Hacks can still be fun and work on accurate software but it doesn't have to. You're making it sound like ZSNES users are all commanding that we drop BSNES support when that's far from the case.

I don't particularly know about "all ZSNES users", but the tone of that particular post - along with the very inconsiderate words - was practically a codifying example of "ZSNES elitism", and it wasn't like TRS was trying to provoke him or anything.

So if bsnes is like watching porn for the story, is ZSNES like cheesy 80's porn that is so corny you're laughing at it rather than fapping to it?

...

This just took a turn for the weird.
Dude, good porn has a good story behind it. I seriously get bored if it's just another pizza boy delivering a single hot sausage. If I care about the characters, I care much more about the fuckin'.

High five man. Totally.

Anyway, 9x for the win. I actually made a thread like this in my salad days, it's right here. I like 9x because it' a lot like the other emus I use, mainly Fceux. I have no reason to gain super correct emulation or a "snazzy" layout. I prefer down to the basics, simple Gui emulation, which I have been using for years.
Does that make snes9x the porn with good story and a lot of humor that you can both laugh and get off to? Sweet!

ZSNES elitism is just as bad as bsnes elitism. Just sayin'.
Quoted for great justice. I used to see it almost exclusively out of the bsnes camp, but I guess there are some everywhere. =/ I personally like things to be fair and balanced to as many people as possible, but it's difficult to come across that way.

Well, I was actually thinking snes9x would be the regular fapping porn.

And considering I'm the one that owns one, the sd2snes would be unusual foreign fetish porn.
I prefer Snes9x. While bsnes can run at full speed on my computer, it tends to lag when I turn a video filter on.

However, when I'm working on a hack (which is rare), I usually use ZSNES for quick testing.

The problem is, most, if not all, of the tools available on the site were coded with headered ROMs in mind.

Yeah. Wouldn't be too much of a problem if everyone released their source code, but not everyone does. You can use header magic though.
I like Zsnes and snes 9x ... I have vote in Snes 9x because he have a Perfect sound ... Zsnes is the Best because your speed and image
I just recently switched from using ZSENS to using snes9x, mostly due to the fact that the sound no longer seems off-pitch like older versions were, and also it's more like other emulators that I use.

While bsens (the 32-bit version) can run at full speed on my computer, it takes up a hell of a lot of usage, and makes it so that I can't really do much of anything else with it open and running. Also I kind of find it to be a slap in the face that I have to use an external program just to run .smc's. Granted when I went and read some of byuu's posts he didn't come off as elitist, but the comment MolSno quoted certainly doesn't help my overall opinion.
faithless pile of filth
Voted Snes9x. It's the emulator I've always used, and personally, I think it's more iser-friendly than the rest.

bsnes more than makes up for the lack of features with it's amazing accuracy, which is what emulators need more than anything else IMO.

What.

Well, I tried to word my post as best as possible so as to not start an argument. But whatever, I'll bite.

There are two problems with this statement:
1) You seem to be saying that having less features than ZSNES somehow makes playing a hack not fun. If that's the case, which is the source of the fun: the hack... or ZSNES?
2) You also have apparently pegged me with the so-called "bsnes elitists" because I said that emulators need to be accurate above everything else. Nowhere in my post did I state that "accuracy is the most important = hurr durr lets make my hack only work in bsnes", nor did I imply as much. You're simply making a connection that isn't there.

(I have the sudden urge to open up a ROM in bsnes and go "HOLY FUCK THIS SHIT IS ACCURATE.")

You don't?
The actual SNES console.
Your layout has been removed.
I personally like using bsnes because it's an extremely accurate emulator and that is a major plus when making a hack.

The reason why I even care about accuracy to begin out with is because I want my hacks to be enjoyed by many. And I think hindering people because laziness get in the way of making my hack accurate. Is not only a slap in the face for someone who doesn't prefer the emulator to make the hack work, but also to the people who are not that well invested into the SMW-hacking scene. You know, the type of people who come here to download hacks and nothing else. However, I still use snes9x for recording videos and taking snapshots while I use zsnes when I need a save-state from it, and I really don't care what emulator someone uses. Just take into consideration that not everyone uses the same emulator and making your hack accurate is a plus when trying to reach a large audience.
At one point, I primarily used ZSNES, but, starting sometime last year, I started gravitating more toward the latest version of snes9x. There are several reasons for this.

1. I've tried running bsnes on this computer in Accuracy mode, only for it to run at about 30fps. snes9x, while not as accurate, manages to run at a much more acceptable framerate while being accurate where it counts the most in SMW hacking: Emulating the SPC700.

2. Now that I'm no longer bound by a 5GB/month data cap on my internet like I was during the development of Super Mario Bros. 5 Reborn, I can make YouTube videos of my projects to better promote them and garner more feedback. snes9x's built-in AVI recording comes in handy for this.

3. There has been more than one occasion where ZSNES has caused my cursor to disappear. snes9x has never done this.

My preference for snes9x has caused me to develop a habit of calling users out on broken custom music.

Zsnes, due to familiarity.

However, with what I heard about Bsnes, I would also like to cast a vote for Bsnes, for being the truest base of accurate SNES emulation.
my favorite is bzsnes
