Pretty much every level has palette work. Even the backgrounds ripped from other games have had some work done.
Some others we haven't used yet include some more Joe and Mac backgrounds, a few more SMAS ones, one or two more from MLW, something from a Batman game, some scenery from Mickey's Magical Adventure, as well as some miscellaneous ones my co-author found. We have a pretty neat cloud background and a nice mountain background.

Red coins are Yoshi coins, but it is a SM64 influence. In Mario 64, red coins were worth 2 coins, so we implemented that, and collecting them all in a level gives you a 1-up. We also have the 5-coin blue coins that mikey made. We've been tying in a lot of things from other Mario games.

We considered having Toad or Peach be the main character, but have made no moves yet. Right now we're concerned with completing levels. There'll be plenty of time later to insert ExGFX, touch up palettes, insert music, or whatever.
