there, and the streets themselves have a few roadblocks and barriers that you can only pass once you've progressed far enough in the story. This certainly isn't like Xenoblade Chronicles X or Breath of the Wild, where if you can see something, there is usually a way to reach it without having to progress the story first.

Now as I said, it's hard to objectively pass this as one of the game's problems, since really it's only based around my wrong expectations, and after all, most other Final Fantasy games were like that as well. Still, if you had the same expectations as me after seeing those trailers, I thought you might want to know this in advance.

Now what else is there to say about this game... there is a cool fishing minigame which I really had fun with, riding Chocobos is fun and actually useful in this game (at least so far, don't know if they'll still be useful once my car can fly), the music is amazing, the visuals are top-notch and there seems to be a good amount of sidequests in the game, although you do have to progress the story far enough to access a lot of them.

So as a conclusion, I can emphasize once again: If you are even the slightest fan of Final Fantasy or JRPG, you should give Final Fantasy XV a chance. It isn't great in everything it does, it does have its flaws and it might leave you with some bad taste in your mouth, but there are a few aspects in the game which I personally consider brilliant and those alone make the game worth checking out in my opinion.

I just played thru Ghost Trick. It's a neat little puzzle/visual novel with some slapstick and the cutest cartoon dog I've ever seen. I really like how fluid the animations look.
The epilogue showing the alternate timelines and old-Missile talking to Sissel was kinda mind-screwey and reminded me of the true endings of 999 and Virtue's Last Reward.

I've been a little busy recently with school work and the like, so any freetime I could devote to playing video games has been slim. Since winter break is starting though, I'm finally gonna have the time to try and beat DOOM (the 2016 reboot) on Ultra Nightmare for the first time. I've tried before and got pretty far, but...explosive barrels are a bitch.
i've been replaying ff4 and i hate it

I found this surprisingly fun and free mobile game called 'Brain it On.' It's a physics puzzle game where you draw shapes that fall, and use them to do tasks like putting a ball in the glass, separating the magnets, or making the ball hit the right wall. You can get 3 stars in a level by drawing a specific amount of shapes or fewer, beating it in the time limit, and just beating the level. You'll need a certain amount of stars to unlock more levels. It's not really the frustrating kind of difficulty, yet.

Fuck my life! #smw{-_-2}

In 2013 or 2014, I once embarked on this magical journey of trying to breed a shiny Froakie in Pokemon X. Not just any shiny Froakie, though, but a shiny Froakie actually usable in online battles. I was well prepared for this task. A male and female Froakie as parents, both having the perfect nature, six perfect IVs, the hidden ability and one of them having another nationality, boosting my chances for a shiny (together with the already obtained shiny charm) to approximately a 1 in 500.

After breeding 444 eggs back then, I did indeed get a shiny Froakie... and it ended up inheriting the wrong ability (read: not the hidden ability). The chances of inheriting the hidden ability would have been 60%, so it actually ended up on the slightly less likely path. I was pretty frustrated back then. I did breed a few more eggs afterwards, but eventually put the project on ice.

Fast forward to late 2016, where after beating Pokemon Sun, I was like "you know, I would still kinda like that shiny Froakie", so I picked up my old Pokemon X and continued breeding precisely where I had left off back then, and after just over 100 eggs, I did indeed get another shiny!

So guess what. It ended up inheriting the wrong ability AGAIN, and now I'm even more frustrated. I feel like a dick for being frustrated on christmas, and I'm aware that the chances of this happening were always quite high still, but considering how long egg breeding takes in Pokemon, man, it just still feels like you were totally going against the odds, even when you aren't.

Have you tried moving it all to ORAS? I'll never touch XY to breed again after getting used to the ORAS method of just holding down to hatch eggs. I don't even think it's that easy to hatch in S/M.
You should also just get the shiny charm if you don't have it. If it was me, I wouldn't even have a single hope for shinies unless I had that.
