SM64 Importer 1.8.1S Release (Major Update, Scrolling Textures)

The next release of the SM64 Level Importer, with many significant updates. Scrolling textures, improved music importation, and simplified setup for new users are among the most noteworthy.

*GUI background fixed for widescreen displays
*Error handling for write-protected MTL file
*Handling of various minor errors
*Explanations of scrolling textures when labels are clicked
*Mist and toxic haze is displayed correctly
*Multiple water boxes display correctly
*Added option to create invisible water boxes
*Added texture scale option for water boxes

I've just tried this out and it does a great job of streamlining the entire initial process of preparing a ROM, something alot of new SM64 Hackers usually have the most trouble with.

Oh yeah, the wallpaper you gave the importer doesn't take into account different aspect ratios. It's not really a problem but I thought I should bring it up anyway.

Open a new 8mb rom, the importer do magically all for you :D

Are you using an bad ROM? Try looking for a Super Mario 64 ROM with "[!]" in the file name, usually the explanation mark indicates that it's an good dump.

Did you drag the ROM into rom_expand_64 after extending it? You'll get the invalid rom error if you dragged it into frauber's rom_expand. You have to use the new one Skelux made. It's at SM64 Level Importer 1.8S > Data > Patching Tools.
Thanks but it seems to be a Importer fail on my PC. I even tried a Rom that works for UED. Hmm too bad. Have to figure that features out myself. *Grabs Hexeditor*

I allready wrote that i tried everything. So don´t you think i would even try to search in the folder for other tools rom expand etc?
You all wrote things like that and i just wanted to say that i allready did that. But thanks anyway :D. Hm even redownloading doesnt work :(

Have you tried a fresh SM64 ROM like what me and Flame8765 are saying? It honestly just sounds like a bad ROM problem the way you are explaining it. If it isn't, then sorry I can't help you because it's not a problem I have seen anyone encounter yet.
I'll get that background fixed in 1.8.1. I can't Imagine why the rom wouldn't load if it were prepared correctly, the process should be foolproof.

And is. For me, the process is completely simple, i dont get why cause so much problem on some people.

I have 3 suggestions for 18.1

- PLEASE RGB TOXIC HAZEEE!!

- Make Model replacer a feature of the importer.

- Explain better how the scrolling textures work.

You should also do what frauber tried to before he "retired" which is making a feature to replace behaviors on objects.

I have been toying around with the new Importer 18S for hours and it work beautifully! I Just imported a level that was around 3700 faces large and selected tons of 0x0E objects in one area and there was no game crashes. Also, I love these extra feature like the scrolling textures (I'm going to try making a waterfall later on.) The improved music XML converter which is now built within the Importer! You also add "General Percussion" for every instruments list which is amazing. And, now I can use all 15 Channels! are you kidding me!... #smw{O_O}

Believe me I almost gave up on my hack when I was having trouble with the 0x0E error, but I'm glad I stuck around.

I'm also planning on making an updated custom music tutorial video using your Importer 18S. Hopefully this video would be less confusing then before.

Any more minor tweaks for 1.8.1? So far I'll just be fixing the gui for windows 7 and preventing loss of collision settings if the material file cant be accessed.
