I've been getting a lot of slack lately for using .bps and using FLIPS instead of the norm LIPS/IPSharp and .ips files. I'm making this thread to explain how this works. Please don't mind my "pretentious" voice - I am just tired, and sick of getting so much "EWWWWWWW BPS YOU SUXXXXX" complaints. If I'm making you out like an idiot, it's because you're making me out as an idiot for progressing to .bps and FLIPS.
STEP ONE:
Delete Lunar IPS or IPSharp. You will not need those anymore. Here is how you delete:
1. You RIGHT CLICK on the program, and navigate to the word "Delete"
2. Press Delete. You will have to empty your Trash Can afterwards if you want to permanently delete it (or do some keyboard hotkeys)

STEP TWO:
Download Floating IPS. To do this, you must go to the Tools section (assuming you can move your cursor). There, search for "Floating IPS" by Alcaro. Here's a direct link to it.

You can also download it from Alcaro's "A new IPS Patcher too" thread in the Resources and Tools forum. But, that is too complicated. You will have to go "Forums", scroll down, go to "Resources and Tools" possibly scroll, click the the thread, and navigate the pages, then download - it's a lot of clicking. And I'm making this as simple as possible. Only advance users can do this. If you're okay with a lot clicking, then go ahead. That thread is more up to date than the one in the Tools Section.
STEP THREE:
Now this is where it starts to get complicated. After downloading, you need to unzip or unpack the file. To do this, just double click (using your left click) the "zip file". You can also use a zip program, but this is also for advance users. When you unzip it, you'll see six files. The one with the red moon is Floating IPS, or FLIPS.

AGAIN, THE ONE WITH THE RED MOON IS THE TOOL! THE TOOL!
STEP FOUR:
Double click the tool (THE ONE WITH THE RED MOON!). You will see this:

I will only talk about "Apply Patch". The other six buttons, "Create Patch", "Apply Patch and Run", "Select Emulator", "Assign File Types", the big, red "X"; and the "_" are too complicated to understand. For this tutorial, I do not need to talk about these. It involves a lot clicking and thinking and linking and other complicated stuff. We don't want to make your life miserable, don't we?
If you don't see the "Assign File Types" button, DON'T PANIC! It's fine. I will not explain why you wouldn't have the button - it's really advance and I must talk in technological jargon, klingon, morse code, and BASIC all at the same time to explain it.
STEP FIVE:
Click Apply Patch:

Then, this will appear:

DON'T PANIC!
I know this really complicated! Take some time off and get a glass of water. This part is really complicated. If you're hyperventilating, I suggest you take a day off, then come back to this the next day.
First off, this "box" doesn't need to look like yours! Don't worry if it's different from how yours looks! Mine only looks like this because I used FLIPS on this folder beforehand!
Anyways, navigate your folders to the .bps or .ips file. YES! THIS TOOL APPLIES IPS FILES TOO! Cool huh? That's why you didn't need LIPS or IPSharp! Because FLIPS does it all!
Click here if you do not know how to navigate folders.
STEP SIX:
Okay, once you found your file, double click it (using your left click! Not your right click!) You will see this:

DON'T PANIC!
It's just like the last "box". Only this time, you need to find a CLEAN rom! Navigate your folders to find a clean Super Mario World ROM. I am not providing help to find a rom. Do it yourself.
Once you've found it, double click it.

Okay, we're almost there!
STEP SEVEN:
Now, this will pop-up:

DON'T PANIC!
This is like the two other "boxes", only a little different. FLIPS does something LIPS (and I think IPSharp) doesn't do: save a NEW, DIFFERENT rom. It doesn't patch the "clean" rom, it actually just uses it to create a new rom! So you don't have to copy and paste a bazillion Super Mario World roms - you can just go to one rom every time and use that!
If this is too complicated, which I think it is, then don't worry. Just name your file using the text box:

(Hint, use your keyboard to type!)
Then click save:

STEP EIGHT:
This will appear:

YAY! YOU'RE DONE! To finish click "OK"

YAY! Give yourself a pat on the back! This was really hard, so it's just right to treat yourself! Congratulations! You have learned how to use FLIPS and apply .bps files!
If you want to exit out an application, ask someone else. It's really complicated - I myself find it hard to explain.
FOR ADVANCED USERS:
Anyways, check Alcaro's thread why FLIPS is better than any of the other existing patches. It's an invesment that will hurt no one. LIPS is also 152 KB, while FLIPS is just 45 KB, by the way.
Good day.
