I think it would be really cool to play a remake of SMB 3, with the SMW engine, and i was wondering if anybody has done that.

From what I remeber, there are very few (none?) Hacks based on other original games. You can still make one, though.

You can but I hope you don't plan to submit it to the hacks section. Super Demo World has a remake of SMB3 1-1.

I have tried that once, but I think I lost it. I don't remember it that much, though.

A beautiful wish. But there will be no future. Not for you.

I believe ghettoyouth made a SMB3 Redrawn hack.

I'm guessing it's just a demo. Not sure.

I'm busy IRL. I'll come back someday, but until then, I'm taking a break.

I have only replicated SMB3 levels, not the whole game. But it can be worth a try, though. We have enough resources for that.

Also I think a certain someone has tried remaking SMB3 on SMW.
I wouldn't really go through with it. We don't really have all of the sprites used in SMB3, there are more OW's in SMB3 than available in SMW, plus if someone wanted to play that game, why not play the actual game instead of an attempted remake. Seems like a waste of time to me, but if you are talking about a hack BASED off of the ideas SMB3 was, then that's another story.

Did it, It's not really cool. Since SMB3 stuff don't really fit in SMW like the music. A few sprites would be OK and some GFX.
I find exact ports with nothing extra or standoutish in them to be filler and a waste of time. Besides, Pac tried, and failed to remake SMB3 into SMW. However, making a hack or fangame basing off the idea of SMB3, or a reimaging of the original game is more productive than just a simple remake.

On Pixel Art Requests: I generally do not accept work unless I either have the time, if I see your project worth my time to contribute towards, and that is usually me doing the approaching to you on that.
-I also do not accept speculative work as I do have various art I made on-hand with me.
-I am more receptive to equivalent exchange of resources in which case, you can DM me wherever I have an active presence on for the details.
-Other times I'm availible for your project is C3 request threads I may run.

The platforming physics of the SMW engine is much more suiting to me, and SMB3 is such a great game, I just really wanted to try it.

I did, once upon a time. It got nowhere though. Man, I'm feeling all nostalgic now.
Isn't there a diagonal level in SMB3? What would one do about that in SMW? Simplifying it would be easier, just having it be vertical, but you might have to do like what Alcaro did if you want an accurate replica.

Here.
World 5-9
Looks like more of a diagonal autoscroll than anything to me.

Anyway, IMO, the only Mario games that a SMW hack remake would be justified are the Super Mario Land games, for obvious reasons.

Well, yeah... diagonal autoscroll levels are still diagonal levels, which present a problem for SMW's level engine

since most of the solid "land" is just wood platform sprites (and the level itself is autoscroll), you can replicate it using the default level layout and some fancy autoscrolling/sprite movement to simulate diagonalness.
What about how the platform will move up and right while you're off bouncing on paratroopas?

Just make custom versions of all sprites that go down continuously, have layer 1 and Mario (to "fix" the "physics") do the same and have horizontal auto scroll.
That should work just fine, no?
