21st! Not half bad considering the amount of people who participated, and the fact I super rushed my entry, haha.

Just had a look through the judging files. I like the honest feedback. I see the main criticism of my entry is the lack of execution and difficulty, especially with the chainsaws. I made it as an early world difficulty level so I couldn't add many fancy jumps, considering the nature of the level, but it isn't really an excuse for the lack of creativity in gameplay, which I'll definitely try to further improve when I'm making a full hack or something. Oh, and the reason most of the chainsaws are open ended is because they are there to cut the wood and give a reason for the falling platforms. They are there more as aesthetics and as a warning. I never really thought about using them gameplay wise which is really silly by my end!

Also also, I'll be let's playing the entire contest in case anybody is interested in how a random dude plays their entry blind. I'll begin in a couple days because I'm about to finish the main let's play I'm doing.

Got 48th (20.17/30). Not too bad, considering I finished it at the last second and most of the complaints from AxemJinx and MrDeePay were because it was rushed, which were completely valid complaints.

I had fun making my level, up until I was having a panic attack with 5 minutes to go, and I'll definitely enter again next year (and not wait till the last minute to finish it up).

Ummm... ya, about that, I've had it off for years now (I keep it off because if I didn't I'd have the warning pop up every time I saved a level because of my "building tiles" I have in my leve), I would have caught that error but since I was rushing at the end to get it done, so I didn't fully test the level.

Congratz to the winners, I'll have to check your levels out for myself sometime

First, congratulations YCZ! your level was my favorite level (design-wise). You totaly deserve it =)

So, I shared the 27th place with Dinomar, not bad eh. But, to be honest... I really don't deserve it. I've been looking at my level a couple of times after I submited it, and I got to say I just hate it more and more each time. The net gltich was a huge dilemma in the design process, and that damn "demo koopa" in the start of the level - to prove my own "super level design skills"... that koopa has become the slowest koopa in the world to me, he just never finish his purpose before dat player is already dead. Man, I could pointed out more than the judges already has done, but thanks alot for the confirmations to all three of you! You've done a good job judging!

That's a shame actually. There's quite a few good levels in the middle too, at least, the upper half.

Seems like some of that was due to some big differences in judge scores too, which is interesting.
Well I didn't expect too much cause of my hasty finish (hence some problems)

Peeday:

@Uthrix: Don't sell yourself short- it wasn't a terrible level by any means, and if you can see all the issues the judges brought up and more besides, then you're well-equipped to improve :b The same goes for many of you, actually- if you take this experience as a chance to learn and improve, that makes the commentary I wrote more than worth the effort.


@Vink: I'd be willing to provide some feedback and maybe a "psuedoscore" if you upload a working patch, but it wouldn't be officially judged.

I thought the rom was clean, but now I can not do anything about it. I will take part at the nextt contest.
Eh, 47th. Wasn't expecting such a mediocre score, either, but whatever.
The thing is, the level was tested - by myself and other(s) - and the issue of the super koopas not really being that big of a threat never really popped up. I understand why them not really being too much of an actual threat could be an issue, but honestly direct interaction isn't the only way an enemy can impact the player.
But, again, whatever. Maybe next time I'll do better.

i got 69th. trololol

Well, I wasn't expecting anything, but 69th isn't a good place for my standards. Looking back on it the level didn't really hold up to the quality i hope i was beggining to produce nowadays. I have no complaints, as i can't argue with any of the comments made. So, congratulations go out to the trophy winners, and such and so forth.

Well lets hope i have time to improve my skills before the next contest!
