The recent Staff Applications may be an opportune moment to display interest in joining the staff team as a Kaizo moderator.

When you say "Kaizo moderator" does this imply anything about Kaizo hacks being accepted into the database?

How am I so creative? I think taking walks might have something to do with it.
Every single level I will ever make in SMM2 will be easier than Ultra Necrozma.
It does appear that there are implications.

I can only say that these staff applications are serious, and that I recommend that those who are interested in being a Kaizo moderator should voice their interests with an application.

I am kinda thinking about applying, but I'm not absolutely sure. How do you think moderation would compare to judging contest entries? I like giving useful feedback combined with screenshots. Just not actually 'judging.' Maybe practicing on existing hacks to get a feel for moderation couldn't hurt.
Also, will there be an option to just moderate Kaizo hacks? Cuz I don't want to moderate regular hacks as well. I'm not as good at deciding if they are 'good' or 'bad.'

My apologies if I keep talking within a theoretical stand-point, it is all I am able to do at this point in time, contrary to the notion that our lobbying for a section/inclusion may have been accepted.

The exact method of moderating Kaizo hacks may require some additional discussion to set up proper guidelines. They are certainly sufficiently different from the regular hacks such that the rules regarding how they are moderated would be different, and require different people to moderate (thus those who moderate one kind of hacks shouldn't have to moderate the other kind of hacks). Yet on the contrary, their inclusion may be done in such a manner that brings them closer to regular hacks than one might expect.

I wouldn't imagine moderation would be too different than how hacks are currently moderated. Check out the removal log forum, the only difference being that Kaizo hacks would have to be judged on different criteria. Judging tends to look at the level as a whole, while removal logs generally consider whether or not they follow all the rules. There have been complaints in the Hacks section that mediocre hacks are being accepted simply because they don't break any rules, though I hear they have been meaning to change that, we'd want to avoid a similar circumstance with Kaizo hacks (in order to continue to promote our desired standard of quality, showing that Kaizo isn't garbage), but we also want to avoid being too strict and having the userbase be upset about it.

If anyone, I would believe Souljester and Sadistic Designer is the perfect mods for Kaizo hacking (that is, if they deside on showing up here).

Are you an ASM coder and want to trade "resources"? Private Message me for details.
(I also offer SMW Custom Songs in exchange for ASM! I don't do ports though unless it's to remix.)

Are you a sample porter and wanna help with 100 Rooms of Enemies: The Nightmare Edition? Private Message me or Mellonpizza for details. Expect trading "resources" in exchange. 4 more left.

Imho.. not to promote myself, but personally I think (if they would want to), me, Sokoban, and Archie would probably be best to become one of dem kaizo mods. We're pretty consistantly on, and though I'm not very actively hacking right now, I still pay attention to stuff that happens.

You two can if you want. I'm not nearly ready to commit myself to anything of such a nature. Sure, I'm good at giving feedback, but I don't think I deserve the title of staff member if running a simple contest with not many entries is like struggling to lift a 5 lb dumbbell. In fact, I'd much rather work on my own hacks and be done with them and (for the most part) free myself from my LM addiction.
I think in general I'm on this site too much and being staff would make things worse.

Well think about it. If there are two others, and kaizo isn't very popular, there won't be much for all of us to do in the end.
Whoohoo! This smells like a major step, one of the things we've (at least I have) been hoping for for several years now! Even if it's within a theoretical stand-point ;)
As for me myself: I'm still in doubt whether or not I could be a mod. I don't have a lot of free time on my hands, but on the other hand I still play (and generally finish) every kaizo hack that gets submitted. Writing a list of good points and bad points and deciding if it is SMW worthy is a small task after that. Still in doubt...

Of course you should fight fire with fire, you should fight everything with fire.

Oooh look at my userbar!

Sadistic Designer - testing Pit without tools.
I don't even know what a mod would do. Like, this board doesn't need moderating because posts are so few, and I don't understand this whole "accepting" hacks. Are we trying to get kaizo-pit standard hacks to be included in the "hacks" section on the menu, and hence must be moderated first?

That said, I'd be up for like playing/viewing kaizo hacks and giving a short review of them, sounds like right up my street. Unless I've missed anything, isn't that what a kaizo mod would do, in order to state whether hacks should be accepted or not?
Kieran is separating forum moderation and section moderation, you won't have to worry about the forums (unless you want to apply for that).

Moderating Kaizo hacks, again, would work in exactly the same manner as current hacks, albeit with different rules to judge them on. You would play through a Kaizo hack, and if it is decent and meets the moderation criteria, you would click 'accept' and then it gets moved into the hack database. If it does not, you would click 'decline' and write up a moderation removal log in the relevant forum.
