So, I have been busy with other Ogg related things, mainly behind the scenes for it, but now I have made a castle tileset! Here we go:

*Feeds viewers a castle tileset*
I went for a YI feel on the FG, and a SMB3 feel on the BG (with the Chumpas on the walls etc.), and with the lava, the ExAnimation for it actually looks pretty cool in-game (each 8 pixel high row goes the opposite way, and it actually looks pretty cool in-game again!).

So, after feeding you that, what do you think?


BTW - I am not on the castle level yet (1-8), but I decided to draw the castle tileset so it's done! Also, ignore the bright blue BG, I forgot to add a HDMA gradient #mlp{aj} - and yes, I can see the little half-blue-half-green brick in the middle of the screenshot!
Oh my, the lovely level, only problem is the lava, it just doesn't look like lava (yet).

That's a pretty interesting and unique castle tileset. I agree with Daizo though, that lava looks sort of like sand. Of course, I can't really tell how it is like without seeing the ExAnimation for it of course.

The lava kinda looks more like sand to me, it's the dot texture that makes it that way. I'd say maybe try and tweak the original SMW lava to your liking. The HDMA and the tiles look pretty good though. :)
I'm actually not too sure about the gradient. It kind of clashes with the BG, which is a bit too light in my opinion. Darkening it a bit would make it better.
Also, that lava looks more like quicksand to me, probably because of the 'dot' texture, as 1UPdudes mentioned. Maybe getting a texture more similar to SMW's and adding some 'bubbles' would make it more lava-y.
The tileset for the castle looks pretty nice and colourful, though. It actually looks more fitting to a bonus room for me, but yeah, it would fit some kinds of castles. I'm waiting to see your use of it! :)

Hmm I think I agree Mario's Hat about the BG, but only to an extent. The BG gradient is fine, just needs to be a little smaller instead of taking up that much of the space. Other than that it looks fine. I really like how the FG looks. It reminds me of Yoshi's Island.
Those are som nice looking graphics TOS :). I do agree with 1updudes that the textire of the lava does look a bit sandy, so it might be good to try and change that.

Graphics: Outstanding. I like how those don't clash at all and look very chocolate at the same time. Great work.

Level design: From what I have seen, the level design seems to be very good. No flaws, no too hard nor too easy places, it seems to be superb.

Making slow progress, but a lot to do ATM. What do you think?
Well, as much as I would love to work on this hack, I cannot. Reasons being that I do not have the time, and I prefer vanilla hacking.

I also want to create better things with border-line vanilla hacks, I do prefer making them, and when I go all chocolate on a hack, I just don't finish it.

So, here we go, I made a locked IPS of whatever was in my Ogg hack, and now giving it to all of you.

There's lots of beta content in it, but it's so you know fully what I was working on. Many unfinished items in it as well, but it's playable. You can play levels one to three, and some part of four, but that's all I got finished. A beta title screen and all that.

Concerning the graphics, I will package them all up soon and release them. I might as well release Ogg as a player as well, although there is only small graphics.

I'm going to miss working on this hack, but I want to move onto better things.

Although that makes me wonder. If you're releasing everything you've made for the hack, why did you lock it?
Because I haven't released everything! I just released the main FGs and BGs, not any sprite ExGFX or anything like that #w{=P}
I'm quite disappointed that you've cancelled his, but it's understandable.
