Honestly, if there wasn't any illegal drug that couldn't kill by itself, more could be taxed and other benefits. Less cartels and deaths resulting it. Although honestly I think it should be up to the person to decide whether or not they want the drug or not. Even if it could kill them. As long as they full well know how stupid it is.

Otherwise we should just axe all smoking. Drinking almost but hey, I need something to go along with programming and Fridays.

I've noticed the word 'drug' being thrown around. I do feel that marijuana should be legalized, but as far as currently illegal drugs go that's it. On the surface legalizing all drugs would be ideal, but a lot of drugs out there are dangerous things that can ruin people's lives, so it isn't really worth it. Marijuana can also ruin your life in theory, but so can cutting carrots. As long as your smart about it you'll be fine.

From what I've gathered from friends, smoking weed relieves your stress, and can open your eyes to how pointless a lot of the mundane tasks we do in our lives truly are. This is the biggest argument I hear when the topic is thrown around. A lot of people claim that if weed is legalized then teachers, police officers, chefs, basically everybody will be high 24/7 and wont be motivated enough to do their jobs. I find this to be the stupidest argument I've ever heard, primarily because alcohol is legal and I've never had a teacher show up to class drunk (hungover, yes, but that's beside the point.)

They also claim that it makes them happy. I'm already pretty happy without marijuana in my life, so I have no motivation to ever try it, but if people feel like they need it to be happy, then I don't see how that's a bad thing. It's kind of like a socially acceptable anti-depressant, which is all right I guess.

If this incoherent rambling didn't make sense, I think that weed should be legalized because from what I've heard, the only real downside to it is losing motivation to do stupid things. If you're that easily persuaded into avoiding work than you'd probably avoid it regardless, so it really is an unjust scapegoat for laziness. In my opinion.
umm... can i help you!?

You sure? You certain that's not that it "can open your eyes to how pointless a lot of the mundane tasks we do in our lives truly are"? Because that's a pretty stupid argument.
That wasn't an argument, though. That was an attempt at justifying why it shouldn't be legal.

i dont think anything really CAUSES cancer, just about every thing you come into contact with in every day life increases your risks. think about how many radio waves are going through your body right now, the microwave you use, the cellphone you talk on, the bs chemicals they but in food... still some people will get it and some wont. but things i think including alchohol can increase your risks of getting it eventually

Yeah thats true, but some things (especially cigarettes) will greatly increase risk of cancer. Alcohol isn't as much of a surefire bet as cigarettes, but theres still a good risk if its abused.

"sigh" #smw{>_>} NO I don't think it should.

What are you talking about, it's legal.

..Anyways, much like alcohol, prohibiting it will increase crime based around it. But since it's already illegal in the US and a lot of other countries, it isn't really comparable. (Though the Netherlands doesn't have a high crime rate)
Marijuana doesn't really do anything bad compared to the other legal drugs, I've never used it before, but I haven't seen anybody go more nuts from it than not getting daily cigarettes or drinking too much alcohol.
As far as I know, we have some kind of system which allows you to have an x amount of marijuana weekly, I heard it doesn't work too well, but at least they're trying something.
I don't really mind if it's legal or not, since I don't use marijuana. (nor do I smoke or drink)
I'd say legalize it and see what happens.

I say legalise it. When it's legal, atleast people have the safety that it's decent quality and dealers don't put junk in it and/or try to get the people on harddrugs. People are going to try cannabis, wether it's legal or not.

I also think the usage of cannabis in the medical area should be enlarged. I never got why some country's are against cannabis for medical usage. For some treatments it's a better alternative then other medicines because most of those medicines have bad side effects, while medical cannabis doesn't really have bad sides. It also works better then medicines in some cases. Then again, it differs from person to person.
A good example of people that could be treated with medical cannabis is people with seizures.

I think the bigger question is why weed isn't legal and why tobacco is legal. Tabacco is a killer and more addictive then weed. Weed isn't even really addictive at all.
If anything, tabacco should be outlawed. It should've never been legal in the first place.

Legalize weed, outlaw tobacco.

Here in Holland, yes. But not in America(yet).

Actually if I recall correctly, the rule is that you may only have 5 grams of marijuana with you at any given time. And I don't believe you are allowed to smoke/show it in public either.

I myself sometimes smoke weed (sometimes being once each 2-4 months). And even if I do, it's usually not even half a joint. I never have found it addictive at all.
In my opinion, even candy is more addictive then weed. Probably because of the e621(european code for monosodium glutamate, which is used to enchance the taste of food), which is in most sweets and crisps.

Because you can harm others because of your use. In 99% of cases, no one is harmed other than yourself when you dont wear your seat belt

1% is a pretty large number on the scale we're talking about. (and cases of what exactly, by the way?)

Yeah haha, I guess you're right. I was just trying to say that most of the time, the only person you are hurting because you don't wear a seatbelt is yourself. (Unless you somehow fly out of the window and smack into someone) As opposed to drugs and alcohol where you can harm others as well.

I wasnt saying that to support weed staying illegal though.

I would argue that that's entirely untrue. While it's true that (for instance) drunk driving plays a factor in 35% of driving fatalities, that means that it doesn't in 65% of driving fatalities. I vote that we make cars illegal.

Well its not like I said DRUGS HARM OTHERS 100% OF THE TIEM!!!!.

Also yes, lets bring the horse pulled wagon back into style.

Not really sure if somebody mentioned this yet or not, but I've heard that half of the country's population thinks that weed should be legal. The only reason it's not is because the government doesn't want it to be. All that it does is make the crime rate go up.
Nixon's the one.

And open it up for your horse to kick me in the face while you're on your merry way down the street? No way. The only choice is to make all forms of transportation illegal.

But I dont wanna cut off my feet #w{:<}

I honestly support the legalization of marijuana. It's less harmful than alcohol (There is small harm to smoking marijuana, there's small harm to smoking anything.) and it's a happy, peaceful drug. And, if you don't support or like Marijuana, then don't smoke it. \_(o.o)_/

That's just my basic opinion, I'll elaborate if I need to.
