SMW TileEdit - A new general misc. tile/text editor for SMW

SMW TileEdit is a Misc. Text Editor which could help editing much easier misc. text editor than other editors.

  • You don't need to specify where is Graphics folder -- SMW TileEdit automatically loads from ROM and supports both LZ2 and LZ3. But if you want a override the graphics decompression for some reason, put the GFX28.bin, GFX29.bin, GFX2A.bin and GFX2B.bin in tool's folder
  • You don't need to edit the Misc. Text again if you ported to a new ROM, you can export/import the tile data using this tool.
  • You don't need to edit tile-per-tile, since there are a option to edit using a TextBox (aka using text).
  • You don't need to worry about ROMs types. LoROM, FastROM, SA-1 ROM and even ExLoROM (8MB ROMs) works here!
  • It should work on XP, Vista and Windows 7 and maybe Linux if you override the graphics loading.

The editor is very easy to work. All tiles is zoomed by 2 (two).

Left click selects a tile.
Right click writes a tile.

Keys 1-8 changes the palette.
X toggles Flip X.
Y toggles Flip Y.
E exports the tiledata.
I imports the tiledata.
S saves the changes to your ROM.

If for some reason you need to override the palette, put the palette file (in YY-CHR format) with name as "fileselect" on tool's folder.

Including that, you could edit using text, which could make the editing process much less annoying.

You could edit player select too.

Download

In future version it'll accept editing Overworld Misc. Text and *maybe* Status Bar. Free feel to suggest anything.

Sweet. I always wanted to change the text for the intro. Good job! #smw{:TUP:}
Nice Tool Vilela, I edited My Misc. Text in this moment, heh, it's Simple to do edits.

E: You want to do a extension in this tool? For edit OW texts like "Continue and Save", or the names in Transfer Box Life, heh.
Looks very nice, but it needs minor tweaks.
First of, the "Edit using Text"-Button is unreadable with the Win2k style:

It would be nice to allow to change the Background Color to see the tiles better (in the Screenshot, you cannot see many things).
Thanks, I fixed that bug.
Also now you can change the background color as ShUriK KiD suggested. Go options -> background color. I could add others colors if anyone need.

Why not use a gradient or checkerboards for the transparent background? LM should also do that with the OW since it makes it difficult to see water paths.

Let's milk Sunny Milk. Then she'll have enough money to fund Sunny Milk Real Estate.
Everypony's digging with a shovel
the text that says "END" at the end of the Erase File texts seems to delete itself to blank after editing it's text, Can you please fix that?
@Hamtaro126: Hmm, appears that the N was using the wrong character and it gets replaced by '^' (unknown character). Thanks, it's fixed now.

@Wiimeiser: Sorry, I can't do that. My tilemap renderer is a bit limited. Also I guess the various background color options should be enough for now.

It seems that the Fix did not work, Plus part of the CONTINUE/END message did not save part way either...
Hmm? Are you talking about File Select or you managed to access the Overworld Misc. Text Editor? Because it was disabled since CONTINUE/END text hasn't working...

Could you show a screenshot?

Oh, The Download may have been wrong possibly, because I redownloaded it recently!

Screens:

Okay, for some reason the "Edit Overworld Misc. Text" button is enabled, and that editor is WIP and have bugs. Like that last screen.

Try editing a new ROM without using "Edit Overworld. Misc Text" and see if it still bug the erase and continue menu.

It now works, Thanks!
Yay, nice. I updated the tool now, the "Edit Overworld Misc. Text" menu has been deleted to avoid any problem/bug on ROM.

Now this tool is useful. A bit frustrating at time but really useful. I already used it in my new hack.

Did you know that Peach hates Mario? I sure did.
I created a level for this!
Hey, I might be late for this, but can you please make an option to edit the status bar? Because the "SMW Status Bar Editor" won't seem to work for me, probably because I have Windows 7. Anyways, it would be much appreciated!

I doubt it would have been accepted. Or at least, moderators would have put a warning at least.
Did you try asking for help?
Did you try Super Status Bar by Kaijyuu?
That will only help you if you feel like delving a bit into ASM. Doesn't have a fancy gui or anything.
Yeah, it works now. Thanks!

I used it, and now my rom loads up with this.
