Just felt like showing off some SPCs since I haven't done it in a long time.

Super Mario RPG - The Road is Full of Dangers

Super Mario RPG - Still, the Road is Full of Dangers

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 - Wing Fortress Zone

The two Super Mario RPG tracks are currently in the music section, but are waiting to be moderated.

"You painted my paint job! PREPARE FOR SURGERY!"
- Knockout ~ Transformers Prime "TMI"
Such a great movie.

Tag <sarcasm> was not closed.

@MoosieHD: What did I just click on? Doesn't sound like an .SPC or look like feedback.

Anyway, I did another song last night. This time, I tackled a series that I haven't touched in a long time and also used pan sweep for the first time.

Mega Man 3 - Spark Man's Theme (16-bit)

"You painted my paint job! PREPARE FOR SURGERY!"

I really like how this sounds with SMW's instruments; definitely better than I expected. You're missing a slide at 0:44 in the flute channel (which is also an octave lower) and the triplets of the fast marimba notes are broken, however. Also I'd raise the bass' volume a lot more, since it was louder in the original.

Everything else is awesome. Good job!

There's a missing chord for the orchestra hit, broken triplets and some panning issues, but I really like everything else. Like in your other SMRPG port, it works surprisingly well with SMW's instruments and you did a great job at adapting the song to them.

Can't give detailed feedback to this port since I don't like (nor know) the games that much, but it sounds nice. I'm not a fan of the ADSRs though.

Not bad! Though the panning is kinda... harsh? I suggest you using lower values like y11-12/y8-9 so it's more appealing to the ear. Adding to that, I think you should vary your ADSRs; all your ports seem to use the same, and it kinda gets old. There's this handy thread if you don't want to make your own, so don't worry. Also, you can try using different instruments since it's a 16bit arrange (maybe @6 instead of @0?).

It's a nice port overall though!

MoosieHD, if you're showing off your stuff, please give feedback to the person that posted before you; they want/need it as much as you do. Also, use another file hosting service, since puu.sh treats the spc file as a txt for some reason. And last but not least, can you please post actual ports here? There is literally nothing to comment on an spc with only a voice sample. Thanks.

Nice port but 2 issues I see with it there is no trumpet or voilen instrument in it like the original.
I think you should replace channel 4 instrument and tune it up abit so it will sound identical till the original.

This I am working on as a star man theme.
Still adjusting 3 instruments and the drum channel so it will sound more crisp.

Haven't heard the original, but this sounds pretty annoying.

Sorry bout that. I'll leave more feedback from now on.

You actually think so, guess I may have to go back to the drawing board again for the unteenth time. :)

http://www.vgmusic.com/music/console/sony/ps2/Boss_On_Parade%5BIntruder%5D.mid

In the mean time you can download this and open it up with a midi editor if you want.
Once your done with that, you can go by youtube if you want to and search for gradius 4 ost sound tracks.

Listen to the both carefully and the person who made the midi.
Thats why my port sounds the way it does.
Hell I'm still trying to adjust the first 2 channels some more.
Given all that I like that it came out decently on the first port attempt.

Thanks for your input moosie. :)

@Mini-Tech: A lot of the notes seem to be mashed together in Channel 1 and 2 where it shouldn't. I would suggest taking advantage with the other channels to separate the "main" notes by modifying it in a Midi editor such as FL Studio.

Zelda II: The Adventure of Link - Palace Theme

After watching Scooter102089 through a Skype Screen Share, I decided to try my hands on porting something... so I did this. I put my own little twist into the original by modifying my Midi file (adding two channels, and modifying Channel 0 & 1 with a bit of panning shenanigans). This is technically my second port, but I don't count my first port from, what, 4 years ago where I just used TinyMM and that's it? Any who, what do you all think?

That port sounds pretty good, Daizo. The only thing I can think of that's really wrong with it is that the long, low @4s that start at around 0:51 clash with some notes. That instrument may just be too strong, so try switching to @6 or MAYBE @1.

It's definitely better than my first port, haha

Other than what Gamma V said, I have no real complaints. Good work!

@Daizo
Sounds pretty good, if this is your first port, it's really good.

Earthbound - Kraken of the Sea
This thing is an utter bitch. I can't figure out how to get the first choir part to sound proper.

Oh, well. Enveloping samples FTW.

OP, could you remove the link to my SPC Showoff thing? It's embarrassing. Thank you.

EDIT: Downright trashing the thread would be appreciated, too.

EDIT2: Thanks a lot, with this I'm finally done clearing all the aftermath of my "trying to port" phase. Perfect!

very funky fresh

so i've been trying to do sampled shit these days, and my main focus is doing ff7 songs in ff6 instruments

You Can Hear the Cry of the Planet (i've previously done this unsampled before but what the hell)
Anxious Heart
Ahead on Our Way

i don't think they're super fantastic like other sampled works but i'm proud of them honestly, and i'm probably gonna do more at some point who knows

Thats not entirely true, if that were the case midi2mml and tinymm would have mashed all the channels into 1 channel just as it opens reads the and output the midi data file..
I use anvil studio for minor midi fixing and sonar to fix up or readjust/refix few instrument channels to something better.
Check the file yourself if you like and port it to see what you get should give out 6 channels like it did me.
Keep in the mind the first 2 or 3 channels are the same.
Changing it to something different would make it sound way bizzare.
Thats why I never bothered to tamper with the midi after hearing the ost online and play the game awhile back.
Also for your port you could do the @0 for @4 or @1, 13 would go well with it.

Nice port though sounds very promising.

Hey guys, I picked up an old project that I haven't worked on in a few months, and it's about ready to submit now. I'd just like a little feedback first:

Good port, I have a question was adjusting @17 hard for you ?
The octave I'm guessing is kinda low, if you can bump it by 1 and see if it plays without messing up.
You might need to get @17 tuned up.
Also for @0 or @6 try @13 so it will mellow in more better.
Also the original song the tempo is faster, increase it by 8 or 10.

Given all that its a good port you got going on. :)
