I saw this on Myth Busters, it is wrong. Apparently the echo is at such a low pitch, that humans cannot hear it, but it is still there.

There are most likely a lot more errors.

I saw the same Mythbusters. (I'm a big fan.) I have to say, though, in all practicality, it doesn't echo if we can't hear it. That's debatable, though. ^_^

By that logic, if a tree falls and nobody is there to hear it, it doesn't make a sound. But we know scientifically that it does.

I was being technical: it creates sound waves, but a "sound" is what we think of as the sound waves reaching our ears. (Touche'!) Yeah... technicalities.
