I think most people here aren't the biggest fans of EA, but this is just dumb. I think companies that caused the worst oil spill in history and a company that ruins peoples lives is a lot fucking worse than a game with shitty DRM and Day 1 DLC.
I'm pretty neutral on this whole thing - I certainly agree with you, companies that actual ruins peoples lives or cause huge damage to the environment are ^ 100 times worse.
Then again, EA isn't that great of a company, and fro reading all of that stuff, I can see why. Still though, I'm not the type who will go "HERR THIS COMPANY ARE RUINING THE GAMES INDUSTRY ARE" - the industry is too big to be ruined or destroyed by one company. If you dislike a company and its products, the best thing is to ignore them and to joke about them in private - joking about them in public just makes them more known and can sell their products - I mean, that's what happened with Rebecca Black. If people had shut up about her, she wouldn't have gotten that recording contract nor a viral video.
The logic of "ignore it and it will go away" really only applies with a single person and one that isn't really that popular. EA is a giant corporation with hundreds of people working in it that releases a massive amounts of games, so ignoring it will just let them get worse and worse.
I do agree with the OP that labeling it the worst company of the year is kind of dumb and is probably due to a more than biased voting from a number of /v/tards. That said, however, it truly is a terrible company and I'd probably say the worst video game publisher out there. It just does everything wrong that video games will spiral into if things like this aren't stopped: always-on DRM, very poor DRM, terrible help service, repeated sequels of games with little improvement (particularly in the sports genre), a barrage of very mediocre 'casual' games, and a variety of companies like maxis that are getting a bad reputation or even shut down due to EA's poor management. It's a mess of a corporation and one that should certainly bite the dust, but I do admit it's probably not the worst company in general out there.
Geez, someone had a bad day. This is so incredibly biased, it almost pains me to read it. Let me say a few things.
On topic 1, Dragon Age 2 and Dead Space 3 haven't exactly been seen as Sonic 06. Rather, they've received praise and criticism where it's due and ultimately were received with good scores. Mass Effect 3 has been very, very, VERY controversial, and frankly I can't say anything except get over it. Focusing so much on one part of the game is blinding to the rest of a very good game that happened to have a bad ending. I can't really say anything on SimCity 5, though the lack of open servers is a huge problem.
Topic 2 is ridiculous. $60 is the normal price for a console video game, and expecting a company to put a perfectly fine game out for less is pointless. Wait til it goes used/on sale, if it's really that mediocre it'll go that direction fast. On the topic of free-to-play games, the whole point of that is for micro-transactions, and if you can't resist buying pointless things, go check a doctor for OCD.
Topic 3 is perfectly fine in my eyes. This is the real thing that EA needs to focus on, its very crappy customer support.
The rest is overly dramatic, and looks like it came straight out of /v/ itself. A Penny Arcade quote strikes me, "We hate them because they claim our hate doesn’t matter as long as we give them our money.” They're perfectly right. If people just keep giving money to EA, then there's no reason for them to help people out. Instead of voting for useless polls, actually boycott their games. Don't be a whiny /v/tard if you are going to willingly buy their games.

EA probably had jack-shit to do with the ending, too. The rule seems to be anything good = Bioware, anything bad = EA.
It mostly reverberates what you guys are saying. Personally, EA is definitely not a good company, but they're not the worst company in the US.
EDIT: Link replaced with the actual response from EA.
