YouTube's New Layout

The exact reaction when I saw it.

Holy crap, YouTube made the worst mistake ever by making this layout! To those who didn't notice, YouTube has made the worst layout ever! Seriously, how do I instantly know when I get a new comment or a message? And why do I have to keep pressing "Subscriptions" to show what my subs uploaded, liked, commented and subed? Its terrible, just freaking terrible. I can't get use to this. I prefer the old layout, at least it had some colour to it unlike this confusing layout. Also why is the subscriptions not in alphabetical order? There is so many things I can complain about with this thing. Call me a complaining b**ch if you want but its true.

Just bringing this up so other users know about this.

I hope this is good enough to be in Reality Corner, it seems to fit here anyways sense I need a good descussion about this.

What bothers me about this is the all-white color scheme.
Seriously, who thought this was a good idea? It makes my eyes bleed!

I do hate when YouTube changes it's layout, though I end up getting used to it after a while.

I don't understand why they keep changing and changing the layout of that shit. When I thought I've finally gotten used to the previous one, which wasn't any better than the oldest ones, they come and change it... again. So, why the fuck they did the previous one for instance?

I can't say anything beyond I'm going even more insane.

Right now I think this is one of those changes where people are overreacting and will eventually get used to. I don't think it's awful (yet. But that could change) But I am weirded out. The thing I hate most is the lack of "sort by relevance/date added/views/rating. I sent feedback about that (unless it went right into Google's spam filter).
I think they should work more on technical aspects more-so than aesthetic aspects. I can't think of the last time they did site maintenance. I remember they did that every few days or every week.
The only change I can think of where people were not overreacting is the March 7th channel redesign (also the "real name" prompts and forcing of Google accounts), and I did not officially realize that until they took away the "about this user" and schools/hobbies/etc. info. Like Google doesn't acknowledge there's a human making the channel. So I contributed to increasing the size of the red "light saber" below the views.
I still miss the 1-5 star rating, tho I do think 431 likes and 12,848 dislikes looks more intimidating than 1-star ratings from everyone.

I pretty much agree.

People are indeed overacting. I mean I'll be the first admit the layout doesn't look the most appealing but it isn't that horrible nor is it really necessary to make compliant videos over it. I think the bigger deal here is when they change the unnecessary stuff like mentioned, the lack of "sort by" options as I actually used that.

Other things I don't like that they've changed is having to add a comma after every tag. Though it's minor, it's a prime example of unnecessary changes. The other thing would be not being notified when you have a message or a comment unless you check your inbox. I'm not sure if they fixed that but I remember checking my inbox the other day and finding out I had a few comments.

Edited: Oh and I'm not sure if I'm the only one having a problem with there icon not showing up in the top right corner but yeah that probably should be fixed as well. (Unless it was intentional then it's just another unnecessary change)

I think it's so that it will be easier to combine multiple words into one tag, which I didn't really know how to do before. Upload Society and Power Video Tube do that too. This is also minor, but I don't like the tags being invisible on the viewing page.



I've gotten e-mail notifications, at least for people replying to my comments. I still see the "notify me when a comment is posted on my video or reply to a comment is posted" option under e-mail options, so it could just be a glitch.

The new layout is pretty square-y and too white for my tastes.

Also, I wonder if Youtube was thinking that people switched back to 1024x768 or something. 50% of my screen is literally empty (the right side) on the home and search page.

I honestly don't mind the new layout at all. I mean, it was a pretty sudden change and stuff, but like TomPhanto said, you get used to it eventually.
