SM64 General Forum Rules and Discord Information

Link Thread Closed
General Forum Info
All rules from the General Behavior and Forum Rules are fully enforced here and users will be given warnings if they break any of these rules and banned if they repeat any offenses.

Let it be clear that there is no difference between the behavior you are expected to have here and the behavior you are expected to have elsewhere on the site. That applies to both the forum and the SM64 sections.

Hack/Tool Threads
Works in Progress threads is something we really encourage here on this forum, so rules will be a bit looser to give each WIP thread a chance to get noticed. That said there are a few rules we are now enforcing that both the creators and users contributing to the threads should now follow:

For the Hack/Tool creators:
  • Make sure to include screenshots if you make a thread for your hack/tool
  • Make sure that you post some progress of your work before making a thread about it, we want to help you out as much as possible with your hack/tool, but we need to know if it will evolve more than just an idea
  • Make sure the hack your are designing is either 100% yours or you have permission from the original creator if you are building on top of someone else's work.
  • You have full right to bump your own thread if you are making an update or announcement towards your own hack/tool

For the users contributing to the threads:
  • Give thoughtful feedback with constructive criticism
  • Make sure to read the readme of the hack/tool before asking questions about it
  • Make sure your post is legible to the hack creators who are reading it

Question Threads
If you want to ask a question, usually it's best to check the Common SM64 Hacking Q&A's Thread first to see if any of your questions have been answered previously. If you do not see your question in there, feel free to post and ask your question on the forum.

Criteria for getting your thread instantly closed include:
  • Questions regarding using a program or problems relating to a program,
  • Simple question that likely will end up getting an simple answer (for example, all the questions in this thread),
  • Threads with multiple miscellaneous questions that doesn't cover a general theme,

Discord Server
The SMWCentral Discord has a channel for SM64 hacking, named #SM64-Hacking, you must be verified first in order to access the channel and the rest of the server.
