I don't know what to think personally as I've had evidence presented to me by people from both sides of the spectrum that the drug is (n)either good or bad for you, and it's all very confusing to say the least.

Still, I could see myself supporting it in the future based on this chart.

I wouldn't mind it if weed was legalized. There is absolutely no problem that I can see. Almost all the people I work with smoke weed, and they get more done than me haha(I am new, but still they are good at what they do).

Many people have the idea "oh, if pot is legalized, EVERYONE IS GOING TO START SMOKING IT!!!!!11!1!", which is false. I tried marijuana, and I did not really like it, just wanted to try it. And look at me now, I am not smoking weed. The same thing with gay marriage, a lot of people are like "Oh no, if homosexuals are allowed to get married, than everyone is going to be gay! Including me, even though I am married and have 5 kids!!!!!11!1!", which is pretty unrealistic. I have heard some crazy [email protected]#! from some people, and their ideas which sound really ignorant once they start pouring from their mouths. I do not understand why people cannot (or will not) look at the benefits. There would obviously be some more income for the states, people would be happier, healthier people, and it isn't like marijuana has killed anyone.

Simply put, if you do not like it, that is okay. Just look at the multitude of benefits, look up some facts, and type in some questions on Google. At first Conal, I didn't believe that last part in the chart you got there, but I looked it up quickly, and that is right actually. And if you look at the abovetheinfluence site, they no longer have anything on marijuana.

Ok sorry Conal but I have to call bullshit on that chart. Weed isn't magic, it can't cure cancer, nothing can. Also, while Weed hasn't exactly been the direct cause of death notably, people have died because of dumb decisions made while on weed.

But either way, I would say yes, lets legalize Weed, it will give me something to do in the summer.

Weed is (not surprisingly enough) legal here in The Netherlands, as long as you own this "weed pass" or whatever. I haven't really looked into it. There are even coffeeshops around here dedicated to things like drugs.

This is why you don't let people who are on drugs argue the same point you are trying to make. There are claims that weed cures cancer, but as far as I can tell that's just people misinterpreting that weed can help some people to more easily deal with chemo. "It helps with cancer", and people who smoke weed don't look too far into these claims.

As much as I disparage people who smoke weed (because they are retarded), as I've said before, I think legalizing marijuana, and in fact all drugs, would be basically one of the best things that could happen on the planet at this time. Morally it's obvious, adults should be allowed to do whatever they want with their bodies as long as they aren't hurting anyone else, but the positive affects would be amazing as well. Most obviously, the government would stop having to spend so much money to imprison these people (over 1,000,000 people imprisoned a year) which means less debt to be extracted from future generations. Beyond that, it basically gets rid of drug cartels, saving huge amounts of lives (80% of drug related crime is distribution related, legalizing drugs removes, essentially, all of that) and stops funding to some really terrible people. The prices would drop substantially, reducing the meme of people stealing money for drugs. All in all, crime would see a significant drop. Outside of the United States, particularly in third world countries, it would free up much of the land currently used for production of drug products, particularly coca, for use in more useful endeavors, like food creation, creating a boost in those economies and saving many more lives.

Legalizing all kinds of drugs, as well as weed, would be a step forward to reduce criminality (or maybe not, explained further ahead), but I guess that it would come at costs of other factors, like the bad side effects that most of the powerful drugs cause (I mean, their capacity to cause death in several cases).

It's a very hard topic to talk about, because our subjective opinions are very variable, and if an experiment was made, all of our opinions could be most likely proven different. So I'd not like to take any side on that - just rather stay neutral.

It might be legal to be used on medicine, but totally forbidden otherwise. If it isn't necessary at all and it's dangerous for the society, why to allow it then (again not speaking of medicine)?

I'd say that if people dies from them because of their own stubborness, those death statistics would make people reflect more about their usage. They'll think more than twice before using lethal substances. We'd have no guilt on their decisions. If people want to go ahead and destroy themselves, who am I to stop them? I'd just stay in my corner.

Weed don't kill anyone. So it MUST be legalized.
I never saw any 'pothead' in rehab. The risk of addiction is also lower than the cigarette and soda, for example. Since these last two do far more harm than weed and alcohol and are released almost everywhere in the world.

The tendency is that all drugs will be legalized, while the number of consumers drop dramatically. All at once.

You need to know: Who smokes weed for fun can not think the same will help you with your health. Since, in fact, only makes you slower, although the consequences are not as serious as other types of drugs.

If everyone has awareness of his actions, weed will become beneficial to the whole society. But the prejudice is still rife, unfortunately.

Even if weed was a dangerous drug it's still wrong to criminalize it just because it's bad for you. In a truly free society people will be left behind.

As for the rest of the drugs that are actually harmful, I'm pro legalizing them as well, and instead putting all the money we currently shove into the drug war into fighting things like DUIs. As someone else mentioned, people have a right to harm themselves, provided they know what they're doing. However, they have no right to harm others.

In my perfect world you'd fill out a test determining whether you knew what you were getting into or not, and if you passed, you could take whatever drug you wanted.

So wait, you are suggesting that somebody get drunk, possibly get themselves into a bad situation, and maybe even get addicted to something that's proven to be a depressant and can cause cancer?

While I do think all drugs should be legalized, they should only be legalized to stop people using them, not so that they would use them if they wanted to. Seriously, how many people take illegal drugs just so they can have something they can't? I would personally suggest that you should take no non-medical drugs ever, as they can be only bad for you (seriously, caffine, which isn't looked on as a drug by most, can change your mind, forcing you to drink it just to be at normal mental capacity.)
