Mario Kart: SMWC Grand Prix

Race Mode
Players: 2-12
Objective: Players race around a track to be the first to cross the finish line after a set amount of laps.
Once everyone passes the finish line. Points will be awarded according to the place you finished in.

How to start: First you need to submit a 30x30px avatar to represent you. Once enough players join, the game will start. Before starting, players will have to choose their class weight option (explained below). During the game, Players will have two options during their turn. Roll the dice and/or use an item.

Selecting Weight Class
There are 3 options you can choose from before starting: Light, Medium and Heavy. There are advantages and disadvantages to each class so be sure to choose wisely;
-Light Pros:
-You can guess 2 numbers at the starting line and after being hit with an item for a better chance at a boost
-You will never roll one after being hit with a item.
-Light Cons:
-You have a 25% chance to be bumped off the road by a heavy player landing on your space, causing your next roll to be -1 of what ever your result is.
-You have a higher chance to never roll a 6

Medium:
-Even balanced player that will play like normal

Heavy Pros:
-When at full speed, you have a high chance to never roll a 1
-When guessing a correct number, you get a 25% chance for an extra addition space to move forward
Heavy Cons:
-After being hit with an item, you can never roll a 5 or 6, and no boost from guessing the correct number.

Moving: When you pick "roll the dice" you may also choose a number between 1-6. If the random number generated matches the number you picked, you will move the amount of spaces on the dice roll + 1. If is doesn't match. you will just move the amount on the dice roll. If you do not post after an update, you will lose your turn. If you miss 3 turns in a row, you will "lag out" and be booted from the game.

Coins: Coins can be used to buy kart upgrades. Coins will be won depending what place you came in and may also pick up loose coins on the track if you land on the space. You may only carry a max of 20 coins during the race. Every 10 coins you have will allow you to move 1 extra space when you roll.

Shops: At the end of every race, you may visit the local shop and use your coins to upgrade your cart or buy badges to help you in future races. You may only have 1 cart upgrade and 1 badge equipped at a time.
Kart Upgrades:
- 100 Coins {T2}Good Tires - Allows you to pick 2 lucky numbers when you roll for a better chance at a boost
- 120 Coins {FT}Fast Tires - You will not roll any "1"'s, however, you cannot get any boost by guessing a roll correctly.
- 30 Coins {SL}Slow-Go Tires - Not sure why you'd want this, but we have them. You will not roll a 5 or 6. May also have a bonus feature attached to them
- 50 Coins {DT}Deceleration Tires - Roll normally or you may choose to only go 1 space.
- 50 Coins {HC}Heavy Chassis - Reduces the knock back of items by 1 space. but are no longer able to get a boost for guessing a correct roll
- 150 coins {BT}Boost Tires: Correct rolls give you a boost of 2 spaces in addition to the normal boost.

Badges and other items:
- 30 Coins {B}Blue Shield - If you are in first place and have star or mushroom in your inventory with a blue shell coming at you, you will automatically use it to defend yourself to boost away
- 40 Coins {Y}Yellow shield - Your chances of spinning out on a banana are dropped to 50%
- 80 Coins {S}Shell Shield - If you have a draggible item in your inventory (ie banana, shell, etc) and something is shot at you, you have a 50% chance it will hit your item instead. It will destroy your item, but will keep you from being knocked back.
- 80 Coins {O}Boo Badge - You can pick which item you would like to steal instead of it being random.
- 50 Coins {M}Mushroom Badge - Mushrooms will boost you ahead 3 spaces instead of 2.
- 60 Coins {K}Knock-back badge - attacks on others with shells will knock them back 3 spaces instead of 2
- 100 Coins {1}Impatient badge - You will move first regardless of what order your post was in. If more then one person has the badge, the first post among these badge owners will go first, however you can no longer get a boost by guessing a roll correctly,
- 5 Coins {A}Auto-Roll Dice - One time use. If you cannot post with-in a 24 hour period, this will auto-roll for you. Does not take up a badge slot.
- 45 Coins {NJ} Ninja Badge Percentage change of being hit by any items will drop 25%
- 30 Coins {S1}Bowser Badge - Will Place a over-sized Bowser Shell in your item slot when the Special item is used. It only goes in a straight line and will knock anyone in its way back 3 spaces. It will disappear if it hits a wall or goes out of the screen.
- 30 Coins (S2}DK Badge - Will place 5 bananas in your inventory when the Special item is used.
- 30 Coins {S3}Green Troopa Badge - Will place 3 Green Shells in your Inventory when the Special item is used.
- 90 Coins {S4}Red Troopa Badge - Will place 3 Red Shells in your inventory when the Special item is used.
- 10 Coins {S5}Bob-omb Badge - Will place a Bob-omb in your inventory when the special item is used. Can be tossed forward or backwards like a banana, but will explode in a 2 square radius at the end of the turn knocking anyone in the way back 2 spaces
- 30 coins {S6}Lightning Shield Badge - Will block attacks and give you a boost of +2 for 2 turns
- 50 coins {S7}Ice Flower Badge - Will place an Ice Flower in your inventory. Toss out 2 balls of Ice behind you or in front of you to freeze your opponent. 75% Success rate


