Hm, I've Last experimenting with different patch types, and I noticed that you can create for example Xdelta the patch txt also from a void. And after patching the empty txt you can just change the extension to the z64.
So you needed on this white, the ROM does not (this would be the compatibility problems between different versions no longer a problem), or would resist such a patch outside the gray area?
_____

Attention! I use Google translator, since I can not speak English. Not text mess surprised.
I don't know what's meant by "ISO" file, and I don't have any with the .iso extension, so I DON'T KNOW HOW TO FREAKIN' PATCH THIS THING IN PPF-O-MATIC. I want to be able to play "Super Mario Star Road."

(Hint: I have a SM64 rom with the .z64 extension that I expanded with M64 ROM Expander.)

Does this help? This should make the file show up in the program.

XD Randomness

I promise to never cancel my hacks
don't we also need to expand the rom with obj_import 16? after i used the frauber's program, i have no problems anymore

--------------------
when they say jump,i say how high?

when i try to open my rom to expand in m64romextender, it gives me this message. what does this mean?

edit: is there a way to convert ppf files into xdelta format? i find xdelta much more easier which does not require expansion.

and when i do patch the rom WITHOUT expanding, my emulator crashes and says "in a permanent loop that cannot be exited. emulation will now stop. verify rom and rom settings" and sometimes it also says "unknown cic chip".

Maybe you try something and actually "follow" the instructions given in this message? If it doesn't work, try to run it as administrator, as the message clearly says that your account has insufficient permissions.

The looping error happens, because the checksum isn't fixed aka recalculated. It's obvious, that without expanding, the patch's not gonna work well on the ROM.

When I was to create a patch for my finished hack, it says "File not equal to size." My finished hack's size is 64.9MB and the original ROM's is 65MB. Could you please tell me how to create a patch and make the size of the two ROM's exact?

add a huge amount of zeros to the end of the rom, that you are comparing with. (well exact the same amount of zeros, that's needed to have same filesize)
hmm... I never encounter that one. Did follow every step given in Tomatobird8 patching tutorial video? (1:20) Although the video is severely dated it seen to work every time for me. However most rom hacks size are a solid 64 mb. I'm not sure how your end up being 65 mb.

i use the end of the rom for some of my tools. whenever someone imports a title screen with my tool, the rom gets extended to around 65mb to have enough soace for additiona graphics.

also, if you look at SMB3D, i've allways put segment 0x08 at the end of the rom to give goombas more textures or things like that.

It's because I used Level Importer 1.8.1S patch. Maybe your ROM size is 64MB? My hack's size was 66,474KB while the original ROM was sized 65,536KB. It may be because of objects and levels I've ported?

I'll try to use the latest version which is 1.9.

I finally got the issue. I used Kaze's Model Replacer to replace the title screen.

I hope this isn't considered necroposting, but this seems to be the best place to ask for some help regarding patching.

Yesterday I downloaded Mario's Twisted Adventures and Star Revenge. I'll tell of my experince trying to patch one, then the other.

----------------------------------------------------------
TWISTED ADVENTURES:

1) I extended my SM64 rom with the Mario 64 Rom Extender 1.3b

2) Noticing that Rom Expand.exe and obj_import6.ppf are inculded in the rar, I play it safe and expand the rom, then apply the obj_import6.ppf with ppf-o-matic.

3) Finally, I apply the SM64_TWISTED_ADVENTURES.ppf with ppf-o-matic.

RESULT: For some unknown reason, it takes forever to patch, then once it finally does, my Rom's size is 12 GIGS. This also happens if I skip step 2) and try to patch it after only extending it through step 1). Project 64 will obviously (and unfortunatly) not read this 12 gig rom.

-----------------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------------
STAR REVENGE

1) I extended my SM64 rom with the Mario 64 Rom Extender 1.3b

2) I apply SM64 StarRevenge eng.ppf with ppf-o-matic.

3) I change memory size to 8mb in Project64 settings and load up the rom.

RESULT: After the rom loads up I get the Unknown Ctc Chip and Unhandled CtcChip(-1) in First Dma errors that, from what I've read here, is supposed to happen and doesn't hurt anything.

The game will work fine until I pick a file to start a new game, where it do the white fadeout and stay white.
------------------------------------------------------------

I'm using "Super Mario 64 (U) [!].z64" as the rom to the aformentioned hacks. I'm hoping I just have a bad dump of the rom from whatever rom site was listed, as I don't know why the hell else Twisted Adventure wouldbe jacking the rom size to 12 gigs haha.

On a unrelated note, this problem has caused me to man up and join the site after years of trolling it for it's awesome Super Mario World and Yoshi's Island Hacks. Great stuff :)

PS: Although I've come across some problems trying to patch my rom, I prefer .PPF over .BPS since .ppf's are much easier to opbtain with my ancient Dial-up. :)
Whenever I patch a PPF file to an extended SM64 ROM, I load it up on PJ64 and it comes up with this error message:

"In a permanent loop that cannot be exited.
Emulation will now stop.

Verify ROM and ROM Settings."

This only happens with patching, whenever I use a Pre-Patched ROM, it works just fine, but with some ROMs, I can't find Pre-Patched versions. I have switched the memory to 8MB so that's not the problem.

How do I fix this?

Download SM64 Level importer 1.9s, just look it up, you'll find it.
step 1: extend ROM
step 2: load rom into the level importer, say yes and ok to all the pop-up.
step 3: patch
step 4: set memory to 8mbs
step 5: play! :)

Some hacks Like Super Mario 74 require you to use the old importer. Just pointing that out. Newer importers wont work on hacks created with older versions.

Well, not to sound rude, but here we all speak english, so could you try to write what you want in english please? I guess (after using translation tool) that your screen turns black once you start the patched ROM. Did you enable 8MB memory in your emulator settings?
