First SMW Hack You Ever Played.

The first hack that I ever played... I don't know the name of. It was a very poor quality hack design-wise; the only thing I can remember about it was that the graphics for the wings were replaced with bat/demon wings. I wasn't even meant to play it; Raibys (Manaphy87 back then) meant to send me his own hack, but I received something else entirely. His hack was significantly better, but I don't remember much of it.

Other Submissions of mine!
Beats me what my first was. The first that kept my attention would be Brutal Mario; for all the flak it gets for sub-par usage of SMW's basics, it had a lot of good ideas with ASM gimmicks for its level design. Some were clunkier than others, but it kept things fresh.

The second I finished was Super Demo World. Mainly due to its overworld shenanigans; except the star world levels becoming inaccessible, I friggin' loved its overworld design. Lots of secret paths, levels, worlds, and fun stuff to find.

I did technically finish a few short demo hacks, but I don't recall which.
Oh my gosh,i can't remember...maybe it was Mario's trip to hell(SMW1 Hack)..Yeah,that was it.If no one played it,don't.Because the design is awful..Powerups everywhere,cutoff......Still,good thing i remembered.
Eeergh...maybe Brutal Mario...? It is the most common one, after all...infact, I'm not the only one that played this hack first.

I'm sure everyone here played Brutal Mario once!
The first SMW hack I ever played was called Frank's Super Mario World. It was on Acmlm's site (not the board but the main site). I remember when first discovering SMW hacking, and just Mario game editing in general, I thought something along the lines of "OMG NEW MARIO LEVELS FOR THE REST OF MY LIEF!!!111". When I finally figured out how to patch an IPS to a ROM and played it, I was like, "that's it?" It was then I realized not everyone is an expert designer.

The first SMW hack I ever saw, however, was Strange Mario World by Acmlm. I was really impressed from the screenshots, the level design looked really fun and the minor graphical tweaks were a nice touch.

Eleven years later and into my mid-20's and I'm still doing the same shit.
Just like aj6666: youtube -> smw stuff -> Brutal Mario boss battles -> amazement -> download Brutal Mario. I wasn't too sure which hack was the first, so I opened the oldest hack zip files I had. Then I had a great surprise: when I opened Brutal Mario's zip there was the site that I downloaded it. Then I just remembered everything: I downloaded it on a Brazilian website called Mario Hacks and there I discovered SMWC (it's an affiliate) and all about SMW hacking. :) It was back in 2009.
