What E.S.R.B. ratings would you give to Super Mario World hacks?

http://www.esrb.org/index-js.jspNOTE: THIS IS FOR THE UNITED STATES!

Do you know about the E.S.R.B. ratings on video game boxes? In case you don't, the E.S.R.B. is the United States's video game rating system. They tell you what age group is appropriate for the game.

EC3+ (Early Childhood): These games are mostly edutainment games that are to help people like toddlers learn stuff.

E6+ (Everyone 6+): These games may have very little violence or games that are higher level than EC3+, such as game show games. Most games have this rating. This is Super Mario Worls's rating.

E10+ (Everyone 10+): These games can be more violent than E6+ games. There can be minimal cussing and minimal sexual themes and very unrealistic-looking blood.

T13+ (Teen 13+): These games can have some violence, cussing, sexual themes, alcohol reference, tobacco refrence, and more realistic-looking blood than E10+.

M17+ (Mature 17+): These games can have very intense violence, a lot of cussing, a lot of sexual themes that would be inapropriate for children. They could have a lot of alcohol and tobacco involved and very realistic-looking blood. The Call of Duty games have this rating.

AO18+ (Adults Only 18+): These games have pretty much the same points as M17+, but even more intense and extreme. Only 23 games have this rating. None of them are on a Nintendo system.

(Feel free to correct me if any of the points are wrong.)

So, since ROM hacks are not rated at all, pretend that you were a person working at E.S.R.B. and you were given the task of rating Super Mario World hacks according to the system above. What hacks would you rate, what rating would you give those hacks and why?

As for me, I would pretty much rate all of the hacks that I've played E6+. They all pretty much seem to be like the very same Super Mario World game that's rated E6+.

Most hacks I've played and created are at an E6+ level. Violence and sexual themes usually seem out of place in SMW hacks. I remember ghettoyouth's hacks had instances of blood and gore in them, so that might warrant an M17+. I'd probably give Jigsaw's Test an M17+ rating due to its violent nature, although it might be more on the T13+ side, I don't recall there being any actual blood.

I'd probably rate Hack 2 E10+. You'll have to wait and see why.

Don't forget the porn.

I should have something witty to put here (even if it's just to update dated info), shouldn't I?

Most hacks would be an E while a few handfuls would get E-10, mostly due to language. I don't see many of the more "mature" hacks getting even a T or M, though.

Speaking of Ghettoyouth, both Panic in the Mushroom Kingdoms would be a straight AO.

I will definitely be modifying this list a lot. It's going to start out pretty small, but just wait.
I agree with most people that most of them are going to be rated E. However, there are some that are going to be higher.

An SMWCentral Production (SMWCentral) - E
Bowser's Ultimate Labyrinth (Sniggerb0bble) - T
Brutal Mario (Carol) - E
Chaos CompleXX (FPI) - E
The Devious Four Chronicles (S.C.O.R.P.I.O.N. and metalgearhunter) - T
The Haunt (Kc1336) - M
The Legend of Randorland 3: Randor's Eternal Empire (Chikane) - M
Legend of the Rift (Foursword4) - E10+
MARIO (M A R I O) - T
Return to Dinosaur Land (RAGB) - E
The Second Reality Project (FPI) - E
The Second Reality Project 2: Zycloboo's Challenge (FPI) - E
The Second Reality Project Reloaded (FPI) - E
SMW Minus: Utter Garbage (Golden Yoshi) - E10+
SMW 2+3: The Essence Star (Golden Yoshi) - E10+
Super Challenge World (Nigel K) - E
The Unworld (dottedgirl) - E

Most of them would be E rated since they come straight from an E rated game, though there are a few that deserve 17+ ratings like Randorland 3 (just because of the strong language) and The Haunt (I've played it just recently, and it was still very well done). Even some other creepy hacks (GOOD creepy hacks) may not be suitable for children, such as Jigsaw's Test.

Yeah, my list is going to be mostly E ratings. However, when I rate hacks like the first two you mentioned, then I'm going to have to have to give them a higher one. The Haunt was an instant AO because of the blood, and RL3 was M rated for the reason you mentioned above.

Sometimes I will give E10+ ratings. Legend of the Rift received this because of the level called Phantom Castle.

Probably should have said AO for The Haunt not just because of the blood, but I also forgot about the separate Yoshi heads and dead moles. It was art, but in a brutal way.

We have that rating system in Canada too. It might be a little altered, but otherwise it's the same principal.

Most hacks I've played would be rated E. Most hacks I've made would probably be rated T

AO wouldn't be appropriate for any SMW hack. It is mainly reserved for porn games, the list of games is here. The Haunt, while I've only looked at pictures, might even be able to escape with a T.

Virtually all hacks with little story are E, hacks with a large story might hit E10+ or T. Creepyhacks are either T or M.

Point taken. I lowered the rating for The Haunt to an M. I've played that hack all the way through, and there's just no way it can be any lower than that.

What about MARIO?, That so "Creepypasta" hack that had poor edits and cryptic messages?

I gave that one a T rating (for the graphic description of Victim #1), but to be honest I haven't really played it. I've seen SomeOrdinaryGamers' videos for it though, which is what I based my rating on.

The only reason it's not an M rating was because the part with the picture appearing didn't happen to the person behind SomeOrdinaryGamers. That was just part of the creepypasta.

Yeah, the majority of SMW hacks (probably over 70%) would have an E6+ rating, though quite a few would get E10+ (like cypher's hacks and the VIP games.) I really haven't played any that I think would carry anything higher than E10+ except PITMK (which I would rate M).

Cascade i know you've been here long enough to know that you are completely aware of what you just did, and if you aren't, then i'm honestly surprised.

I don't know why DPBOX labeled specific ages on each rating since the ESRB doesn't have exact ages listed for ratings aside from E10+. My ranges of rating smw hacks would probably be along the lines of

eC: 0%
E: 50% Mainly consisting of descriptors such as Comic Mischief and Crude Humor.
E10: 30% when you take into account Suggestive Themes and Cartoon Violence.
T: 18% throwing in the tryhard edge hacks, adding in Strong Language and Blood.
M: 2% Nudity...we know which one's this goes into. cascade even mentioned it but i'm positive there's others.

I know its an old thread but it seems like an interesting topic to revive.

not condemning you for it at all, i'm just saying that i know you know what you are doing. Hopefully canceling out another person who would of brought that up more directly regardless of the content
That 3 year bump tho.

Most hacks on the site would probably have an E rating because they're pretty child friendly. I honestly don't think any hack other than that M A R I O creepypasta and a few other hacks would have higher than a T rating and even T is pretty high of a rating for an SMW hack.

Call of Cthulhu would have a T13+-M17+ rating because of the obvious screen you see when Mario can't grasp Cthulhu's form. Nightmare fuel. But on the other hand everything else is pretty much not that terrifying.

Brutal Mario final boss, although I think it's kind of nitpicking at Wendy's GFX:

But there IS a face/mask/whatever that cries blood and gives Mario a feather...? So I think that's pretty...uhh...mature.

Quest on Fullmoon Island has a villain named Pitch Black that says "I don't want to hurt anyone, they just all...disappear" or something along those lines, implying he kills people he cares about...? I'm sure the creator could confirm that. On top of an entity flat-out luring "friends" to "play with them"
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
there's a level called "Eternal Decay" where it LITERALLY RAINS BLOOD. And in the level after that, "Eternal Rest," you're able to SWIM IN BLOOD. If that doesn't earn an M17+ rating I don't know what does.

I'll let you decide on Mario Must Die 2's story.
