An improved version of the old Gridlock Wars, now with actual starting! (hopefully)
--HOW THE GAME WORKS--
Gridlock Wars is a grid-based war inspired by both War and traditional RTS games like Starcraft.
The game is based around a medium-sized map with a grid. At the beginning of each game, each player picks one spot out of the ones on the map to start at. Then, players have a choice of either choosing a predefined tech tree, or creating their own using a template provided.
The game runs off of three currencies, each of which can be given custom names by the player. These currencies are:
- A basic currency for resources, default is "Supplies"
- A Technology level, represented by a number 0-5. Some items may require a certain tech level to make/research.
- Population count, default is "Population"
I keep track of all three currencies.
The Template can be found
here. (It comes with a guide too! :D)
--RULES--
1. I define all currency totals, not you. First attempt to do so will simply be dismissed, but repeated offenses yield strikes.
2. Only claim one starting point, and everyone starts with no more than 2000 resources and no tech.
3. You may define your own prices for things, but try to keep them balanced, and remember that I can change them at any time.
4. There is no negative resources, tech, population, etc. If you don't have the tech, resources, or population for something, you can't get it.
5. I have all right to tweak your tech trees as necessary to make the game fun and fair for everyone.
6. This game runs off a 3-strike ban system- Each offense is one strike, and when you hit four, you get removed from the game.
7. Oh, and watch out for the Modkill Hammer- Trying something you shouldn't will cause it to come down on one of your units. If you're lucky, it'll hit a weak one, but you never know if I might miss and hit, for example, your base.
--BARE REQUIREMENTS--
- Maturity
- Appropriate units, techs, etc.
- At least 10 units and 10 techs/upgrades
- Patience
- A somewhat stretegic mind.
--ADDITIONAL INFO--
- Each round you can move as many units as you wish as far as their preset move speed dictates. You can also attack, build, and research.
- There's a one in 300 chance (determined by RANDOM.ORG) that a random event will happen each round. These events vary from meteor showers to volcanic eruptions to earthquakes. The effects vary depending on the event, and can be beneficial, or problematic.
- Some maps will have multiple starting points of the same color- In free-for-all matches, whoever claims that color gets all the bases in that flavor, but in team matches they only get one.
- There are presently 4 match variants- Free-For-All, Team, Deathmatch, and Team Deathmatch.
- Deathmatch games give players ALL upgrades, unlimited tech, and 50,000 in resources. It also disables the Modkill Hammer and special structures, and makes events occur 3 times as often.
- There are rankings for games based on the required amount of eliminations for players is, eliminations of course being how many people the player has defeated. The 5 rankings are Copper, Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum, which require 0, 5, 10, 25, and 50 eliminations, respectively. These rankings will not take effect until at least 5 players have hit the requirement for each rank. Thus, only Copper games will be played until at least five players have five eliminations, and then Copper and Bronze until at least five players have ten, and so on.
- Boons MIGHT be implemented. More info on that at a later date.
- The amount of starting points varies depending on match rank, map size, and whether or not I feel like setting up a random duel.
