Maybe a character that was playable in Smash 64. That's what I was expecting.

Captain Falcon, Ness, Yoshi and Jigglypuff are the 4 that haven't been announced from S64, and all of them except for Yoshi were unlockable characters. What's more, Ness and Jigglypuff continue to be unlockable characters, low-level ones, but unlockable the same. Presuming that a new Dojo will be up and running sometime this year, they'll probably reveal unlockable characters then to avoid spoilers like they did last time, and Ness and Jigglypuff are most likely part of that. Captain Falcon is a maybe.

Not sure what the hold up is with Yoshi though ?_?

Wow. Sounds like the game's gonna edge (heh) towards being more competitive, like Melee. What are your thoughts? Personally, this sounds quite interesting to me. Could edgehogging to ensure your opponent dies be destroyed?

They basing their game off of Melee and using Brawl as a launching pad. It has nothing whatsoever to do with SSB4.

I'm pretty sure they said they're staying away from SSB4.

Today Sakurai shows a bit of what could be the Kid Icarus stage for the Wii U version.

The Palutena statue and with what Sakurai mentions in the post ("She's watching over the arena.") there might indicate that she is not playable and confirm those recent pics as fake.

But then again Toon Link showed up in the Spirit Tracks stage and if hes in battle he gets replaced by another character. So maybe the same could be said about the statue here. Who knows.

Well, it's just a statue here; they wouldn't need to swap it out with a statue of another character just because Palutena's fighting; it's not the character itself! :p

I didn't use to like Lucario but once I played him I really like his moveset. Good to see him back however I think some new Pokemon should join the fight? Goomy anyone ;D I kid I kid.

Anyways I hope his final smash is now his Mega Evolution or atleast involves it as his one in Brawl wasn't too bad. :3

/r/smashbros has determined this leak is fake, and I agree with them. Falco's edges look far too jagged compared to the other pictures. In addition, the JPEG artifacts in this picture are worse compared to other pictures of this stage, implying that the picture was downloaded from somewhere, edited, and resaved.

Compare with this picture.

EDIT: However, the lighting is consistent with other pictures of this stage, Falco's design in this picture is consistent with Fox's design, and this picture doesn't look like an edit of a picture you can find on the official website. Which means if it's a fake, it's a really good fake.

I think all pictures of the Wii U version other than Sakurai's can be dismissed because you can easily just mod Super Smash Bros. Brawl. People would simply say to the creator of the picture, "You just modded Super Smash Bros. Brawl, idiot."

Someone simply made a Super Smash Bros. for Wii U styled Falco texture hack for Super Smash Bros. Brawl and made a Mario Galaxy stage for Super Smash Bros. Brawl (or he or she simply back ported the background).

Not really. The first issue is that the U is Hi-def, while the Wii most certainly isn't. SSB4 already looks fantastic graphics-wise as compared to Brawl or Melee. Once a screenshot was taken - unless they're running the mods in Dolphin, which still wouldn't be the same - the shot would seem more lo-res. The second issue is that the selection of stages is different from Brawl. The person would have to mod the stage as well, which comes with smaller things, such as the lighting that TRS mentioned. A well-equipped artist could simply photoshop it, instead of going to all of that effort to change the lighting engine and such.

Mother Brain is now an Assist Trophy, which is pretty cool!
