Mario's Final World is a hack I started around September 2012, but I was too busy with other things so it was frozen. But I have decided to revive it and complete it. The plot is simple (note that only some of it is revealed in the game itself):

One day Bowser kidnapped Luigi and Mario had to go and save him. But instead of walking, he decided to go by airship. While traveling an earthquake happened and a hole appeared in the ship. Mario jumped down the hole to explore, but...


The first level of the hack is ready and the second is in progress. Now, just to get you interested, here are some fresh screenshots:


The title screen. It actually uses Layer 2 as a level to make the "background".


The current overworld. Still a work in progress. Feel free to point out any prespective errors you see, I am not a pro with overworlds. Oh, and the level names are styled like in NSMBU (World Name - Level Number *new line* Level Name)


Collecting some coins at the beginning of the level.


Collecting some more coins and making Wigglers angry.


Jumping around being surrounded by Para-Goombas.


A P-Switch. Interesting.


A bonus area from which you can get a Fire Flower!


A Muncher and a Clappin' Chuck.

And finally, I've got two screenshots of the second level - "Wet-Dry Cave".


In case you haven't gotten the gimmick -
The On/Off Switch controls the water. If the switch is OFF, the level will be a normal level. If the switch is ON, the level will be a water level.


That's about it! I'm looking for some feedback.

It's looking great so far! I love your grassland tilesets! I'm not too fond of the cave's background, but that's just me though! Keep it up! #w{=3}

Thank you! Also, the grassland tilesets are not mine, look up "NSMBU" using the Graphics section's filters and you should find them. But I did brighten up the colours a bit. Also, which cave's background? The generic one, or the "flooded" one? I will fix either of them immediately.
Well, it's only my opinion, but I suggest that you make it look a little more natural. You could add some jagged rocks in the background, some rubble and if possible, make the background a bit lesss “flat“ I also think you could make the ground a bit less straight, but as I said, my opinion. Others probably disagree. Whatever works best for you.

The hack looks great though and I can't wait to see more, keep it up! :)
Eevee: Well, I tried to make the ground as less straight as possible and the cave beackground just goes with the foreground. I don't think it will look THAT good if I use another background. Just my opinion though, if others think otherwise I will happily change it.

Everybody else: Userbars are out! Find them in the main thread, which is going to get updated pretty soon (as soon as I get home that is). Just looking for a bit more feedback before I post new screenshots.

Currently I'm in a rush, so please wait warmly until I make some more!
I'm loving the grassland Gfx too, also the level design seems good.

Thank you sir! Currently working on a secret sprite project that might make its way into this hack, not sure. Only sure thing is that when I finish it I will start working on Level 2.

Anyways, I could not get any levels completed due to sickness, but I did make an overworld. I did show it in the Screenshots & Videos thread, so you might recognize it from there. If not, feel free to leave feedback in this thread!



There are some things that bug me, like the form of the ocean part of the straight tiles on the left and the little dots on the ocean tiles that come with Alternate Mario World, but other than that, I like it. Also there could be a little bit more clouds, but meh.
I saw you uploaded a new video about the hack, are you going update here?

This project doesn't look bad at all! In fact, the only real complaint I have about anything you've showed so far is that cave BG- it's very repetitive and a bit boring. I'd recommend changing that.

The grassland is pretty awesome-looking, though. In fact, I have to say that I love that BG you're using there! As a matter of fact, what is it? I have a top-secret super special project in the works and I think it'd be perfect for it. Mind telling?

Well I'm still somewhat part of this, I do ExGFX so I can handle the the cave BG/FG situation if telinc doesn't mind.

This hack looks very good! The OW is great, but I don't like the cave bg, it was very boring and repetitive in the tales of elementia, and it will be the same here. But everything else looks good, so Good luck in your project telinc1! #smw{:TUP:}