Using an item: You may use an item before, during or after you roll the dice on your turn. Depending on when you use it, certain items will have a different effects on either you or other players, so be careful of when you say you want to use it. You can only carry up to two items at a time. If there are more than two people on a spot when an item is shot, you must select a target. If you don't, the target will be randomly selected. If a Blue shell is shot and there is more than one person in the lead, all players on the spot will take the hit. If you are knocked back by an item, you will not collect any items or coins or be affected by any loose items if you land on them on the way back. You can Pick up an item by passing over or landing on space that has the item boxes on it. If it has 4 items on it, there will be a 100% chance you will pick up an item, a 75% chance if there are only 3 items boxes and so on.

What are the items:
Mushroom: Will move you 2 spaces ahead.
Green Shell: Green shells only move in a straight line and only have a 25% chance of hitting a target, 50% if you specify a target. If successful, they will knock the target back 2 spaces. Be careful, They only bounce once, so if it misses your target, hits a wall and misses the target again on the rebound, there is a chance it may hit you! They may also be shot backwards.
Red Shell: Goes around corners and aims for the person ahead of you and knocks them back 2 spaces. May also be shot backwards, but only goes in a straight line like the green shell, only has a 50% chance of hitting and does not bounce.
Banana: Can be tossed up to 1-5 spaces ahead or dropped one space behind you. If a player lands on it, they go back 2 spaces. There is also a 20% chance that passing over a square with one on it will spin you out and end your turn prematurely. If tossed on a spot that a player is already currently occupying, there is a 20% chance you will spin this out right away.
Star: If used before your roll, your roll will double. Anyone in your way has a 50% chance to be knocked back 1 space. If used after your roll. You will only be invincible until your next turn. Cannot be combined with any other item.
Lighting Bolt: All Players, except you, go back a set amount of spaces and lose their items (1st-3rd=3 spaces, 4th-8th=2 spaces, 9th&10th=1 space. If used before your roll, anyone you pass will be flattened and go back an additional 1 space.
Pow Block: All players in front of you lose their items on the beginning of the players next turn.
Bullet Bill: Blasts you 8 spaces ahead. Anyone passed during this time has a 80% chance of being knocked back 2 spaces. You may not roll the turn you are using this.
Super Mushroom: Will move you 5 spaces ahead.
Blue Shell: Will head straight for the player in first and knock them back 3 spaces and cause them to lose their item. Anyone in the way has a 50% chance of being knocked back 1 space. The resulting blast also has a one square radius that will knock anyone near the impact back two space.
Boo: Steal a random players item. It will also turn you invisible and protect you from attacks until your next turn.
Bolt Cloud: Will Super charge your kart to give you a 1 space boost for 3 turns. However end the end of the 3 turns, it will strike your kart and cause you to lose a turn and your items if you have any. The upside is if you pass another player while you have this, you have a 50% chance to pass it onto them!
Mega Mushroom:Enlarges the size of the player and adds +3 to the roll. Anyone passed along the way will have a 75% chance to be flattened and lose a turn. No one will be able to pass you until the effects wear off at the end of that round.
Fire Flower: Gives the player 5 fireballs that can be shot out forwards or backwards and will knock an opponent backwards 1 space for each time hit. 50% success rate. Must use all of them in your turn otherwise it will disappear.
Boomerang: Will travel in a straight line to the end of the path. has a 25% chance to knock back a player 1 space each hit. Can be used up to 3 times ANY time during that round. (ie, you post to move and use it once, later on you post again to toss it a second and /or third time). Item will disappear and the end of the round if not used.
Coin: Gives the Player 2 coins.
Piranha Plant: Will lunge forward and take a bite out of every player you pass knocking them back 1 space and boost you forward an extra space
Super Horn: Knock anyone in a 1 square radius around you back 1 space. Will also auto-block Blue Shells and other items if you have the Shell Shield Badge equipped.
Blooper: Block players view in front of you. Everyone hit on their next turn can only roll a 1-3.
Lucky 7: When used, you get a 2+ boost from a mushroom. Shoots a red and green Shell in your desired direction, drops a banana behind you, activates a star, a POW and a boo to turn you invisible and protect you the rest of the turn. No upgrades.
Special: NOTE: This item will not show up unless you have one of the Special Badges Equipped. Allows you to use your special attack. However, the item this activates will take up both slots in your item reserve. If you already have a 2nd item when you activate this, that item will be dropped. [No Upgrades]

Avatars:
You can create your own avatar to represent you. It must be 30px x 30px in size, or choose one of the default ones;
